We invite you to take part in Asymmetric Battles—a new temporary battle type with teams of different sizes and tiers.

The new battle type is inspired by actual historical battles, which usually took place with an unequal number of ships on each side.

Asymmetric Battles Rules

  • A team of 5–7 Tier VII–VIII ships will fight against a team of 9–12 Tier V–VI ships in Domination mode. The types and numbers of ships are matched in such a way that the forces of both teams in battle are as equal as possible.
  • Battles will be fought on the following maps: Ultimate Frontier, Naval Station Newport, and Killer Whale.
  • To enter battle playing Tier VII–VIII ships, you'll need 500 Battle Tokens—a new temporary resource.
  • The Tokens are earned in Asymmetric Battles, regardless of the battle results. However, you won't receive the Tokens if you are inactive in battle.
    • Tier V: 250 Tokens per battle
    • Tier VI: 150 Tokens per battle
    • Tier VII: 200 Tokens per battle
    • Tier VIII: 25 Tokens per battle
    • You'll receive 1,000 Tokens each day upon logging in to the game.
  • If the waiting time spent by the first player in the queue exceeds 3 minutes, the teams in Asymmetric Battle can be complemented with bots.
  • You cannot form Divisions in Asymmetric Battles.
  • There will be no battle achievements in Asymmetric Battles.

 

Please note: Battle Tokens are only used to participate in Asymmetric Battles.

 

A special combat mission is available for Tier V–VI ships. Completing the mission will reward you with four Gift containers.

    This mode is crap, almost impossible to win as high tier. The idea was good but i didnt like it at all, the lower tiers just steamrolls the higher ones due to number.

     

    Submarine battles was even better.

     

    Not touching this crap again.

    it is not just that, but you have to pay 500 whatevers to play t7/t8 then get put on a team of Bots. Not fun, no comms, what is the point, allow anybody to play any ship in the bracket and puts them in such teams. Theonly 5 hooman vs howmany t7/t8 game, i had, we smashed them. great fun as well...

    I was positive about the idea of asymmetric battles, and I still think it has potential, but the amount of bots makes it impossible. Also why no divisions? Itis not like this mode would ever be a super competitive mode. Better allow for some fun with divisions imo

    - Why no divs? At least for T7-8 would be nice

    - 500 points for T7-8 is way too high (not many ppl play on them)

    - Playing on T7-8: Impossible to win. example: 5vs11 is way too hard because of cruiser spammers

    4 Games on T6 needed for 1 Game on T7-T8

    At least you only need 2 Games on T5 lol but barely anyone Plays T5

    There is not even a Discount for using T7

    Meanwhile Teams are usually about 2 Players T5-6 vs 1 Player T7-8

     

    So even if we assume everyone uses a T7-8 as soon as he is Capable of doing it. You would still need to Fill up 50% of the T7-8 Team with Bots because you Simply do not have Required Players Available on T7-8 to Fill a Team....

    Basic Math Fail on Wargamings Side really.

     

     

    Joining T7 should have been 250 and T8 should have been 350 Tokens.

    And the Game should not Allow Filling up with Bots.

    Otherwise this Test is Completely Meaningless and wont give any usable Results.

    Have to agree with Zooliz as the concept is excellent, WG, but the balance is wrong.

     

    I like the game mode but why on earth would I pay tokens to lose?

     

    Please just add a single higher-tier player to the enemy team, wait a week or two and repeat if necessary. Still, it's a nice way to grind reward camos!

    My first post on this forum... and the last !

     

    This mod is the most sh***y mode ever created on this game ! What happen in the dev mind ?

     

    1st game : low tier fleet, full players, all ten ships killed by +3 tier ships, no loose in the top tier fleet, less 10 min (genius, matchmaking sucks with gap of 2 tier, you add one more, seriously?!)

    2st game : low tier fleet, full players but ONLY BOT in top tier fleet !!! so DD rush and torp the bot, end game, less 4 min, no gain for BB and CA, yeah, so funny !

    3rd game : Top tier fleet, i 'm the only BB player in middle of 4 bot with 2 CV 1 CA 1 DD !!!! totally useless aircraft, sunk in less 5 min by SEVEN, SEVEEENNN BB !

     

    Seriously, the concept is so stupid... wasted development time, you'd better take that time to work on game balancing !

    Great concept but the balance is off. There are just too many low tier ships against too few high tier boats meaning that high tier loses almost always. Also too many bots in high tier although these bots are actually the better bots. I gotta congratulate WG for making better bots than some normal players.

    Tells everything there is to say, I believe. 
    I'm the only player in my team, and the whole low tier team has 7DDs. 

    I think the big mistake here is to allow bots in the top tier team. Top tiers are at a tactical disadvantage already, and then you add liabilities with which it's impossible to coordinate.

    Why did they initially create the 500 battle token requirement for playing higher tiers?

     

    Was the assumption that everybody wanted to be high tier and they want to force people into playing low tier also?

    If "playing high tier" was a permanent feature, once unlocked, probably "yes: after a while you could se a depopulated low-tiered team"...

    ... the problem is that the "cost" is so unbalanced that now there are not enough "high tier" players (and probably never will be) so it's just a  "low tier players team vs hi tier bots with (sometime) unlucky player in it"

    Nice thought these asymmetric battles, praise to WG for the effort.

    Am very glad the desirable "rewards" are still ok with a win or lose, kudos for that aswell WG.


    To bad that the type of ships are not "mirrored" in any way.

    Yesterday playing t6 cruiser or dd ment you could eat the t8's and t7's alive with all dd and "high" dpm smoke cruisers.

    Even had a battle where the t8 had two carriers and rest bots, needless to say it ment a sure win.

     

    Today played a T6 bb and we had no dd nor cv and we got rinsed by the enemy t8 Implacable,  t8 Oland and a T7 Gneis.

    It has to be said our remaining t6 bb, had no clue how to support nor cover caps and they sailed around the killer whale islands surrounding the caps.

    our entire team got killed and the ships on the nme team as mentioned all survived.

    Killed 20 planes in my PEF and the rest got like 8 max pp, balanced AA right lol

     

    Nice try in implementing this game mode, sadly the lack of any tutorial for the noobs(bb anyone?)

    makes it very bad game-play most of the times.

    It is a nice idea... however I will not play the high tier teams, because for example this, when using AP on a T7 like Atlanta, and fire them at a T6 like Bayern... this is the result (0.9.8):

    I mean fire 196 shells to get 168 hits to get 5k dmg on a T6 ? If I extrapolate that, do devs really believe I get a chance to fire 1700 shells at a T6 todo 50k dmg?

     

    For people who want to respond to this with "you are fireing at the wrong angle". Please don't bother. Ricochets and non-pens at this rate are really NO FUN. I don't care about the angle.

     

    Detail result for that ship, the 102 hits / 16k dmg is also laughable... what a POOR design choice...:
