Hi all,

How did you like the "Asymmetric Battles Mode" that just finished?

I personally liked it and managed to finish grind of my several "forgotten" Tier VII and Tier VIII lines without much fuss...  :Smile_medal:

Lower Tier (Tier V and Tier VI):

60 games

32 Victories

28 defeats

WinRate = 53.33%

Credits Earned = 7M

Average Battle time: 7 minutes and 10 seconds

I was playing for the 1st victory in Anniversary event in this as well... :Smile_great:

Higher Tier (Tier VII and Tier VIII):

60 games

41 Victories

20 defeats

WinRate = 68.33%

Credits Earned =10M

Average XP = 3.5K

XP Grinded = 210K

Average Battle time: 9 minutes and 45 seconds

BTW, I only used the "Equal Speed Charlie London" flags for 50% more XP... :Smile_honoring:

My personal experience with BOTs in this:

When the event started the Higher Tier Team (i.e. Tier VII and Tier VIII) would have BOTs inside and it would be hard to win... but one still managed...

In later stages of  event the Lower Tier Team (i.e. Tier V and Tier VI) would have BOTs inside and it would be hard to win... but one still managed...

Played only four battles. Two times low tier vs. a almost all bot high tier team. Two times as top tier in an Enterprise (1 loss, 1 victory).

It was ... eh ... nothing too special, but some might find it appealing. A solid extra mediocre. Not great, not terrible.

I think it is a nice addition, as long as you are not playing bots. So I leave the queue after 2.5 minutes.

I liked it, but it works best when there aren't too many bots. Good to have reasons to play a wider range of ships, including all those nice Tier Vs.

Haven't played it. Too much other stuff to do ingame with the time I got for it. They should make these game mode testings a main event instead of pushing it in behind the Anchorage and 5th Ani events.

It wasn't impossible to win with bots, but it did start to push people back towards Random style timidity.

What was quite nice about the mode was that people weren't just "playing the meta", there was a lot more aggression and focus to gameplay, with the added bonus that people weren't stressing over WR and stats. This happened with the Sub battles, too.

Yep - exactly!

BTW; I used the "Submarine Battles" in Tier VI to grind my Tier VI RN CV... :Smile_great:

Therefore I really do like such additional game modes which can bring something new and different and, at the same time, enable players to grind their current lines! :Smile_honoring:

Used this mode to grind Implacable for Audacious Supercontainer and for unstocking Shokaku. Blaping TV DD's with rockets for 80% of their hp was very funny, especially when it was ships like Kamikaze or Gremyashchy :Smile_trollface: Solo Kongo blaped each airstrike with 2 citadels was also very funny and refreshing :Smile_trollface: but still not as funny pre rework Izumo deleted in one attack of Lex 0-1-3 ( DoT's ) As long as they were human players in both teams battles were interesting. Playing downtiers? Tried few times without much interesting but farmed daily points to play TVIII basicly to grind.

They could make this mode as permanent with griefers playing TV/TVI as punishment :Smile_trollface::Smile_trollface::Smile_trollface: In example 12 griefers and purposeful TK's on TV battleships must win battle against human driven 5 TVIII carriers! :Smile_teethhappy:

With less battles with bots and few changes this could be very nice, thats why neutral vote.

It was a way to farm easy XP with T8 ships. No point playing it with T5/T6 ships, as you cannot carry and your chance to win depends on the MM RNG. This was my PvP experience. In the beginning, when the high tier ships were mostly bots, then it was a good "operations" like co-op mode for tier 5 and 6 ships.

It was an okay mode. I played about a dozen games. 4/5 at low tier and the rest at high tier.

I had a couple of games on the low tier side. Where I was he only human and had to face a full human high tier side.  That certainly wasn't a fun experience and made worse by most of the low tier side being made up of T5 bot cruisers.  Having bots on the high tier side, didn't seem a problem at all.

I liked the concept but the execution was lacking. The MM and the bots made it hard to enjoy games decided on the loading screens.

But I managed to grind 3 T8s in it so no complaints here. T8 CVs were hilarious to play against T5 ships.

I liked the mode with human teams, but the bot fill up was not really working well. On either side you very likely lost having bots on your team. Or easily won if the enemy had bots in their team.

I wonder about the need for token access  limitation too...... if the power balance and with that win chance is roughly equal, it would not be needed one would say.

Overall i am very positive WG tries new things. And hopefully offers more then only Randoms and COOP in future as permanent modes. You can only have/use that many new ships....if you don't have new attractive/fitting modes/enviroments to use them in.

This mode would be much better without tier VIII CV's and bots. Played three battles on the low-tier team, 2/3 of ships had bot captains, each time my team was wiped out by fully man-operated top tier team. Idea of this mode looked pretty fun but the execution was awful.

Exactly as I found it, first few days low tier always won, later part of time top tier always won well mostly.

Played one battle where I had worked really hard in low tier dd to in a 7 vs. 5 (?!?!) to get even on ships only to lose the battle on points when the last enemy high tier UK CA ran off. We had an 'inspiring' last 2:30 min of endgame letting the timer run out. Didn't understand the game rules, guessed they were ahead on points because they had more ships to kill? Or was it that us low tier DD's couldnt get close to cap because of radar. Was bored instantly with a hint of dissapointment. Read about the bots in forum, lost interest.

The only thing that I found that limited the pleasure of playing was when there was a dominance of bots and they were only there because WG were failing to attract enough players.  The reduction in the number of bots seems to have occurred when a greater number of players found that they could profit from playing.  I just played because I liked the mode.  What I liked was that it became very obvious very early on that the Lo tier could only win if they played more as a team and less like a bunch of headless chickens. When there were sufficient Lo tier players who understood this, the standard of game improved. In random, the majority of players very rarely realise this and so it was possible for asymmetric battles to be better than random ones.  If you played late at night, as I sometimes do, there were so many bots that the battle became like co-op on both sides!

Far too many games decided by having just bots on your team. I'd say 60-70% of my battles had 6-8 bots in them on the lower tier. When playing low tier, it felt more like 80%, particularly after the first week.

I loved it I got to club some tier 8 seals in my kamikaze and then grind out some tier 8s I had been neglecting.

All the while without the usual levels of salt and bitterness that come with randoms.

Started off playing the low tiers (mainly T5 DDs), at which point the higher tier team was all bots; this phase was rather dull, I found, mainly due to being too easy to win.

Returned after doing other things for a couple of days, and switched to mainly T8 (DDs again), at which point things - for me - became really rather fun (unless the lower tiers were all/mainly bots.).

Overall, I liked the mode although I think it might need some tweaking - perhaps make the lower tier side a bit more numerous when the higher tier side has more than 2/3 (say) human players? Things with smoke/hydro (and/or radar) tend to be fairly monstrous against the lower tiers due to most of them not having an effective counter (apart from KM DDs).

It was nice that my Indomitable got some use.  Given the low healthpool and high number of targets across the map, it was a rare set of circumstances where the planes' speed had a time to shine.
