The reason for WG to create AL ships is that AL players go to Warships and get their waifus, the problem is when WG decides that players from AL have to spend a lot of money and basically treats AL as a product they got the rights to and are selling it to Warship players, this means the AL players look at the price tags and leave, this is a problem with Warship marketing department who clearly have no idea what they are doing, their idea of getting new players is the whole "recruitment" pyramid scheme that is clearly not working considering how increasing they been pushing it.

 

AL on the other hand tries to get people in with their collaboration side of things because, not because of "the grind" and "investment" since this aint the Gulag, people dont have to play the game and taking players as assured its hubris, their colab is going to be easy because its always best to get new players eased in so they remain with the game for a longer time, not shove their faces with €160 bundles because all that achieve is scare then away, in fact if WG marketing was smart (and it aint) they would actually sell those under "normal" price since that is a better way to get people to buy stuff they otherwise would not, for new players a "cheaper Roma" is going to look better that "Roma with a 10 points commander" at a higher cost.

 

On a personal note.

 

I would had brought AL Littorio if it was Imperio (and I am not sure what come about Imperio, BTW good job of bait-and-switch your CCs that I am sure dont mind that at all) or if it was with Roma pricing, since all I am paying for is a Roma with different textures and a normal 10 points commander I might as well just get Roma, WG doesnt understand why collaborations work and since they go down to selling a product, if I am buying a can of soup then I will buy the cheaper one when the only difference of the two is the colors of the label.

I don't want to stand on WG's side too much, but we have proof that they DO know how to do collabs. Remember Arpeggio of Blue Steel? You could grind out ALL the ships and ALL the captains for FREE! (Until their contract ended) So they do know how to properly execute a collab, but I think their eyes have turned to $ u $ too much at this point.

The ARP collab got me even more into WoWS, since they did pretty well back then.

i stumbled wows during it's beta because wanted to sail some digital boats after i had watched Arpeggio of Bluesteel
as you can imagine, finding out that Arp was doing a collab hyped me up for the game so much, more than any event ever has since i dare say.
ships were just tech tree clones but they were free and had flashy skins.
i've stayed with the game always hoping for more Arp content one day.

HSF collab was ok, we got a yamato skin for free, some capts and most notably HSF Harakaze was added to the game(which i threw money at the moment i could)

Azur Lane's collab feels awfully done. Over the course of the collab we got some free capts and gimped(tweaked) tech tree clones for sale.
Literally nothing that made me think "ooh i want that"
Best thing i got from Azur Lane collab so far has been the manjuu flag

These anime events(and events in general) now just reeks of bad monetization methods.
I'm pretty sure WG realises their playerbase is more than willing to fork out money for bad but interesting ships.
So why do things like the AL ships even exist? ~~'
I'm certain there is a much larger percentage of people who would buy an AL ship if it was actually different than what they were cloning.
Wouldn't sales for Roma and Littorio be higher if they were actually different ships? Them having basically the same hard stats naturally drives a portion of customers away(eg; those people who already have roma, you know those people who have already spent money on the game and is likely to spend again)

I can understand that money needs to be made somewhere and wages need to be paid etc..
but there are so many better monetization methods out there xD
current version of dockyard being treated to something like a season pass for other games is a nice step

stop with the lootboxes and just develop some actual content for us to pay for instead
like make Captains that add a Captain model onto the ship in game just standing on deck somewhere. Pretty sure a lot of weebs would pay for their waifu on board.

Hello, seems like Roon is missing some voice lines, all in game orders over the  F-buttons are silent. Shokaku seems to be fine. I didn't test the others yet.

Hmmm so i noticed the pictures of Atago with azur lane skin in the store appeared with historical AA layouts but when i checked the Atago in the game it still has only one single barrle type 96 ?

@MrConway this might be true but you can only pruchase the old camos in a bundle. (e.g.Hood , Enterprise ...) this is annoying

Only if tig ol bitties content in WoWs was actually worth investing into... The same money is much better spent on AL and then getting prem ship of choice in WoWs.

 

My main issue with "AL" camouflages is they just don't look AL, just some random (technically, reusing character palette) colors that could pass as regular camo. Closest to "AL" would be Atago ears pasted onto bow and even that is hardly noticeable.

 

WoWs Blitz AL camouflages, or rather remodels is something I'd expect, albeit I have difficulties imagining how such Atago skin would look. I guess plain grey hull/turrets, to match her rigging but white superstructure with gold buttons/line/decals, her sword somewhere in the back and her ears for rangefinders?

Blitz AL camo, is kinda Halloween/space camo, but yeah i understand why people want more for their money.

I'm wondering why no one is more upset about the fact, that three out of six bundles include camos for ships that are no longer for sale and might never return to the shop. Yet, they are used to calculate the price of each bundle and there are no alternatives to buy the other items without paying for Enterprise and Belfast skins as well.

 

Imagine Volkswagen forcing you to buy heated seats for a Kubelwagen when you just want to buy an upgrade pack for your Golf.

 

@MrConway why don't you guys put Enterprise and Belfast back on sale for as long the Azur Lane event is running? That way everyone could at least make use of everything they are paying for - and - you would make sure that the salt supplies for the current ranked season won't run low... ;)

I just checked her and she seemed fine, at least the F-keys provoked some interesting sounding noises and sentences ;)

The joke is putting camos from unavailable ships on a bundles forcing people to spend money on a camo they cannot use as a way to raise the cost of bundle.

But this side of collaboration is a joke anyway, I am waiting until its over so something useful or interesting might be added to premium store.

Hello, I checked it today again, the F-key commands work if I use them myself. I didn't used the keys the last days because these keys are broken on my keyboard at the moment, so used it over the b key today. But I don't hear anything if allies use this commands, for example asking for help.

 

edit 2h later:

I realised that every captain of mine isn't saying anything if others using the fast commands over the f-keys. After that i completly reinstalled the gameand still got no sound from the fast commands of other ships. Do I remember wrong? I'm sure that I heard a voice if other were using the fast commands.

Partly. I have to admit, that I would be the first to buy Enterprise. It's sad that some of the most iconic ships are not accessible in the game. Something must have gone wrong if it is easier to stand at the helm of the real Belfast than doing so in a game called World of Warships. Yet, it might hurt the game quite a lot, it is saddening that there seems to be no satisfying solution for this issue.

 

Speaking of solutions: How about a compensation one can apply for. So everyone who has no ship to put the camo he just bought on, can have the camo removed from the account and be compensated in doubloons, while everyone who wants to keep it for some future luck with Christmas Containers or policy changes just ignores it.

 

It might not be elegant, but at least it would be fair.

Feels like little effort went into this from WGs side.
