Atlanta was a great AA ship, but the rework has somewhat crippled that to being fair to middling. The IFHE rework then hammered the effectiveness of the 127mm guns. She is a pale shadow of what she was. The Flint is a better (more consistent) AA ship, but not by much. She will be available for coal later in the year. For CVs, the Ark Royal is pretty good, even if the planes are slow. The Kreigsmarine CVs are arriving, there might be something good there. You will be hard pressed to find a ship without downside, may it be gun size, reload, concealment etc. Regarding cruisers the tier 8 IJN Atago is still a decent choice because of low visibility, good torpedoes, hard hitting guns (slow reload though) and heals. Regarding battleships and despite all the bad reputation I still consider the tier 8 KM Tirpitz a real workhorse that can either fit a survival or secondary build. One of the few downsides is the 8x 38cm guns, so you can not overmatch T9 cruiser bows. However it still is one of the best destroyers currently in game. ;) If you look at T7 I can only recommend the KM Scharnhorst (very small main gun calibre though) as I generally dislike this tier for cruisers without appropriate survival mechanics (smoke, heal etc). Tirpitz is also a good choice for secondary build. Vanguard is a good ship, but a bit squishy, but once you learn how to play her, she will do well, and is a good fire starter. Friggin OP T7 cruiser that when uptiered cannot pen BBs, has pathetic range, can't hit dodging DDs at anything but close range and gets overmatched by 203 mm guns. Also has just enough armour to die to shells. Certainly OPness incarnate at T7 where it competed with Fiji, Helena and Myoko, just to name some of the better tech tree alternatives. 5 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

She NEVER was Overpowered. Before the CV rework the most deadly AA was the dual purpose guns of DDs and Cruisers. This effectiveness vanished for all dual purpose guns of all ships, but mostly affected USN vessels. Also the IFHE changes to 127mm affect just about every USN destroyer, every USN secondary gun on every cruiser and battleship.
