Thanks to the lack of option to mute the sound of the bell on BB's main guns and turret traverse on all classes (asked for both and was ignored) without touching any other effect, the "General volume level" is on the max left corner (Audio is completely OFF), and I don't think it will change any time soon.

Nothing scares me these days as Sound updates. I can cope with bots, idiots, CVs, torpedos, hell even submarines. Nothing is more scary than hearing shell hits on ship 20km away more louder than my own rudder....

@The_EURL_Guy @Crysantos
I kind of like it, due to less watching on my ribbons if I'm ricocheting or non penetration.
But since many don't like this change, can you put up an Original and Enhanced option for gun and damage sounds in settings?
So players can choose what they want to have.

When the sound quality is set to Ultra, your sounds will be at their most intense and detailed. However, make sure your PC is powerful enough to handle it. It's also advisable to have high-quality speakers or earphones; otherwise you won't be able to appreciate the game's sounds on maximum settings.

Has anyone at WG actualy tried this with earphones? Because the turret rotation sound on headphones drives me crazy... Like there is a mosquito in my ear..
This whole sound redesign was so unnecessary... Literealy noone asked for it and it's not even an improvement..
Same goes for the equipment tab. That redesign is so amateurish, it's sad to think that was the best they could come up with. And again, noone asked for it. Why not spend money and resources on fixing the bugs (hello desync!) or the game balance? Things your customers actualy want you to change..

Turn down gunfire volume, or just zoom out so the camera isnt close to the turrets.
Also turn on Wide dynamic range if you want other sounds louder/quieter.

WG is obsessed with changing things nobody asked for and that don't need to be changed and in return ignoring serious bugs and extreme lack of QoL things that even the cheapest indie games offer since the early 2000's.

My first game on this new update.

I agree the sounds are... not the best update. Unnecessary at best.

But there was this music... creepy as hell but brilliant... and I haven't heard it since. Almost reminded me of the music from the Resident Evil movie.

The map was twin brothers, it was only a few hours after the update if that.

the new sounds are so cartoonish that it's just stupid, i've talked to several others, even random people in matches, and they all say the same, this "audio update" is such an horrid thing that it has actually made me mute the entire game and instead just listen to..well..nothing.

Regarding the voices. Even with the radio effect slider completely off there are still statics effect in voice messages which can make them really hard to understand sometimes. It's even worse when you playa cv and all the voices are in that radio effect, good luck earing anything over the sound of the plane engine and that static effect.

Really those changes were unecessary

I've heard more immersive and realistic sound effects in a 1950's Bugs Bunny.

Please let us know when you've fixed them so I can turn the sound back on and try again.

Allready have Wide dynamic range on. And I like gun sounds, just no the super anoying turret traverse.

Turning off gun sounds is like me asking how to trim my nails and you suggesting I chop off my fingers....

Because of the strange cartoony nature of the new sound effects, I turned the "damage audio volume" to nought. The problem with that is, you have no audio feedback anymore for people shooting at you, be it water splashes or shell explosions, which is far from ideal. So yes, please fix your sounds...

Apart from the horrible sound design of the effects themselves, it feels very unnatural and even immersion-breaking to hear the exact same sounds you'd hear on your ship played when you hit a ship miles away. And at the exact same time you see the hits.

Here, a small delay (less than it would be in reality for the distance of course), maybe one or two seconds, depending on how great the distance is, as well as a (much!) reduced volume would provide people with a better sense of distance, and greater immersion in general.

As it is at the moment, it's just putting me off.

Edit: And you can see this topic is important to me as this is only my 5th post on the forums. :Smile_unsure:

Who thought it would be a good idea to have a constant, insufferable "ping pong pang pow" noise, including from something you are shooting at 20km away? The software development intern fresh out of Uni with no idea of what they are doing?

You guys need to change your company culture and start challenging stupid design decisions and stop going "Yes that is a great idea" when its a big pile of cack. And then looking like a deer caught in the headlights when you get moaned at about it.

As you can see by the screenshot, I have had to turn the damage volume down to almost minimum to make this bearable on a decent set of headphones with a good quality soundcard.

So what is a problem ;-) ? [ALL] WoWs 0.9.5.0 sound

Just tried that, and it's soo good!!

I really don't understand how ppl at wargaming ok'd the new sound.

Is there no internal QA/QC??? Or is the culture so toxic at WG that there is no self critique possible?

Lately we see so many examples of "improvements" that are straight up worse then the original..

I like the new sound updates but it would be cool if you could expand the user music folder so you dont have battle music playing in harbor. Like the ability to create a harbor folder for peaceful menu music and a seperate battle folder with sub folders of the different nations. That way you can put japanese drum songs or something into the jap folder fortunate sun into the american folder and so on. The game would then use the songs that are in the folder of the ships nation that you are playing at the moment.

I cant get the user music to work at all after the update..

Hi Captain, have you tried to move the directory "userMusic" from C:\Games\World_of_Warships_EU\res   to   C:\Games\World_of_Warships_EU\bin\XXXXX(*)\res? 😊

Cannot the user music playing either in any way, even using the new location under bin/xxxx/res/userMusic folder. Using different types of mp3 files to try (I mean, different bitrates of sampling) to no effect. One could expect a better documentation from a game that moves such much money. Instead, in the settings still is said to place your music under the /res/userMusic folder. Please, WG, it is so easy to do it right...

Spoiler

the new path is  World_of_Warships_EU\BIN\123567\res\userMusic

WARNING! Save before updates because res and res_mod contents will be erased  at each update.
