The best silver T10 ships?

Hi.

I am grinding some tech tree lines and would like to know which to prioritise.

So, which ships do you find the best T10 BB, cruisers and DD? No gold premiums, I am F2P. CVs don't interest me. If you feel strongly about a T9, throw them in too.

Don't you already have enough battles and ships to figure this out on your own?

Fine, I'll bite.

Cruisers: Des moines, Venezia, hindenburg, zao (if you can get through the skill floor)

Battleships: Kremlin, maybe montana

DDs: Z-52, (I hear daring is good too).

Do freemiums count? If so:

BBs:Thunderer, Ohio (These two are generally the two strongest BBs in the game)

Cruisers:Thunderer, alaska, stalin

DDs:Thunderer, friesland

Yep I have a general idea and there have been quite a few threads earlier, but just wanted to have the latest take on this.

I like Yamato and Venezia.

On T9 i found Alsace and Buffalo to be quite interesting/Strong. Probably because most people dont think those ships pose much of a threat :Smile_trollface:

Des Moines ... still a monster. Her HE is annoying to all things inside her range. Her AP obliterates targets that even remotely show broadside. On top a radar that has long enough duration to make a DDs life hell. Only "problem" though is that one needs to be able to position oneself well with her.

Radar Minotaur ... nowhere is the line between genius and mad man thinner than with this ship. You either get nuked from the battlefield the first time you're spotted or you yourself make short process of the enemy DDs and other stealth reliant ships. Challenging to play, but oh so rewarding.

Also depends what you are looking for? do you play divisions? solo? Some ships perform better in a division, other are strong solo or either way. Ranked a priority?

Cant do wrong with Des Moines, thats for sure. Henri is awesome and stronger in ranked imo, so good to have in port. Minotaur (with Radar) is a killer in division.

DDs have the same picture. German DDs are super good in divisions. British DDs in general are really good. If you prefer gunboats, the french. The russian DDs are also interesting, just forget about Khaba at this moment - T8/T9 of the gunboat line are still super good tho.

There are no premium ships on tier X (golden ones are special ships with worse economy than premiums).

All of them are obtainable for free except Puerto Rico :cap_fainting:by one resource or another.

Best DD for brute force carrying is Daring, hands down. Halland for CB. Shima can still work in randoms if you like torps.

Best CA? Dont really play those, Petro, Moskva, stalingrad and Venezia is what i use in CBs. Des Moines is great too.

Best BB? Ohio (Research bureau) and Kremlin. Maybe Yamato because overmatch never gets old.

Tier IX: Kitakaze is tier 9,9 and overall my favorite DD in the game.

BB: Yamato

Cruiser: Petropavlovsk

DD: Haland

I can only really comment on DDs: depending on what you want to do, my nominations would be Daring and Halland at the moment.

If you include free xp ships, I prefer Smaland to both currently.

BB: Yamato, Kremlin

Cruiser: DesMo and Nevsky

DD: Daring

That would be my main recommendations, ships that typically have a good number of strengths, are reliable in performance, can pay off with enough skill and most have stood the test of time. For cruisers, really, DesMo has been strong for a long time and it just isn't going to ever not be good. Nevsky is more risky pick of mine, as it's relatively new, but I think with its long range HE and AP, its radar, the sturdiness, torps and speed, it should be a safe investment. Certainly would consider it overall more useful than Petro, which has its AP and armour, but that's it.

Kitakaze :Smile_trollface:

And I'm not completely joking here - she wouldn't feel out of place at tier 10 and Harugumo is a more specialized side-grade rather than an improvement (there's no guarantee that you'll enjoy Harugumo at all no matter how much you love Kitakaze, even though she DOES significantly improve on the already insane DPM).

A bit besides the point, but personally I have a feeling that DD lines are actually pretty prone to this "problem" in general - there are many lines where the t10 either used to feel or still feels like a side-grade, if even that.

Whichever one you enjoy the most.

But old stalwarts of tier 10 :  Montana, Des Moines, Gearing, Shimakaze (note the murrican bias)

The meta is always changing, but one thing I have noticed, some ships never go out of fashion.

Right now, Halland and Petropavlosk are meta defining, but for how long? A few more months at most.

I play mostly solo random and some ranked if it is not too painful.

Quite. I'm looking at my Chung Mu, thinking "is it worth grinding out that Tier X"?

Grinding f2p, our recommendations might be nerfed into oblivion once you reach them. :cap_haloween:

Plus, they are all different and all good on their own terms.

@Camperdown Say Yamato is best...Best among what? BBs. Well, not true, it has pros and cons like all other ships. Is Ohio better than Montana? No, it's not. They are different. Is Slava better than Kremlin? Definitely not. Is Shima better than Z52? Of course not, totally different ships.

All comes down to personal preferences and likes of a class, nation and then the choice of ship. We wouldn't know your play style, what you like or dislike while playing the game. Therefore, you need to check your own stats, see what you are most successful at and afterwards check the silver ships from tech tree which you don't possess at the moment, read their pros and cosn from wiki or watch videos about them, and finally decide.

Whatever we would tell you here would reflect our own preferences and most probably would not fit your play style at all.

Welcome to the Gvozdika Guide to T10

Do you like to burn EVERYTHING in an unholy HE spam? Conqueror. People will hate you. You'll hate yourself a little - but it appeals to the inner pyromaniac.

Otherwise - get Yamato. You know you want to - you know it makes sense. Big guns that don't care much for bow tanking opponents.

Would you like to fill the air with lots of 152mm shells while making dakka-dakka noises? Minotaur. Fun but fragile with various  shenanigans you can get up to depending on loadout. Can be played as smoke or radar cruiser plus has 20x UK torpedoes which can single-fired in a variety of amusing ways....

If you want a decent all-rounder - Des Moines can be used in combination with cover (safe bet) or with the legendary modules for open water running and gunning (risky). Radar is always useful - especially with the 40s duration.

Do you feel so manly that you feel like you can punch a horse after your first bowl of kellogs? Daring. See cap. Take cap. Shoot anyone who disagrees. Quick cycle smokes give you options. Very much a 'gunfighter' DD but with decent torps, stealth and the ability to smoke up (unlike Kleber and Halland).

If you like reenacting the macross missile massacre then Shimakaze is a good option for torpedo-boat gameplay. If you want a more general purpose option with good guns/torps/utility then Gearing, possibly Grozovoi.

CVs? We don't talk about such things.

The simple answer is to try out a few different lines and see which you enjoy. It's pointless going for a 'meta' ship if you don't like playing it.

I can agree on everything you said .. but sorry, this is actually not true. You would pick Ohio over Montana in every situation, except one maybe, a lucky cruiser broadside at max 15km, yea that's true. Otherwise Ohio dab on monty in any situation.

Powercreep exists on almost every game, and wows doesn't escape this

Although DesMoines is one of the oldest ship in the game, and still one of the best (the best to me) :D

Sure, I agree with powercreep but your preference or mine don't make one ship better than another. I know top players who prefer 12 guns over 8 when it comes to this comparison.

Personally, i find Ohio easier to play as well but in the end they are different ships with different stats.

Imo, DM is still one of the most efficient cruisers when played correctly, meaning to its max. capacity.

Then you want Des Moines and Daring. For a BB even concider Kurfürst. With hydro and the tankiness you are self-reliant.

2nd option for each class imo: Worcester or Henri, even Hindenburg. Gearing and Grozovoi & Kremlin as the BB.
