Low tier without seal clubbing

It seems to be often stated that playing bottom tier ships is done to beat up on new players that arent as good. This may be the case for some. However I just enjoy playing a lot of those low tier ships. Simpler gameplay without things like radar, spotter planes, heals and if you got right down to tier 1 or 2 no planes.

I often play bottom tier co-op to have fun in the more basic ships but avoid feeling like I'm beating up on new players. Sometimes in comments it seems like others enjoy the low tier ships too.

Perhaps the MM could be tweaked a little so that in random battles those that had played more than a certain number of matches would not be put in a match with those that had played under that threshold number? That way we could all enjoy even the lowest tier ships without feeling like we were picking on the new players.

Newbie protection was just increased to 200 battles...

This is already the case. Players with less then 200 games on their account cant be matches up against anyone with 201+ games in matches of T1 to T4.

Really? Thats really good to hear. So I can play random battles without worrying that my not-quite-so-potato isnt putting off completely-fresh-potato from playing the game :)

If there is a mechanism in place it seems odd that some still feel that playing lowest tier ships is seal clubbing.

[Edit: Oh and thanks for the info ColonelPete and ForlornSailor]

Putting rediculous "worth" on a high WR, and then claiming you are a game expert and the only one that may speak ( and behave in toxic ways toward lower WR players - often without punishment - )  does that for you......it is called "perverted stimilus"

And ruiining the game experience of less experienced players for personal gain ( that is outside of the game reward system ) is not the only game experience ruiining things these individuals do....But beware....you can even be forum banned adressing it as forums seem the place to bragg and boast with very suspicious high WR's, and using them to tell others to shut up.

But then again all PvP games suffer such individuals. It is nothing special sadly. Probably just Human nature, some needing to feel better then others and if they are  ( very often ) not, do everything possible to make appear they are. The expression "seal clubbing" did not originate from this game....

We could need the same for hightiers :Smile_hiding:

But... but... sealclubbing tier 10s with tier 8 is peak of this game:cap_cool:

The only thing needed in my view, is a cap on captain skills. Tier 5 and lower, captains with under 10 points. Problem solved.

Being a veteran and playing well at tier 4 is not seal clubbing. A three-man Vampire-Kuma-Hosho division, each with 15-point captains, is just being an a$&h&(e and what makes low tiers unfun.

If i can get away with ending up 1st place in T8 ranked in a 8 km (!)  "concealed" DD because of a low point captain, and with not public stats considered to be a bad player.....where does that leave your theory ?

I'm affraid exactly knowing how game mechanics work ( acting in tiers with still inexperienced players ) is a much higher advantage then skills/modules that give slight advantages. And very important : these slight advantages skills and modules give need to be actively incoperated in your tactics ! Fail that and they do nothing.

Only relevant captain skill is Concealment and for destroyers, Last Stand. Rest is "nice to have" but hardly "must have".

I agree absolutely. Level the playing field (captain points), then let the best tactician win. Obviously more experienced players will have the advantage, but that's not seal clubbing.

The real problem is, that we have captain skills, that give you a huge advantage, so they are a straight up must have. If you think, a T5 DD with a 10 point captain is sealclubbing, because he has concealment expert - then you surly think, a T8 DD is sealclubbing.

A whooping protection! I'm sure the 201th battle they're read to go against people like El2 in a tier 4 CV!

  • 200 battles is long enough to get out of Tier IV
  • such unicums are rarely found on Tier IV...

*Maybe*, but T4 and lower - T5s get +2 MM, and really rather need access to at least ten-pointers.

The obvious down-side for WG would be that they would stop selling 10 point captains to newbies as they couldn't use them any more...

I don’t usually play low tiers except when I re-grind some lines. But when I do, I club the clubbers:Smile_trollface:

I enjoy the low tiers as it's reminder of the older days of WoWs with Close Combat and guns going off all directions. Higher Tier Meta with the CVs and HE Spam melting deck armour means a lack of decent brawls most games as everybody is afraid of going beyond 12 KM.

If WG did that think of all the Peacocks who claim their WR is so good... If they actually had to play the higher tiers their WR would come crashing to the ground and their computers, their Laptops would be all flooded out by their salty tears.

WG already did that, as explained...

No salty tears detected, except yours...

which wouldn't work, as the T4 would still have to face T5 with the 10pt captains then... so not really anything solved... ^^
