Is the anemic presence of battleships in the submarine game mode indicative of the viability even future of the whole class? :fish_book:

From what I've seen of the mode they'll be (mostly) fine.

I haven't seen many in the few times I've played. They even less than usual and at times none. I know it is early but I have the feeling the average BB community distrusts the subs and what they bring, kinda of a mini-DD class in a way, only under water.

Id wait for higher tier subs and how they perform in a full random battle. I wouldnt be surprised if less peeps played bb’s.

ill still play miss georgia, maybe we will get more flexible highly mobile bbs like her.

From what I have seen thus far as long as BBs camp further back and play passive they appear to be ok.

still there certainly isn't any incentive for people to want to play BB in the subs mode so it's hard to say for sure.

Saw a sub take apart a nearly full health player controlled New Mexico in seemingly 30 seconds.

So subs can be devastating to BBs. But as a class, to early to tell. Possibly the end of the slower 20 knot BBs.

I fear the higher tier subs will come with surprising speeds enabled despite what we were being told. It is not the subs so much as it is against an already overly cautious class of ships (to the point of inactivity) getting another potential counter imo.

DD can sink a BB in one salvo. That is nothing new.

yes but wasd helps against DDs, subs have homing torps ... wasd does not work much there ...

WASD and angling helps against the lock-on...

Especially as the torps don't home in the final km or so..

Only BB I have seen being Sunk by a Submarine so far was some guy in New Mexico which Yoloed straight through the Middle....

To begin with its next to Impossible to make any Judgement on Subs currently. Everyone in the Test Mode seems to basicly just Yolo forward and barely anyone has any actual intention to Play seriously.

If you're already maneuvering at that point then you should be easily able to dodge them at that point :P

Too much wasd helps with taking hits straight into citadels. Dodge torpedoes from DD's, airplanes, subs, wiggle to dodge long range HE spam and control your angle to mitigate BB salvoes. Sounds perfectly doable.

When you are in the crossfire of 5+ ships, you are in the wrong position...

BB's camping in the back - bad, BB's moving forward - bad.

I believe it is too early to give a definitive answer, as I have not seen that many BBs in the new game mode.

However, I think WG faces a serious challenge in providing a reasonable reply to my (and other peoples) request for information on counterplay options for CAs, BBs and CVs when facing submarines.

Personally, I think that submarines are much too strong - a very fast ship class with fast reloading, (relatively) long range, high damage homing torpedos and the sub can more or less remain "invisible" by staying at 5,9 meters - only to dive a few meters if targeted by guns or planes.

I find that troubling considering these submarines are "only" tier 6 - how will higher tier subs work out?

Don't need subs for you to be *edited* in that situation. :Smile-_tongue:

There are enough BB players who know how to pressure the enemy without getting into a crossfire.
