Black Friday combat missions are deceiving...

Okay so this is partially my own fault for misinterpreting what is written in the sales pitch, and assuming that Wargaming were being cool for once.

I was wrong however, and it seems they're just money grabbing to make a profit off unclear descriptions.

As you can see here, I purchased the Scharnhorst B - I have wanted this ship for a while and it looks really cool. There is a sweetener thrown in with the purchase stating "Owners of this bundle will also receive a special combat mission for Scharnhorst."

Can you see where this is going? Obviously after winning two victories in the ship and not seeing the combat mission bar progress, I realised they were reffering to the OG Scharnhorst, not the Scharnhorst B I just purchased.

Why the hell would you put a combat mission in a bundle for a different ship? Honestly this is a really bad look for WG, yeah I still have my ship sure, but I just can't help but feel like this is such a gotcha moment, kinda sullied the fun having the ship.

I think its fair to assume that the combat mission its talking about is for the same damn ship right? Obviously not, don't assume anything my friends.

Anyway I guess the takeaway from this is, make sure you read the bloody description twice before you buy anything from the Armoury or Premium Shop.

See you in the next rant, happy Friday...

Sorry to break this to you, but this is a 'known issue'. As you said, it's not really misleading but, as always, with WeeGee you have to read the fine print.

Anyway, enjoy your new ship! :Smile_honoring:

Unfortunately this is not the first thread of this type today and in defence of WG this has been the case in all of the Black Friday events.

It is designed to be a small benefit for those who already purchased or obtained the original ships and allow them to benefit from purchasing a copy of the same ship albeit in a different camo.

It is fairly clearly worded to be fair but does require careful reading..

For the same reason they've done exactly the same thing (with the same 'small print') in every Black Friday event so far - it's a small bribe to encourage owners of the vanilla version of a ship to spend money on the Black one.

We've all been whinging about this - the wording and its obscurity - since they started doing it, but nothing much changes. It's just one of those things that experienced players know, and that bites newbies on the bum every year (like switching off 'replenish using doubloons' for signals, and suchlike).

It is not unclear. You just started interpreting.

Lots, until WG either change the mechanic, or make their comms a lot clearer...

#metoo - this is a really crappy thing to do - I mean nobody with the original version is ALSO going to buy the Black version, so it's bait and switch.

(I also have both versions of all the previous years' ships as well; this is the first year I've called it a day early, due to the - apparent - nerfed drop chance and duplicate issue)

Why have both?

  • Double first win bonus each day.
  • Double snowflake etc.
  • Option for multiple builds (although I didn't in this case).
  • For T7 (and T6 if they ever do any), you avoid the 'cooldown' issue in Ops.

If you mean reasons for having multiples of essentially the same ship, I was being general rather than specifically referring to only Cossack (Atlanta and Sims, for example, help avoid the Narai cooldown if you have both versions).

Yes, so what is the issue here? You buy the Scharnhorst B and get a mission for the Scharnhorst. Verbally.

No error:

i.e. there are currently no T6 clones that I can think of, but the same principles would apply if WG ever did produce any.

Which means, whole tactic is working just fine.

After all, why change something if it just keeps bringing profit?

You're wrong in the way you interpreted his interpretation. The very undeniable proof that it was unclear, is that player were fooled by this.

People are fooled by the time on a watch tower. If people being fooled is the definition of something being unlcear, then EVERYTHING is unclear.
