i figured out how anti ship missiles could work.

instead of following the curved trajectories of shells, they would fly up vertically, then fly horizontally to the target before descending at about 45 degress.

but, importantly, they would fly over terrain.

 

the counter to this would be, they would take at least a third longer, if not twice as long to reach the point of aim than average shells of the tier. meaning they could be dodged, and would also be susceptible to AA fire. giving a useful reason to use aa spec, even with no cv in play.

 

giving them a clear role in countering peek-a-boo and bow tank play.

 

they could be sci-fi'd onto ships by hull options that replace float-plane decks with VLS hatches.

Since we're on the topic of introducing new weapon mechanics, I think giving Yamato the wave motion cannon would be a good idea so that it can match up with the newer ships that were introduced. Perhaps it can be balanced out with a long reload time and of course, only in the direction where the ship is facing.

That is a great Idea...

 

...for another Game. Missiles just make for a totally different Gameplay.

I do not think that you can implement them into the Game.

You know, we already have those missiles. They are disguised as planes.
