Compared to Texas:

 

Same topspeed.

Same reload.

Same turret speed.

About the same range. (New York has even more)

California has two more guns and 9k more HP.

With Massa style secondary accuracy she would be half justified for Narai. For randoms? With 20kts top speed? I doubt improved secondaries would help.

But I am not so hyped about Cali unfortunately. I have Arizona which I like but rarely play.  

 

So is there anyway special about her? Or just a T7 New Mex?

She’s not bad from what I saw. 

 

A BB players wet dream. 

She’s so fast, it takes 20mins to get into battle, so don’t even bother pressing W (which most B.B. players don’t even do). 

 

Her incredible speed owed allows her to outmaneuver Ostergotland torps like a boss (a boss so fat he has to move on all 4 extremities ). 

 

Her guns have a smaller caliber, which is perfectly fine, as most B.B. players like to fling HE at max range anyway. 

 

She is so thicc, that should a DD try to rush her, her gravitional pull will pull the DD out of his course and tear it apart like a black hole would. 

 

As a DD player, you can use the gravitational pull of a teammate playing her to slingshot torps around her and hit target on the opposite side (requires practice). 

Just don‘t get too close, you might end up orbiting her for the entire game. 

 

A BB created for the average BB player, thank you WG!

I had several issues with the LWM review. She compared California to Arizona. She should have compared it to Colorado, the tech tree alternative. Also, she presented the shell scattering for Arizona (1.8 sigma) and California (1.9 sigma) claiming that there was virtually no difference. I could clearly see the difference. I have the impression that LWM have some basic understanding of statistics, but don't have a practical sense for it. She's right that higher sigma show the benefits over time, but not over several matches, but already in a single match you will have more hits and more citadels. Also, the AA is god tier, even above NC which is the best. My only issue is that I don't really like tier7. When you are matched vs tier5, it feels like seal clubbing, and the tier 9 matches are not fun either. I like tier 7 on the tier7 maps, but I'd rather spend doubloons on a tier 8 ship than on a tier 7.

I'd argue that's the Champagne tbh. Because she has the mobility to run away if a enemy gets too close for comfort while Cali certainly does not.

As a DD player you can face 12 shells form a 19 pointer Halsey with the expert loader skill.

Will receive her as the KOTS reward since the only other remaining alternative, the Poltava, is just not this bad.

Poltava trades one turret for a considerably higher straight line speed, and a faster reload.

 

A worthwhile trade I'd say..

 

EDIT: Almost forgot, also has 700 extra AP alpha, per barrel.

Wouldn't even go that far personally seeing as she lacks the one thing Colorado has going for it, namely the 406mm guns.
