If you have concurrently both WOT and WOWS premium subscriptions, I think you will not, because you are hooked.  You will keep whining about WG and extend your premium time after making very little xp and credits on a free to play account.

The truly sad part is this:

If they apologize, it will be because they got exposed. Not because they would actually be sorry for what they did.
It has now been pretty well established how the WG is planning to make money. Next year this same thing will happen again. They'll just hide it better.

They will just do the same as they did with the Shipyard ships, with Puerto Rico they gave the idea you could get the ship for free on a Marathon when in fact they set it in a way it was more akin to a death march if you didnt pay, because of the rightful backlash they made it so its Directives but you have to pay and BTW the ship maybe a bit on the nerfed hammered side.

They might just have the shortlist ships listed and just say "if you get the same drop, it rolls a supercontainer with a ship drop" since that is apparently how it always worked, its just after the first one they "neglected" to mention anything about the ship drop being of a select list (the shortlist) and just made it look it can roll from any of the premium ships because "technically" it does, after you get the drop from the shortlist.

Of course if they do that, only the megawhales will buy then ... I mean, they could bloody well sell for 30000 Doubloons a container with rare ships and sure, people would buy it and get Nikolai I but its not as if they didnt sold Yamato along the Legendary Module and the whole "those ships are OP" sounds more and more certain players wanting to keep their advantage because they brought then back in the day and WG using then to sell these loot boxes because they are in the game, people have access to then and I see no difference of someone buying their way into a Tier X along the legendary module and just power to these ships with money, its just a question of appearances, its not by removing Benham from being brought that all the Benham suddenly disappear or that the whole "exclusivity" doesnt just make people that come in later feel like why the hell they would bother when the established (diminishing) players hold so many advantages.

My premium account on wot ran out over a month ago and hasn't been renewed. I may have played 1 or 2 games in the last month but I have lost interest.

My intention is now to do the same here with the premium time. I still enjoy the game and will continue to play as a free to play player which will suit me just fine. I'm not a gamer.

I'm a touch off being 50 and I only started playing games a few years ago. I don't mind spending a little money on a game if its reasonable and fair because it's a bit of a distraction from daily life but once the game becomes a problem for me that takes away from the fun I can easily walk away.

Do I expect WG to care? Not really. There will always be another to take my place but if enough people do it eventually WG will become known for what they're doing and people will choose to play another game.

I bought 20 Mega before this all kicked off and got Duca D'Aosta and Ochakov in that order.

Didn't think anything of it until reading this but I decided to try an experiment and sold Duca.

I then bought 20 more Mega's and got 2 more ship, guess which ship dropped first?

Yep, another Duca. I also got W.Virginia 1941 in a supercontainer.

Come on WG, it's supposed to be the season of goodwill to all men, is it really necessary to screw over your playerbase in such a spectacular and unsubtle fashion??

(FYI it's a rhetorical question, I know the answer is 'we have your money so f**k your goodwill Comrade.'

Yes, send them a ticket. Everyone should send as much as they can. Let them know, we are here, we know what they did and wont accept it!

I see somebody answered you (a Beta Tester - I forget their name) to basically accuse you of lying, but good for you! My Clan were WoT Beta Testers and then WoWs Beta Testers and we did and are now doing the same.

Firstly, we dropped paying for Premium on WoT, played for a while as free-to-play misers and then quickly left. The Arty, 3/5/7 MM and endless power creep killed it as a social game. I was disappointed as I loved playing WoT with friends.

Now that same bunch of whale Beta Testers are winding down their Premium time on this game as CVs, endless bottom-Tier matches in Divisions and utter drivel in the form of constant new Ninja Laser Russian Balans™ ships have driven them away. I will be gutted as I loved playing WoWs with friends. We win and maintain decent enough win rates - it's just the bull manure that spoils the game.

WG seems hell bent on haemorrhaging customers in order to make a fast buck instead of having a slightly calmer game which would run as long as World of Warcraft given the sound foundation of the game. An example? Oh, these crates which the aforementioned whales were gifting one another the morning they released in a Christmas tradition we have. We bagged three ships amongst the coal, flags et cetera and they were the Duca, Ocha and Vanguard.

So next time someone calls you a liar, rest content knowing that there are at least a few people doing precisely what you described - deliberately walking away from a WG product. Yes, boys and girls ... it is possible. Just find another game and start playing that. The funny thing is that those games cost the same or less than a single vessel in WoWs.

OH DEAR. wargaming must take everyone for fools. after news broke on Friday about the video on Flamu site, we warned the whole of our clan about this scam, so much for the good will of everyone at Christmas, all these things from santa containers to collecting steel and coal for ships are all money spinners for wargaming. At some point wargaming has caught someone out with one or another scam, but this one takes the biscuit. HO Ho Ho Wargaming this has back fired on your money earner this xmas.

I am not very good at games. I'm not good at this game but I enjoy playing it. I want to continue playing it and I will until something else comes along that I enjoy playing as much. I will take a step back and consider very carefully if I should be spending money on the game in future though.

I get that games need money to survive, they need to evolve, and I get not everyone will be happy but, games are supposed to be enjoyable. They shouldn't be something that feels like crawling for 3 miles through 1-foot deep mud. It is good to support a game buy buying items but that shouldn't then end up with the customer base being cheated, which is exactly what is going on here.

You are spot on about other games. There are still games out there that are happy to have a steady stream of money come in through releasing new content that enhances gameplay and longevity. Players are generally happy to pay for a new map etc. They are happy to buy shiny things. Each to their own and whatever makes them happy. What they won't be happy with is being fleeced.

The business model many games now employ is all about microtransaction and using every method available to get us to fork out. That is OK. I don't mind buying a nice pig mask for a character. What I don't like is creative wordsmithing formulated to dupe me. At best the wording used could be seen as ambiguous. at worst, it is downright deceitful. Customers don't deserve to be treated with such contempt. Players who have supported a game from the outset deserve better. People who are new to a game deserve better.

Apart from a few people the overwhelming reaction to these "surprise mechanics" has been obvious in its condemnation. They can't all be wrong.

PS. I won't waste my time sending a ticket. I will look at other options to ensure that the very thin ice WG and others are treading upon becomes a little thinner. I hate the idea od any government controlling our games but companies like WG just can't be trusted to play fair.

What a scam, Wargaming. This will be reported to authorities for violating the EU law with false advertisement for lootboxes, you can be sure.

Not a single $ from me for this scam, you can be sure too.

Funny - tickets are suspended right now.....

Well i bought 100 (before all the info's came out).... +24 from the doubloons dropped in armory Santa containers: got only shortlist (not even all...) + Lenin (and i don't like the Russian BBs)

There is something fishy here! Loot boxes are gambling and like all of gambling it is skewed toward the house. though the info's that are out at the moment seems like its not skewed towards the house but a flipping slip'n'slide down a cliff towards the house.

depending on their answer I will think about spending another cent.

I hope they do something positively

I'm done with paid content for this game.  I'm no fan of lootboxes, and I'd rather that they weren't there, but *up until now* I could understand WG's defence that giving adults the choice is a fair proposition.

By falsely advertising these lootboxes, however, they have crossed a line - this is completely misleading and wrong.  The meaning of random is quite clear - it generally means that all options are equally probable, and at the very least means that all options are possible.

Saying that a box can randomly drop that list of ships, when for my account it would be categorically impossible for the vast majority of them to actually drop from a single box, is nothing more than false advertising.

I don't know which disappoints me more, WGs scamming, or playerbase's reaction to it. Yeah it's a good thing that everyone is outraged, but looking at this thread and several others, most leave it at being outraged and continue their merry spending ways. Why exactly would WG change their behaviour if players keep spending, if not merrily then angrily. WG does not care if you're happy to spend 20€ or angry to spend 20€.

Average WG customer behavior:

  1. New special comes up. Read on forums that it's a scam.
  2. Must spend some money to see for yourself
  3. Oh it really is a scam, bummer, "I will not spend a dime on a WG game anymore"
  4. Next special comes up, yet another scam
  5. Maybe this one isn't a scam and I get a tier IX, damn my previous promise
  6. Oh bummer
  7. and so on...

...and WG is crying all the way to the bank.

Ho Ho Ho,

Look at the price of 20 mega box, I realized that I must have spent over £60 last year. Since I got very little (some flags, coal, etc) for my money I decided that WoWS will not get my £60 this year, next year, and the many years after.

Ho Ho Ho again to the greedy marketing guys at WoWS.

WG knows that I have kept spending money on WoT but not a penny on WoWS since I bought the 20 meg boxes last year!

What baffles me the most is that people are actually trying to continue the support after all WG has done to their games and the community. Over the years this all led to the current meta of the games industry. It became fraudulent, greedy, riddled with gambling mechanics. And players still cash in and continue to play. Everyone should immediately stop supporting WG, uninstall all of their titles and stop spending any cent. It will not get better, only worse. It does not matter if you believe in this new scam or not, all measures they took over the last couple of years only had one goal, to milk the player base, hiding all their shady approaches the best they can. The more I dig into it the more WoWS and WoT to me are becoming an empty hull with dummies, bots and background artists. A soulless system misleading players. As soon as you stop playing for a couple of weeks you realize the vortex of enthusiasm, painful frustration, addiction and stress you have left behind. And if you are honest to yourself you exactly know what I am talking about. This is their only engine, hidden behind cool looking visuals. For the sake of gaming as a hobby I would like to motivate everyone to stop supporting WG and look for other games to play. I am done with their manipulative crap and I have supported them again and again for almost a decade believing in their games and the community. I just cannot take it anymore
