I bought 20 normal gift containers, for about 14 Euros, got 3x200 gold, plenty of useless flags, some camos, 3x2500 coal and a London.

Why London? Cz I sold it when I got it for free last year.

 

So, don't buy any containers, not even the cheapest ones.

I don't have all these low tier ships and I certainly don't want them. Whilst I didn't expect to win a high tier ship I still hoped I would. I now realise I had absolutely no chance of getting one until I had first bloated my port with garbage first. The wording was at best ambiguous, at worst it was deceitful.

To be honest, these are the ONLY boxes worth buying. I'm a whale, sorry, there said it done. But last year I could only get 1 ship from the containers, got that one in the free ones. This year, I didn't buy a single ship, but I got a few ships from containers in other events, luck. Didn't buy a single black ship this year, the refund policy sucks.. But I do love that the premium time is the hardest to get, as I have enough of it. 

 

I was almost out of dragon flags, so restocking those were nice. And getting more economical flags in the standard are always nice. So, this year I bought 20 small and got nothing, 20 big brought 2 ships (Poltava and California) and then I bought 20 mega and got Neustrashimi as the frst one, bagration as second and flint as third. Now the last 20 mega I bought gave me the 3 ships I was missing.. But during that I got more crap camos than anything else, but in total, quite nice. Wished for more coal or doubloons, but hey :-).

 

The Christmas containers has been like they are since the very first time they were introduced, that people find out now after 4 years that they're working like this amaze me, guess people are slow. I didn't care, didn't know the short list, but found out the hard wayt the first year when I could only get okhotniks and they gave the least refund of all ships.

 

So, that people complain is nothing new, I do wish WG would have been honest about how the "random" works, and they're not exactly wrong in how they word their ad, but it's grey and dodgy and not dishonest. Dishonest would have been them saying there is an equal chance to win each of the ships, instead they say one of the ships on the list or rather "A premium ship, they omit the fact that you need some prerequisite ships in order to be able to get that from the first. 

 

Anyway, I always say, if you don't need the majority of the stuff in these, don't buy them. If you need more flags and camo, go ahead, they're great value.

 

I got 8 ships, I have friends that got 16 ships and others getting more than me and spending an equal amount of moolah.

 

Value wise, the Mega ones are the ones to go for.

The funny thing is WG seem to not realise the reason people are pissed off is not that they didn't get the ship they wanted but because the box mechanics are not as advertised

I have to say, I didn’t know that all that was rigged, but I have to say... I’m pretty much satisfied.

 

20 mega containers worth 60€

and I got 5 ships (kaga and indomitable as the most expensive ones) 

and bought 4 more containers with doubloons I got out of the 20 mega containers, and got a tier 7 DD and the Duca....

 

i really can’t complain tbh.

 

BUT have I known about the rigged  fact, I would have thought about buying crates at least 10 times.

Seems rigged or seriously bugged. More like rigged as now that this is out and there are lists of last year's short listed ship, those were the ones I got last year. So this seems to be long term strategy...

In any case I hope this gets fixed, and we get our refunds/compensations.

If these are the "ONLY" boxes worth buying i dread to think how bad the rest are.

 

I bought 40 MEGA boxes and got 2 Tier 6 ships, 2 ships, if i had bought the boxes for Flags i would be ecstatic.

 

This is my first Xmas with WoWs, I'm slow to the game but a fast learner when my mistakes are expensive. So this is my first participation with WoWs Loot boxes and it is also my LAST.

 

I have found WoT and WoWp Loot boxes to be great value in the past, the MEGA boxes i bought were shockingly poor value in comparison. I feel violated by WoWs tbh.  

 

I spent £100 and got £30 worth of ships,  those were MEGA boxes which you describe as "the ones to go for", i struggle to see how the Small and Big boxes could be worse value than the Mega boxes.

The truly sad part is this: 

If they apologize, it will be because they got exposed. Not because they would actually be sorry for what they did.
It has now been pretty well established how the WG is planning to make money. Next year this same thing will happen again. They'll just hide it better.

Well @WinnieANKA sure WG have to earn money but there is a right and a wrong way to do it and so fare WG have gone the wrong way the last couple of years. And after the PR failure last christmas i have not bought any premiumships in there premiumshop only a few doubloons when i needed them so my wallet will stay in my backpocket untilol they begins to go down the right path. And i have to say that WG listening to its playerbase and now going their own way and dont give a s... about us anymore thats not good for them and yes i love this game, but it hurts me to see WG doing this.

It is not about them needing money, we all get that, and a lot of us put some amount of money in so we can play a game we enjoy playing. However, paying to play a fun game and feeling you just got robbed are two entirely different things. So you can't really put this away as them just needing to make money. Also, they make plenty of it, really they do.

And I was thinking to spend some $ to buy mega crates... wasn't expecting to get a rare ship, but seriouslly, almost 100% chance to get 7 crappy ships?! No thanks, untill this is clarified, I personally won't spend 1$ and I stronglly advice everyone to do the same, no money spent = a solution from WG!

I understand what you are saying - it's shame on them, no doubt about it, but I'm annoyed by some people with xxxxx games and million posts saying I will uninstall and sue the company. It's just silly. BUT, also we should keep in mind that I have a load of premium tier IX ships, couple of premium tier VIII as well that I have spent 1€ in total (for Cossack event). Those with doubloons I have are the ones I purchased with doubloons earned IN GAME through various events. Look, this was filthy, no doubt about it - but they have been more than generous over the years. I have a LOAD of premiums in my Port, yet I have purchased only one with my money - Mikasa tier II. Even Gremyaschyn I have I got as a gift in a Closed Beta bundle with premium time and doubloons (or was it Open Beta, not even sure any more).
