PT 0.9.10 - Big Hunt: Key to Victory!

Commanders!

A new temporary battle type—Key Battles—has been added to celebrate Halloween. A new themed Port emphasizes the event's atmosphere. Demonstrate your skills in an exhibition competition of the future by assuming command over a ship representing one of three corporations!

 

The new battle type pits 16 players against each other and AI-controlled monsters on a gigantic Polygon map. The main objective is to exit the Polygon through a portal located at the center of the map. In order to do so, you need to destroy one of the special monsters and obtain a key. The monsters will initially be quite weak, but they will become more dangerous as you get closer to the portal.

Instead of the usual rectangular Minimap, the new battle type features a round one with the player's ship at its center. It shows everything within the spotting range of your ship.

You start out alone, but you can gather a team of up to three ships directly in battle. Only one player can use the key, which is why you'll face a choice—go all the way with your allies, or turn your guns against them and escape as a lone wolf via the portal. To invite a player to your team, aim at them and press F.

The number of keys is limited. After the last key has been used, the remaining ships will be transported to a special area—the Octagon. The final battle takes place in a gradually shrinking combat zone. The last surviving ship will also leave the Polygon successfully.

For destroying monsters and other players, you'll get a temporary resource—Battle Points. Having accumulated a certain number of Battle Points, you can reinforce your ship directly in battle. For example, you can reduce incoming damage or increase the damage dealt by your guns. Once you earn a certain number of Points, a window will appear. This will allow you to select one of the two improvements. Use Ctrl+1 and Ctrl+2 to select. You don't need to spend any Points to make your selection.

Any Points you earn can be exchanged for various rewards in the Armory. Successfully escaping the Polygon will bring you additional Battle Points. Please note: exiting through the portal will get you more Points than winning in the Octagon.

 

A total of three ships are available for this battle type in Update 0.9.10. Each of them offers a wide variety of modules that can have a significant impact on gameplay. For example, you could replace standard torpedoes with a type that temporarily disables all the main armaments of an enemy, but deal less damage. The choice of weapons is not limited to simple guns—lasers, plasma torpedoes, wavecasters, and mortars are all at your disposal. For example, wavecasters can destroy torpedoes in the water, while plasma ammunition heats up the target's armor and temporarily increases the damage dealt by subsequent hits of plasma shells and torpedoes to the same area. New modules are unlocked by completing special combat missions.

The first ship will be available immediately, while the second and the third are obtained by completing a chain of combat missions.

 

The rewards for activities on the Public Test server may differ from those on the live server.

At first I found it quite bizarre, but after I understood it is quite funny - like last years torpedoboat-madness.

- I like the energy-management-feature in the "techno-smolensk"

- it is nice that I can go to battle even when my ship is still in the last.

- the modular setup of these ships is nice

Think the cruiser is fairly balanced, the destroyer is straight up fun AND powerful, but that Battleship.... only thing i think its good at is blapping the boss, any competent player will circle you to death. Insta-180 is bloody hilarious though:fish_aqua:

Feel like it's a lot slower paced than last year and feels quite boring, especially not being able to div up with friends.
Can we have some clarifications on different outcomes? Sometimes you enter the portal and you win. Other times you enter it and you're sent to the octagon.

The AP seems really inconsistent when it comes to citadels...

I'm not sure that I understand this upcoming new Halloween mode on PTS...
I destroyed one monster right ar the start of the game and 5 seconds later other Kraken monster just surfaced underneath my ship, destroying me at first contact with a ram?! What was I supposed to do here?! :D
I guess that new mode still needs a lot of work before coming to the live server...:/

This actually can happen, as they are sailing swimming towards you. But if you have ramming upgrade/setting, you should be able to survive that. You can see the shadow of the monster while he is underwater.

Next time just try to avoid that. I tried the ram with that monster too, with the same result.

To be able to exit through portal you have to get one of 4 keys, which some of those huge monsters have. Or kill another player, who has the key to steal it from him. Also you need to pay attention, when the portal is open to actually exit through that. When the portal closes, all remaining players will be transfered to Octagon, where only the last one will win.

i love this gamemode a lot and it's so fun!

can we have an event where is located in space again?

i love this event, what will we be able to get through the armory with the halloween points? also, why can't i enter in the clan in-game page?

So space event was dedicated as a April Fools one and still is not sure, that it will return. It wasn't this year, though...

I still can't tell you, what you will be able to buy for Battle Points, you will see yourself, closer to the release of 0.9.10 to the live server.

Thank you for your advice, at the end 0% problems here... I just played my second game and smash in it, so everything is just fine...🙂

It's a strange mode a little frustrating that you cannot go into battle divisioned up with friends. One thing I noticed is the sea monsters do not have a health bar and cannot be locked onto, is this deliberate as a test of our aim or a bug?

I'm struggling to see the point of this game mode.

 

First off it's not terribly obvious what the objectives are or how to achieve them. 

 

After a few tries and watching flamu it seems that there are 4 keys available and thus 4 players can portal out and win, the remaining players then get into a free for all and the last survivor also wins

 

In the end I managed to portal out and in return I got slightly more "B" than usual.  What is "B", it doesn't appear in the armory, I can't find it anywhere else in the game, it doesn't appear to have any purpose.

Think some players are struggling with the concept that once only four boats left and four keys you all win! Providing they have collected them.

 

Great game mode, unfortunately ran into an invisable island have to look at replay to locate.

 

And has the BB got a cloak as the one I played against last night kept fading in and out of the game.

 

And finally just a thought but withh everything else going on would a coop game not have been a better option, maybe a Christamas special 'Saving Santa's Helpers'

First it took me a couple of games to find my way around, since no description whatsoever were given. Then how to find that key is still a mystery to me. 

I think it may be somehing for a part of the players, but not for me. I like the normal WOWS and what I would like is for you guys to find solutions for bad play and forget about all these new gadgets for a while.

Also introducing CV's that are way out of the normal frame does not help to keep the game popular with a lot of players

The purpose of joining a div in this game mode is not clear to me. I was having plenty of success simply murdering every other player I could find. I don't think I ever died in an engagement I took the initiative in.

a friend was playing with heracles  with minimum graphic settings and when he fired (the red version) using the binocular he was "angled" how to explain it... was if like he wasn't at the center of his turret.

and when he fired he couldn't see if HE fired the beams.

any help? idk where is the bug report topic

edit as i find other thingiessss:

when my friend choses gale and picks one of the three of the bottom right modules it doesn't change anything, the description is the same and it doesn't simply change anything at all

It would be good, if he can try to make screenshots or give replay to probably examine the problem.

The Naval base port is much "American".
The atmosphere is right, it gives the sense of industriousness and of free time togheter with dedicated areas.
Interesting the geo displacement, with a natural in and out from the bay.
Very nice in the details of tower cranes and train in movements and other things... excellent work.

 

Talking about american containers, very beautiful to see in their strong aspect.
Just one thing, i will have preferred a "Stars and Stripes" textures and a golden eagle instead of a grey and steel colors.
Very interesting the american collection, a cross-section of important characters with pretigious archivements.

A little of historical memories that needs to be learned and enhance from every of us, very good.

 

For the Halloween event, the Key Battle mode, truly a great work in the setting.
Interesting mix based on Off-World colonies of Blade Runner and a semi-infernal atmosphere on the sea.
The creatures are a great product of excellent work, but i will have preferred more badly and the most important thing: more types of them.
I didn't like the game mode that you have chosen for this Halloween; it doesn't make any sense for me, the importance of a Team doesn't exist in this mode.
1 vs all and all vs 1, for get a key and escape in the infinite...
and if you don't get a key, all vs all in Octagon, most of the times you are alone vs N ships and even in the rare times i got in a divison it ends always in a 1 vs 1 fight.
2 questions, who is the enemy? where is Halloween?
The 3 ships realized for this game mode are beatiful and at level of design they are just great, special modules and weapons recall too much at events of Star Wars.
In counclusion, an excellent general work, lack of a team with an objective, ships too futurisitic for being associetated to Halloween.

I really like the fact that the battle is over the moment you sink.

No waiting, instantly battle on - that makes the game so dynamic and motivates me to another round. :Smile_medal:

Yup, I am a big fan of this feature as well: I am also really enjoying the more fast-paced tempo that these battles can offer. 😉

I usually like these events and this one shows potential too, but i just spent a full 5 minutes without seeing a single enemy or monster before being transported to the final fight. Was too bored to start another game after that
