Poll: Do you like the new sounds?

We got new sound effects with the latest patch. How many of you like/hate them?

I like the ricochet sound but the rest are terrible.

I like them! Ricochet sound, airctaft engine starting, aircraft passing nearby, all that sounds absolutely stunning, especially on 7.1 system. I think WG has done very good job here.

The ricochet sound is really good.

The rest is at best worthy of revision. The engine start sound is awful. At the beginning i thought i had tinitus. Menu sounds in the harbour are totally overdriven as well as some guns. Over stereo it's kind of okay but over headphones it's just awful. Another good example of worsening improvement.

The ricochet sound effects are super annoying, it sounds like you're getting shot at with a air pistol while sat inside a tin shed!

 

The aircraft sound effects are super annoying, the float plane fighter once launched then spends the next 30-60 seconds droning around and around your 'head' like the worlds most annoying mosquito and you can't even have your flak gunners shoot it down!

 

Did anybody even ASK for improved sound effects? I know I sure didn't... I asked them to fix CV's so they are balanced properly, nothing about sound effects!?

I like them.....nicer aircraft engine sounds then before ( could still be a lot better ofc ) but above all the bouncing shells are really enjoyable, make you feel armour actually does something and you are not a pool of hitpoints that just get reduced upon being hit.

But they didn't add an option to remove them ! Mayby they want to sell old version in premium shop for $$$ ?

he's not moaning about "free" sound effects. He's moaning about priorities.

They are extremely annoying and invasive, like somebody continually slapping my pc with a rock every time a my ship gets hit. And when Friesland pours a torrent of fire, it's like driving through a hailstorm amplified x100.

Mostly they are okay, especially on the CVs. You can hear planes taking off with rubbery tires, the engines now sound somewhat like engines and not lawnmowers, returning squads have different, distant sounds, etc. What I dont like is when you are under fire from a secondary BB (or even multiple ones) and the constant plinging sounds more like somebody playing the xylophone.

Dont much like them, very unrealistic

You can instantly hear your shells hitting a ship at 15km (sound travelling at light speed )

The ricochet sounds are straight out of a spaghetti western. Planes sound like tiny model planes or drones. Some sounds are ok, but most are horrendous. Hate them.

Even the engine sounds? I like the engine sound on Shikishima (and probably most bbs)

 

I can't vote, the options are not clear enough. I like them mostly, but some not. So mixed feeling sounds more like 50-50

What I don't like:

- The sound of explosions I made on a distant ship.

- The ricochet sound, it feels like somebody was shooting at beer cans with a handgun, not like a ship being struck by shells of a 15 inch gun.

These two break my immersion, and make the game have a low quality feel, that I wouldn't dare to show to other people.

 

Also planes sound like recorded during a contemporary air show.  Not like WW2 bombers or fighters.

The vote was designed to give you a few options, to make the results easy to understand. If I tried to figure out 10 different opinions people might have then it would look like a big mess. You can write any details in your post.

Talking of sounds I sailed past a Shikishima and he nearly blew my laptop off the desk LOL.

Generally I like the sounds, the ricochet is cool, the odd creak of the ship and swooshing of the water. Yes I like them..

You shoot the Friesland until it's dead. Fairly simple and straight forward.

 

As for the thread-title: I don't like hearing the impacts of my shells on enemy ships. It confuses me to hear the effects of my shells from far away. If in CQC, sure, but hitting something 20km away shouldn't sound as if it were right next to me.

Otherwise, I love the new sounds.

plus:

1. Tick. tick - with every change of speed

2.  noice of turning main guns - this is what for ?

3. shh, shh - added to every message, this is driving me crazy

4. techno sound added to ship horn

5. not present dubbing of voice messages

 

and probably much more crap like those, together with old sound when entering in/out binocular view. There is only one option. Waste time and get rid of this "improvements" by modding. It should be in game list of all sounds with possibility to disable every of them. At least in some .xml file.
