Please WG.. encourage smart and teamoriented play!

No other issue is more demotivating and frustrating at the moment. Not the omnipresent CVs, not the imbalanced premium/ressource ships nor nation bias.. but the complete lack of will in the teams to play for a common goal, a team victory.

And why should they? Nearly all immediate rewards are focused on strong individual results.

 

A comeback of a team that lost the majority of caps is getting regular nowadays. You have the point and cap advantage and suddenly 2/3 of the team decide to run one by one in the camping enemy. Because why wait for the win with little damage? You probably lose more credits than if you make a suicidal attempt to torpedo or ram an enemy.

It became so regular that for the average player it is a legit "strategy" to drive circles in spawn with his battleship or go from left spawn to right spawn and vice versa. Because you can just expect sooner or later to have easy targets and get higher damage than you would by actually taking a more advanced position where you get roasted by HE spam, focused by carriers or taken out by long range torpedos.

This all leads to mindblowingly stupid gameplay and new players have less than ever a chance to understand what successful or unsuccessful gameplay is. It just doesn't matter what you do individually if noone else is taking important positions, forming crossfires, setting ambushes, tanking damage, spotting for allies etc. etc. The whole game concept becomes irrelevant and turns into a dumb clicking at the closest ship.

 

This community just needs more encouragement to achieve something together!

We need more explanations and demonstrations for newcomers to see that this game can be more than a slow paced arcade shoter.

It is so beautiful if you actually see people reacting to your play and taking advantage of it, putting the enemy in trouble. But it happens so rarely lately because too many players don't even expect it anymore or know how to use it.

 

I doubt that something like a skill based MM or extended ranked gameplay is a solution for this. Because it just creates more bubbles with little interaction.

It just should feel better to play for and with your team because you immediatly see the rewards for it, like you do when you score a high caliber.

I guess this was written in many ways before, i just hope the more people mention this issue, the sooner WG might want to take a look at it.

More clueless people means more wallet warriors trying to Pay2win, which means more €€€€ for wargaming. Keeping the playerbase as clueless as possible is sadly beneficial to wargaming and therefore any sort of improvement is at the very least highly unlikely.

So much THIS tbh. There is a legit business interest in keeping the playerbase in the dark about how to be an effective teammate. The idea that WG is too dumb to know is total lies. They know what they're doing and this is in their opinion the best way to run a business. The saddest part is that between the endless lootbox gambling and sunken cost fallacy keeping players hooked to a deeply flawed game they are absolutely correct in their judgement.

This is one of those reasons why the operations work so much better (most of the time) than the randoms. They are scripted, of course, but they also provide the team with clear primary and secondary objects that they need to fulfill. Most randoms, on the contrary, are pseudotactical spamfests rather than proper battles. They can be played out as battles, but that happens very rarely, and only with teams where the majority of the players have such a preference.

Sadly I know that if I want a teamplay game, I play a game that isn't the equivalent of dodgeball with classmates you dont like. The "teams" in WOWS are only there so that there is the facade of complementing ship classes, like cv's being protected by a wall of ships and aa ships helping dd's.

On top of that...the situation is a bit different. Some people will still advance to find the enemy cv or get more accuracy on their guns. Divs usually play agressively.

You can't force bad players to become better or bait them into getting better with team oriented rewards. Most Unicums also should know that you can never bet for teamplay to happen outside divisions so they play around their teams adapting on the fly. Expecting someone who plays the game to sit in his favorite warship to watch explosions and have gunfights to invest any more of his braincells after a long workday is optimistic. 

 

As long as this game is open to total casuals and marketed as such you will always get these teammates that aren't really in for the win or teamplay but just to have a shootout against other ships.

However, as @GarrusBrutus has said it is down to money...

 

Why have a competitive game with a medium, but regular, income from players who stay when you can have 'Johnny Sad Sack' with his ten games buying a Tier X ship to burst into high tier gameplay because he doesn't want to progress through the tiers.

 

I used to play a game called 'Guild Wars' and you could not buy your way to the top, each step was a learning curve, and even today after all of the years it has been in existence there are hundreds of thousands of players and that game is how old....

What about to double rewards (credit, XP, freeXP) for winning players and no rewards for defeated team?

Nothing you can do about people who dont want to improve and dont questions their moves and decisions.

 

Seriously you cant be mad at a palyer with 4 T1 battles and in his 5th battle he joins my game with a Tirpitz. 

 

Only solutions I can think of is individual rewards without taking win/loss into account.

 

Roflstomp wins/losses are getting really common lately, at least this is my impression. And this is no fun for both sides.

Another 'socialist' rant. OP ships in game discourage teamplay, really? You could say they encourage teamplay, because you can make entire division in OP ships. Winning game gives much more rewards then dealing damage. Yesterday I lost game in Kremlin with 270k damage dealt, and got 1400 XP, and was on second place in losing team, some DD got more XP. Capping gives lot of XP, isn't that encouragenent for teamplay? CVs got their silver and XP gains severly reduced as well.

Yes I can be mad at them. More and more often I see players who cannot use the WASD keys or cannot aim their guns. Literally. They move forward and aft into islands. Once a player said in chat: I cannot get my autopilot to avoid the island (this was a BB, not CV). I saw another player shoot randomly into the sea next to his ship, he could not land his shells even in the direction of his target.

Sure, sell these noobs T8-10 premiums. Make absolutely no distinction in skill level. Let the noobs suffer defeat after defeat and get frustrated. Let them drag down the rest of the team that quits WoWs in disgust.

The cynicism of WG to let the game self destruct for a fist full of roubles is disgusting

One of the Motorsport simulators (Assetto Corza Competizione) solved this problem of new players not knowing how to race safely by requiring certain scores in track knowledge, car control, race etiquette and sportsmanship.

 

This could be done in WoWs by requiring a certain number of games at each tier with a certain score in each category of damage, spotting, capping, defending caps and potential damage. All to be completed in co-op before Random Battles is available at that tier. This way people should know what is expected of them and will at least be able to hit the broadside of a barn from the inside......

Agreed, there has to be a certain skill filter to progress to top level games.

Alas WG does not want that and so do many players here.

With a recent new ships and ideas about "improving" clan battles looks like WG is going in completely opposite direction - mindless bow on shooting of HE till enemy will die first, with omni-spotting by CVs and radar negating any attempts of sneaky play, flanking etc. They even came with 14km storms to deny crossfires and kitting.  So long live stupid gameplay.

Could be interesting if the XP system wasn't centered around dealing damage. It's one of the things that held the game back from the beginning.

lesta (i don't think that wg has much to do with wows these days) doesn't give a flying fck what happens in-game as long as you all buy t10 ships from prem shop
