In terms of multiplayer and covering a similiar time frame like Warships? None so far ... however there seems to be a relaunch of the famous Steel Ocean under a new name ;)

The only other substancial online multiplayer warships game i know of is Naval Action, set in the age of sail. Though i´m not sure about the actual status. And it is not FTP afaik.

Thank You, I'll check out Naval Action FTP is not an issue, I don't mind paying for something I enjoy, I just want something that whilst not being a Simulator bares some semblance of reality Alas 50knt Submerged Diesel Electric Subs heading our way, Just No not for me :Smile_facepalm:

I’m mulling over ultimate admiral dreadnoughts, I know it’s not as visually pretty as WOWS but seems to potentially be more fun.

I Have that and it's quite good but still needs some work yet.

If I drop a glass on the floor and it shatters I know instantly it's broken but it seems Wargaming doesn't grasp that concept. I mean submarines are not only broken, Wargaming just sits back watching us step on the broken pieces.

I mean I could go on and on and on with the Youtube links that show why the concept of submarines just do not work in this game. What makes matters worse is they have gotten rid of the actual ping trail now so the only way you know you have been pinged is after it's already happened and you see a splash at a distance (which by the way is not the actual location of the sub because I have thrown depth charges there and hit nothing several times). Also submarines do not play an actual role in the game because they are either fully broken or are fully useless. You still can't escape a sub popping up in your face and torping you. We still have ping mitigated using our repair party which some ships have a limited supply so you are essentially stuck in a "gotcha" moment where it's stop the ping for a moment or use up a precious repair party you may really need so you forced to take the lesser of two damages. They take up the room in match making of really vital ships such as DD's that teams really need. Subs don't do the job of a DD and yet in order to fit them in the MM DD's are sacrificed. If you are stuck with a submarine or two who do nothing then you are basically down one to two players. I also rarely see subs fighting each other - I actually see opposing subs just pass each other because it's not worth it for them to fight. Wargaming you need to remove them from the game and take them back to testing for another two to three years away from randoms. If you people want to play them and test them then they can sign up for the test server. What exactly are you expecting at this point? Have you not seen enough of how they are broken and how much the player base do not want them? I'm sorry but your concept has failed and no matter of forceful hammering down people's throat is going to change that. 

 

It's time to realise the glass is broken and the shards need to be cleaned up because I am tired of stepping on them.

If we didn't have the current security issue with replays I'd love to share a replay I have of how stupid the new wake indicator when a submarine pings is. There's a moment of the match where I launch planes just on top of where the wake is spotted just at the moment where the submarine surfaces and gets spotted waaaaay to the right of it.

 

I wouldn't even be surprised what they said of reducing the distance at which the wake appears from the submarine was another lie, because that thing was as ridiculous as it was on PTS. It's unbelievable how absolutely retarded this crap is.

On the subject of the U-4501: Are we lookng at the ultimate griefer ship?

  • A premium submarine with a submerged speed of over 40 knots and with the ability to get that speed up to 53 knots, it will be able to outrun all but the fastest destroyers in the game.
  • The very few destroyers that can actually catch up with it - such as the Kléber or the Marceau - don't have hydro and will thus not be able to spot and attack it on their own.
  • The U-4501 has its main torpedo armament positioned at the stern, which I believe may come across as mildly unhistorical but makes it ideal for spamming torps while, say, kiting away from any ship that decides to try to catch up with it.
  • It can stay submerged for a considerably longer time than its same-tier silver peers.

All in all, this sounds to me as the winning contribution in a Wargaming competition to design the ultimate griefer ship. Which takes some doing in an environment that has recently seen its first tier 11 super carriers come over the horizon, but there you are.

The wake does not show direction of travel. You have to wait for the second wake to confirm direction of the sub and it's speed to lead correctly. Just be more patient next time

Which means that you have to stare at a piece of ocean constantly, hope you are actually staring at the right spot, while getting shot at by enemy surface ships, and with your guns turning away from them.

yes, now i'm not saying that this is good game mechanics btw it>'s just how it is. WG could fix it by angling the wake in the subs traveling direction but who knows, maybe they will add that

just had a game in a haarlem. litterarly just watched two subs fk up my teammates infront of me, they were spotted but i still couldn't DO ANYTHING!!! are you serious??? NL cruisers don't even have sinkbombs. I CAN*T EVEN FIGHT THEM!!! this is the most stupid thing ever. im guessing you just forgot to add it right??? when will this be fixed?

From what I understand, Wargaming have elected to deny Netherlands cruisers access to anti-submarine weapons in order to balance out the fact that they do have access to their own special bombing run consumable. Which I'd take to perhaps be indicative of a somewhat inflated opinion of the efficacy of said bombing consumable - but I guess it might just as easily merely be indicative of my own lack of skill as a bomber pilot. Either way, I agree that it is hugely frustrating to be in any non-ASW equipped surface ship these days.

The Kearsarge has no depth charges either and good luck hitting a sub with it's planes.

The Kearsarge is arguably stronger as a BB/CV hybrid, than any of the Dutch cruisers are in their respective roles. So the decision to not equip it with ASW capabilities is perhaps more justified.

 

But hey, if you were to argue for giving CV:s access to ASW, you'd have my vote on that. I'd welcome the addition of depth charge bombers to carriers, and to the Kearsarge as well for that matter. Anything that will make these ships go after subs rather than me, is a good thing in my book!

So @Seraphice what's the current feedback? Is the majority happy where subs are after the latest 'rebalance'?

 

I'm just asking because personally I think playing randoms right now is pretty much impossible but there surely is a reason why you are still pushing for them, right?
