0.9.9.0 unlisted change - constant fps drops

Since 0.9.9.0 update today the occasional frame drops have become more of a regular thing. Several times per minute my game has the hick ups - smooth 75fps (game and monitor refresh rates), then a noticeable freeze for a few frames, and continue from the mid 50s FPS values.

Small update.

Did this in graphic settings and the issues is slightly improved.

- disable small object

- enable vertical sync (native 75hz monitor)

This "fix" seems to work for some players, I tried it today and it seems the stutter is gone.

This is like 50/50 rant and hoping maybe someone finds a fix.

I occasionally used to have those little stutters some others have reported lately aswell. But very rarely and it didnt really bother me.

Went to play a game just now... yeah, pretty much unplayable. Every time, an enemy ship got detected my game lagged for a good second. Every time i zoom in to shoot, game lags aswell. This happened until like half the ships in the game were dead, then it stopped.

I just lowered some graphic setting to medium, while i used to have pretty much eveything on high. Alltho both guys i played with had the same issues, and we have different settings to begin with, so im not sure if any of this helps...

I guess its also one way to kill a game, by just making in unplayable for some :cap_fainting:

Yes. Played 1 Coop: perfectly smooth, as smooth as it has never been. I go to randoms: my game freezes everytime an enemy pops up.

lol, managed to open up a thread aswell :cap_haloween:

Guess it became a much bigger issue now... Atleast for me, pretty much unplayable. Basicly no fun at all, and chance for getting blapped increases dramaticly.

Happens in Coop as well

I turned on vsync and triple buffering and will see how it behaves

Interesting. Im already in Discord crosschecking settings with a couple of other guys, but we run vastly different gfx settings. Was trying to pinpoint maybe a setting, to reduce it but it looks like a mystery to me. Care to share a screenshot of your gfx settings, since its happening to you in coop aswell?

Come on guys IT CANNOT BE a game issue.

It must be all of your net providers, your local internet cable, your computer or somewhere between the servers and your IP.

There is no way it is the game's fault as it is always told us by other commenters.

Yup, same here. Alltho less than in randoms. More like those micro-stutters we used to have, but more frequent. Every time a ship gets detected, or dies, it lags :cap_fainting:

I'm getting ~20 fps drops every time a new ship is being displayed.

Turned vsync and triple buffering on, no change. Settings below.

Spoiler

It is autumn. Autumn has adverse effects on data transfer rates. Bytes are preparing for hibernation by overeating, so they tend to get stuck in the cables.

Insane lag spikes here... Stuttering here and there and then occasional total freeze lag spikes for like 3-5s and then rubberbanding. A lot worse than in the previous update.

Edit : 4790k + rtx2060 + 16gb + 100/10mb cable. Rebooted the router, no effect.

game refusing to load battles, when finally in game stuttering and crazy fps. unplayable.

Thats strange, on my end apart from the stutter moment the FPS is fine 60 with vsync and 75 or so without it no drops there, I didnt notice actual lag as such altgough my ISP had some gremlin infestation nationwide last couple of days so it would be something to expect...

I use 2 PC  wich gives awkward results :

1) older I5 3,4 Ghz 16 Gb DDR3  with radeon R9 280 3Gb DDR5 : no issues whatsoever

2) newer i3 ( 4 core ) 3.6 Ghz 16 GB DDR4 with Nvidia 1050 Ti 4Gb DDR5 : stuttering and freezing.

Same connection ( 250 mbit up/50 down/ 11 ping ) wich is actually always consistently reached. No bottlenecks there.

Both systems have 2 x SSD and 1 TB HDD on SATA 6 connection of the same brand/type. Games are on a different SSD then OS/virtual memory. Updated all drivers, including BIOS.

So i am at al loss what the difference is.....except for obvious differences in CPU and GPU and likely their drivers and WOWS interaction with them ?

The thing is the i3 system has stuttering effects in some other games too......like 2 point hospital for instance. Offline aswell. While my i5 notebook ( 1.6 Ghz 6 core )  and i5 PC run that game flawlessly. But no problems for the i3 in a wide range of other games. It has to be the programming....

Not really strange.

What would be useful and helpful would be to understand the reasons for these differences in user experience. I guess we can depend on devs to sort through tech and bug reports, and then to find a solution.

maybe because that nvidia update is for the RTX 3080 stability issue

One thing i have noticed with this update is ping rate has gone up but 10-15 points. used to have a 20 ping but is now between 30-34. this isnt being caused at my end as i have noticed certain streamers having the same thing

I have stuttering in port but not in game.

2 games played just now, between 60 & 80 fps with a ping of 35ms.

Seemed to average around 75fps most of the time.

Had an update to the game centre first.

All drivers etc up to date....

System Core i7 3770k at default clock of 3.6GHz but on auto in high end motherboard (I have seen all cores at 4.7GHz in Forza!!!)

16GB Corsair RAM, GTX 1070fe and running off ssd.

in game settings:
