Warplanes should not look like this

Maybe a rediculous small detail in the game in eyes of many players, and TBD Devastators certainly looked that way at some point in history.....but come on, in the game they look like part of a flying circus rather then serious warplanes in a war.

 

They did serve in WWII and looked far more serious then. For a very long time i wanted to adress that. If not WG wants to revisit their "flying circus" paint skin, could modstation not provide it ?

 

Anyone sharing this opinion ?

 

 

 

 

 

These colours irritate me....it must have been peacetime painting. Why did WG choose this while we clearly enact large sea battles/ thus are at war ?

 

That is what warplanes look like. Sea blue or grey agaisnt the sea and sky background. You dont want enemies to see you from the moon......( even though spotting is not paint dependend in this game )

I think they are the same in warthunder as well. In terms of colour scheme.

They have their pre-WWI color scheme were detection was more important in case they had to do a emergency landing on sea.

Besides isnt it only on the Ranger as the upgrade option replacing the Martin T4Ms?

If only WoWS would be even remotely simulating naval warfare, yes... now it is more like a circus arena featuring some 'show' done with smoke and rocks.

 

War time paint schemes would be wholly appropriate if we were to battle on the Ocean Map!

 

And BTW, ships shouldn't look like they do either....

It's not as if the Avenger's performance was stellar in the beginning either.

 

Between inexperienced crews, lack of fighter cover and what may be the least reliable aerial torpedo of the war, it took a bit of time before the USN and USMC torpedo bomber squadrons hit their stride.

I can see the OPs point the US did repaint their carrier aircraft into more suitable colours for wartime in 1940, although personally I don't find it too distracting.

 

Also considering some of the camouflage available for the ships themselves it's not too bad, after all some are pretty wacky and remind me of this scene:
