Perhaps after each init of the software, they can check the game files installed, the memory profile in your computer and the starter program sends a report to the WG after we log in.

They could .. but they don't ;)

Cheers!

edit: the client makes a checkup on the mod files given a manifesto .. if files not outdated they get loaded by the client .. no report to wg .. at all ...!

I reported a guy for using a bot but nothing has happend and he still "plays", on average 140 games/day (with 10 minutes/game that comes to 23 hours and 20 minutes/day, ON AVERAGE).

That is double impressive:
1. Being economically sustainable. Must be low tier matcher where yolo-die-yolo-die rinse repeat nets some silver.

2. Actually getting battles so reliably without the game crashing. Must be a self recovering bot.

So is there any way to get mods on the Windows Store version of WoWs?

Why can't they be installed normally?

Thanks but no thanks, last time I tried this installation it screwed up the game so bad the entire game had to be re installed, I run clean vanilla now, unlike WoT's where their mod hub you can pick and choose what modpacks you like.

ModStation doesn't pick up the WinStore version of WoWs, so I have no way to use mods.

Pick up how? Doesn't it ask you to select the game directory or something?

The game directory doesn't show up on there.

mod policy is what we are going to do you without actually defining why

Like being arrested for a crime, then the crime being invented to justify the arrest and consequences.

WG F'up 999999 of 2020.

Mods... what is acceptable, What is not?  WG... define this ffs.... Don't refer to ToS.... define it here and in a News posting.

You post a New item like this and with so little detail and depth. You need to do more.

So just to make sure I am acting according to WG's TOS, everything in Aslain's Mod pack is legal?

Especially asking for things like the navigator mod that shows you the angle of the ship you're aiming at.

I can define it to You. For now, every working free mod is ok, every paid cheat is forbidden. It's simple like that.

Modders are people which are playing this game and are doing mods as a hobby. They want they work to be published and used not only by them, but others people too, without any problems. Satisfaction is their payment. Before publishing mod they need WG approval. Then such mod can be included in other people modpacks like: official Modstation, Aslain, Hakabase, Juger65 etc. Most mods which are not included there, are probalby not worth using and they dissapear soon. People do not want actualize something, sinking hours of work into them, when a few is using such thing.

Cheat makers are doing it stictly for money and they don't care about any approval or You can be possible banned for using it. At least as long as cheat is still selling.

I am not sure whether to differentiate between "legal mods" and "cheats" in regard to the incentive to make money off of it (for there's the possibility to do either of them for free or for money).
But nevertheless, I think your answer helped me as to make clear that everything published by Aslain's mod pack falls under the legal mod category.

But I am sure about that, knowing almost every mod and cheat for WoWs (at least from seeing videos how they are working). Mods are doing people like me or You, cheats are doing companies, which did plenty of them for many games.

Sure - some mods (or parts of mods) done by people before was recognized by WG as not wanted, so WG made a policy about asking about permission before publishing and not changing game scripts file. And modders work closely with WG, so if they are telling - we do not want something to be done, modders are stopping doing that or they remove such options from their mods.

ex.

- Eye of Sauron (which made possible to go into spotter plane camera view at will)  - WG changed their scripts, so this mod stopped working long ago. After that I've made opposite mod, which can change camera from spotter plane wiew to normal one and it was accepted.

- Lastomer - WG asked mod maker to remove displayed in game WR/PR about allied ships, restricting it only to enemy ships.

I hope this include bots for farming.

Another account with a similar name has played 40k games in two years. I suspect this guy grinds accounts with bots so he can sell them "full build" to the highest bidder.

I've see many accounts like this. Search for the username RenamedUser. You'll find a bunch of accounts with the username RenamedUser_    the underscore is followed by a bunch of what appear to be random numbers. Though I suspect some of the numbers might have a weighted value signaling the value of the account e.g. number of T10 or special ships

What, it just disappeared? That's not what folders tend to do. I suspect the problem lies elsewhere. Try maybe installing the mods somewhere else and then copy them into the game folder

Unwanted, game ruining, capitalism and yet more transparent than selling gambling boxes.

I saw one of those accounts playing a game one night and asked them do they sell the accounts because I saw that he had commented, normally they don't comment or reply. They replied with some comment like they didn't understand what I was saying and then ignored any further comments I made

That kind of nick is used by WG when they remove a nick that breaks the rules. I once reported a guy with a nazi-related name and he was renamed "RenamedUser_xxxxxxx"

Is the Aslain modpack still allowed or has this changed?

@MrConway

Like the article says, mods that can be found on the official forum are generally classed as allowed and safe to use, this includes Aslain's excellent modpack!

WG do not know if you are using a mod ... This is just normal gaming policy .. It would be nice with a comment from WG regarding aslain though .. But I will continue to use aslain and new aslain download just completed for install ...

Cheers!

We have ways of detecting the use of illegal modifications. You are free to keep using Aslain's modpack.

Huh? You are totaly wrong, I'm working closely with WG when it comes to mods. Everything posted on WG WoWs forums is allowed and pre-moderated, so is my modpack.. Please stop giving advices without proper knowledge about that matter.

Exactly! :)

I wonder if this post/warning has come around due to a number of new hacks appearing in the game.  As some one who recently has played a lot of DD I've noticed a rapid increase in the number of players who seem to sail straight, yet turn just after I launch torps at them, every time.  Now this is probably a game binaries hack, not an add on mod and so should be picked up (one hopes by WGC).

On mods themselves, I played WoWS vanilla for a long time, but now use Modstation for mods post watching the time to win mod on certain YouTube content provider games.  Some how I've ended up with about a dozen mods (all through modstation) and find it annoying when they are not updated (mod creators have real lives and real life priorities as well), but also know I can play without them due to the number of times I've forgotten to upgrade them post a patch (plus half the ones I use are harbour based info mods).

So when you don't understand something you immediately assume hax? Like, server hax because this data isn't known to the client?

  1. Your torpedo hit ratio is > 0, you clearly get torpedo hits on targets.
  2. Some people use the Priority Target captain skill. When you switch between guns and torps they know you looked at them.
  3. Some people turn / slow down from time to time in order to avoid torps. When they know which DD is hunting them they do those maneuvers in time with that DD's specific torpedo reload time.

Torpedoes are the easiest to avoid weapon in this game. Stay in torpedo view all the time or just don't lock on the target with guns, time your launch for when the target's course stabilizes e.g. right after a turn, pick easy targets that are angling against something so they can't turn or an island blocks them.
