ST 0.9.10, CHANGES TO TEST SHIPS

Changes to Italian battleships and Mysore

We adjusted the parameters of the following ships based on testing results.

Commonwealth cruiser Mysore, Tier VI:

  • Added the Repair Party consumable;
  • Changed AP shells parameters:
    • Maximum damage increased from 3,100 to 3,300;
    • Initial velocity increased from 841 to 970 m/s;
    • Increased armor penetration.
  • Main battery reload time increased from 7.5 to 9.5 s.

Andrea Doria, Francesco Caracciolo, Vittorio Veneto, Cristoforo Colombo, Tiers VI - VIII, X:

  • Accuracy of secondary caliber guns lowered to the standard values.

Italian battleships' secondary guns had a rather small caliber and high accuracy. Such a combination of parameters lead to frequent hits on the same part of the ship without penetration and with a low number of fires. Changes to their accuracy will allow them to hit different parts of ships at close range and cause more fires.

Before their secondaries had low pen, extremely short range and good accuracy. Now the accuracy is bad aswell and they want to sell that as a buff 😂

With secondaries, "too accurate" is very much a thing. Besides, 90mm HE can't challenge 19mm plating, even with IFHE.

Thus nerfs to pepperoni secondaries are like nerfs to Cossack AA - "so what".

You cannot start fires if you dont even hit the target.

The problem is that the Italian secondaries are entirely useless, they could change then so they fired SAP that wouldnt pen but would deal more consistent damage, it seems they are deadset on making secondaries useless outside a few select premium ships and even if its that the italian true secondaries were bad before, they are bad now and utterly useless to function outside the same BB cookie cutter survivability build, they are there just like the ones in Yamato or Montana, except those are still sub-optimal and not simply utterly pointless.

Even if the secondaries are bad at penetration they can still start fires, but secondaries that mostly hit the center because of artificially improved accuracy will rarely start bow/stern fires.

But the Italians are not overall very impressive secondary ships, unfortunately.

Don't see why they didnt make the secondaries just aim for the superstructure, easy fix.

They still still wont hit the bow/stern.

Isn't that the point?

No theyre nerfing the dispersion so the shells do hit the other flamable compartments of the ship rather than all hitting the middle.

Raising the dispersion to hit slightly higher wont cause them to deviate towards the ends of larger targets.

That's what I don't understand. Why do they even bother with balance changes like that, when the secondaries are completely uselss anyway. Same with the accuracy of some cruiser secondaries like Pensa or Wichita or improved range like Atago. I really would like to know what the idea behind those decisions are.

Spread Sheet statistics perhaps? I've given up trying to find any Logic on the Dev pages it always follows the same pattern nowadays , A new to the game ship starts out ok then emerges like Champagne, Odin and now Belfast, an event/collaboration ship that's already in game tends to go down the Copy, Nerf the reload and Paste route. But Hey they always look good 10/1 to the Graphics Dept

I was looking forward to Strasbourg but I stopped reading the updates after a while :Smile_sad:
