More National Commander voice-overs please :)

Since I've switched to National commander voice overs, I've been loving them. Unfortunately it seems the Swedish ships and the Pan-Asian ships use the default American voice-over, which is a shame. I also can't remember hearing a special voice-over for my Polish and Astro-Hungarian commanders. Would be nice to have more national commander voice-overs. :)

Also, I noticed on https://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Commander that the Pan-Asian commander have no differences in ranks, split up for the different countries, like the Pan-European commanders have. I don't know why this decision was made, I'm not too familiar with Asia, but I do get the feeling the randomly generated names of the commanders do differ based upon the nation of the ship they're recruited on. Can't their ranks also be split up to represent their nationality?

As a Dutch guy I do appreciate the Dutch voice-over used for my Dutch commander on the Friesland, although it feels kinda strange that there's a Dutch voice-over while there's only one Dutch ship in the game, while there are no national voice-over for many other Pan-European and Pan-Asian commanders.

I have no experience with the Pan-American commanders, as the number of Pan-American ships is extremely limited, but I do hope these will follow the same system as used for the Pan-European commanders; a rank and voice-over based upon their nationality.

My capitain for Ostergottland was from Błyskawica ( Polish capitain ) and he speak polish language on Błyskawica and english language on Ostergottland.  This seems more or less logical as he serve on different navy ship and english is international language. As I remember Viribus Unitis default commander speaks german although cosidering that British english and USA english voice over are different I wonder how or if it differs Austro-Hungarian german from German german. Nueve de Julio capitain speaks spanish, I hope that Almirante Abreu capitain will speak portugal language. In case of Pan American ships it's not only case of differences beetween spanish and portugal but there are more local differences. I didn't hope it will be included.

Pan Asian lack of voice over is strange for me as chinese speaker isn't probably very difficult to find. Here they could differ PLAN and RoCN from each other similarly like GB and USA voice. Same for Indionesian ships. As I remember announcement of Pan Asian tree was gently speaking gigantic crapshow on SEA ( including bans for WWII Thai anti Chinese propaganda ) this could be one of cases.

Ah, so the voice-over is selected based upon the ship, and not based upon the commander? Not sure that's the most logical thing, but OK. I always try to have commanders of the correct nationality (with their national rank and name) on the ships anyways. Having a Polish commander on my Dutch Friesland just doesn't match IMO. :P

Ah, always a shame when politics get in their way. I guess it does explain why WG went the easy way and just generalizing all ranks and voices of Pan-Asian commanders.

I'm not sure, but I do get the feeling the randomly generated names of Pan-Asian commanders do get influenced by the nation of the ship they're recruited on, or isn't that the case?

I got before Jerzy Świrski Campaign only one strong European commander who served on Błyskawica, Friesland and Ostergottland. Jerzy Świrski is now on Halland with other premiums but I agree it's very strange. Maybe they add Polish destroyers too as split from Vasteras so it could be more logic. Personally I hope for Legendary Capitain from each European WoWs nations ( Doorman or Helfrich for Netherlands maybe? Maybe different person? Karel Doorman was as I remember also Cavalier of one of Polish highest military medals so he fits into European international tree very well )

I must check my Vasteras and Oland capitains as I'm almost sure that they speak Swedish ( generated on such ships )

As I remember Gadjah Mada capitain have more or less chinese name ( no arab language name in example ) but still we can explain this as chinese diaspora is present in all SEA region countries so we can assumpt that he comes from such minority. Personally I would try generate some names on Phra Ruang, Gadjah Mada, Irian or Silliwangi and check how they names differ. As I remember sometimes was posssible to see different uniform of PA capitains as same as some Soviet capitains had Imperial uniforms or medals ( maybe Imperial ships generate different uniforms from Soviet ships? ) I'm not sure did it was removed but I do not see this from few months. Some of Russian/Soviet capitains had Imperial looking big moustaches but tbh I'm not sure did it was changed during post Revolution times. I bet it wasn't positively recived after end of Civil War.

Interesting which language could use Mysore generated capitain english language or hindi as both are official languages of India?

I also support more national voiceovers, and while you are at it, maybe re-visit the British commander. I mean, he doesn't have to sound all "evil" like the rest of them, with so much reverb and other effects on his voice, but everytime he says: "We sank an enemy destroy-her", I have to laugh.

Seriously, the man sounds like he is drawing is last breath.

I'll have to check this when I get into game later on, it seems equally strange for them to use English as Japanese, though.

Not unless they are Japanese Americans... for me the voiceover is in Japanese on Pan-Asian ships.

These Scandinavian languages tend to be sort of close yet quite different. Supposedly, they are somewhat mutually intelligible. I don't really know Danish at all, so can't comment. Swedish is a little bit like Plattdeutsch, neither having undergone the same kind of consonant shifts as High German (e.g. t becoming s).

Isn't there some setting in the audio settings witch gives you options for different voice commanders? Im sure I saw something like that recently.

You can play with the settings, I use the national + because it lets me hear the special commanders like Jingles etc.
