Something has changed with WoWs - graphics

I've been suffering with stutter and micro lag in the game the past 2 days. I also noticed that the graphics for the post game screens have changed, almost blurry. Also the hit scores come up much slower than previously, almost lagging too, have WoWs got a server (ish) issue or is there a problem with the game graphics?

So it was not only me feeling that there is very little stuttering. I did the indian IT-service 101 and restarted the game, after that it felt better.

Something has definitely changed. Since the last update I have stutters/lags etc. Never had any issue running this game and now it’s bordering on unplayable. It’s pretty bad when I zoom in and out, also when explosions happen.

I don’t usually start updating gfx drivers etc when things are fine my end but I did this time, hasn’t helped.

Probably "improvements" that work as intended according to some excel file.:Smile_trollface:

I have been experiencing some of these "improvements" myself. :Smile_izmena:

Also when I click on a ship's icon in the carousel, the carousel gets shifted to the left and turns that ship icon in the leftmost/first icon.

You might try running full repair from WGC settings. I did (due to flag mod problems). Then the WGC gave me an error message and I had to press the Check and install button in the lower right corner. The flag mod problem got solved. I manually change the FPS (after every update) to make the game run more balanced.

That may or may not help. I have noticed more lag spikes and occasional stutter lately myself. I have custom graphics settings, not max, not minimum either. I'm not sure the problem is necessarily with graphics, it might be server side.

Same on my end, especially when pressing "SHIFT" to scope in, and also when an enemy ship gets spotted on the minimap. It's not laggy per say, just that microsecond stutter during the game does become noticable, and it's fairly random at times.
I do realise lately that for me, it seems when someone gets spotted on the minimap and/or when quickly zooming in during battle.

same here, the games sometimes has hiccups, like missing 3 or 4 frames in a row. Framerate drops from 60 to 45 for 2 or 3 seconds before going back to normal

I set the FPS at fixed 30, however, I have detected more variation lately. Instead of being fairly stable at 30/31 it has at times dropped to 27 or so.

yes, I capped it at 60 because otherwise my laptop feeding my 2560x1440 monitor overheats :-(

BTW, I actually have no idea if the FPS should somehow match your monitor frequency or if that is irrelevant. The default 75 seems a little odd regardless. I went for 30 FPS because that should be enough if you consider how tv and movies are standardized at 24 FPS.

well, 50 Hz up is much more easy on the eyes.

30 FPS looks stuttery to me.

TVs have special features that smoothes the stuttering, and many are also using interlacing.

I guess the default FPS has been set at 75 because above that the human eye is unable to see the difference more FPS make.

Hmm.. I'll have to experiment a bit. Seems you are usually satisfied with the 60 FPS setting then?

yes, 59 or 60 Hz are fine, that refresh rate is very close to the maximum the human eye can perceive.

that's why most screens made in the past 10 years used that frequency.

Kitakami just entered Live testing so the servers are getting choked on 40+ extra torps per ship flying around every 3 minutes :Smile_trollface:

Got those lags too, especially in the early game phase (min 1-3), thought I’m going nuts or something in my pc broke.
