This lottery for submarines is a ridiculous idea - I've been waiting since I played on the PTS, and logged on today, excited to play subs... and what do I get - coal. Was I on the naughty list Santa, cos this sure seems like it. Do you realise just how many players you've alienated with this move??

Hi Captain, 
I understand how you feel, to be honest I am excited to play Submarines as well, but still I can’t because I didn’t obtain them yet. We decided to use this system so players could focus on playing with other classes too, creating in this way more interesting battles. For every day you’ll wait, you will obtain 500 of Coal: which as a gift from Santa, I agree, totally suck, but in WoWs it is a pretty cool resource 😊.

If everybody are given subs on the first day the everybody will play subs on the first day and no "test" of ASW and such can be done. This way is fine and we get some coal on the way.

The initial writeup said that HE damaged subs by shrapnel - that was only minor, what kills subs (depth charges, bombs and H.E. near misses), is concussion damaging the hull. I guess W.G.'s staff never watched any classic U-boat movies (Das Boot, Run Silent Run Deep, etc.) :cap_hmm:

Okay so quick question. I participated on the PTS a while ago and there was this mission that rewarded you with the submarine batch. I achieved it there but I still haven't gotten it on my main account, while a friend of mine already has it. Why is this? I also wanted to ask, since there are only 7 random packages in the submarine daily tokens event, is it possible that you will not get any subs during this event?

I think they are sponsored by Bwin, Williamhill and 888sport. If you end in a deintoxication clinic for ludopaths, they give you as a gift the Warspite.

Most likely you are not using the same email address for this account and for PT account. That is why you probably never received a reward on main account, as those emails needs to be the same.

If you want to have it changed, please contact Player Support.

 

You will get your hands on the submarines for sure, as every day you will get new token, that you can exchange in the Armory. You will get 7 tokens, so you will definitely get those submarines, latest in a week, if you are unlucky.

Because as I guess is the norm, we cannot use submarines in the Training to get familiar with the mechanics and controls ? I know WG does not actually care about us testing the subs because they throw hurdles at us at every possibility.

Do you think that when you announce an event like this, you want us to test but then don't provide the proper tools to do so, it will work well ?

 

Everybody jumping into subs is not a problem because there should be restrictions on the max number of them, people will realize and adapt. However they WANT to see them and have them available even to just check them out in training room. Oh and this "reasoning" is nowhere to be found in the article !!! Also there is no mention that you can only obtain submarines via the bundles.

In worst case scenario, you will have the opportunity to play sumbarines for like 3 weeks, seems enough? I for instance may do that tomorrow, but planning not to touch them. Sumbarines in WOWS is a bad idea.

Why should we even bother, if you're not going to listen?

I gave feedback, lengthy paragraphs of feedback about why your balance on Graf Zep was wrong, about how to balance her, back in that Facebook group you had for it. You completely ignored the feedback (which was very similar to the feedback of plenty others) and released her "your way", which people kept moaning on and on for a long while about the exact things we reported.

 

I gave you feedback in two out of three of the submarine PTS via those surveys you tell us to fill, yet again, in the next PTS or the Live Test now, I see all my feedback is in the bottom of the ocean, completely ignored yet again, and it's the very same things people keep moaning about. About the invincibility and overpower of subs if no counter ship is alive (or you didn't have luck to get in your team), about the O2 feature being a good feature. Why should I bother wasting my time writing feedback if you've shown over and over and over you don't care about it?

 

Have a laughable screenshot on how the games on the Live Test are being. This is how every game ends up being, a retarded circle fight between submarines because no ship is left to counter them, or a chase while the only counter ship is targetted by everything else.

 

This is what YOU chose to have, not what we gave you as feedback.

 

If you want us to give feedback, show us the feedback is going somewhere. Show good will.

Here's my good will, a piece of feedback: Torpedoing submarines from a ship (My case was Devonshire) shows a "hit possible" marker instead of the "Impossible to hit", but in the end the torpedoes miss altogether, solve that.

They are basically "event" ships, like those Crocosaurs and others in special events. You were also unable to play them in training room.

There is mention about that. Quote from the article:

" To stand at the helm of a submarine yourself, you need to collect and use Submarine Tokens. These Tokens will be credited upon your first login each day during the run of Submarine Battles. You can exchange Submarine Tokens for random bundles in the Armory. One of the seven available random bundles will drop three 21-day rental submarines, each with a special 19-skill-point Commander. The remaining bundles will drop 500 Coal each. "

I am sorry for your disapointment, but I want to assure you, that we listen and carefully are reading all the feedback given. We are really thankful for all suggestion you, or another players gave us. If you remember, based on player's suggestions we made changes on PT from first round of PT to second round. Not everything is possible to implement right away and some things maybe sounds nice, but are almost impossible to implement. We decided to push Submarines from PT to even more mass testing on live servers, but still it is WIP and there still can be changes. We are awared about your concerns, especially the ones regarding ASW. This all can be changed and reworked. I personally would like to see any option for BBs to actively defend themselves.

Of course we are chosing from the feedback what is possible to work on. We simply can't make changes as every one of you wishes. But it is still possible, that your suggestion will be implemented into the game, sooner or later.

OK, simple question, and I mean veeeeery simple:

 

Does WG have plans to implement ASW on ALL ships or the subs will be killable by only the minority - DDs and light cruisers?

 

Because the latter outright kills the game, if you cant see it, you deserve anything that happens afterwards.

 

Even the CVs can be killed by anybody in the vicinity.

 

And another specific thing - why is the penalty on depleting battery so small? Ok, you won't be able to fire torpedoes (as you will not have pings) but in all reality depletion of battery should make the sub dead in the water with just the option to surface.

I am thankful for your answer, I want to insist that the feedback I offered used to be the same as the majority of the people I read or talked to, that's why it was weird not to see such changes made.

 

On another note, but related to this. Now that you're adding different branches to cruisers, I sincerely hope you will add a light cruiser branch to the Japanese Navy, seeing how the USN and the IJN used Submarine warfare against the other and developed ASW ships, it is still strange to me to see Yuubari or Yahagi, but no proper CL branch and I do hope it's added in the future. Isuzu was known for havingan interesting and plentiful ASW repertoire.

played once in Ryu (kinda cheat mode for me) sunk a sub wit an AP boom smack da middle. Probably was out of battery or smth as I had me eye on him sneaking around for quite a while, but overall pretty dangerous little ships that can wreck havoc when the skill rises. I think the big visible ships are even more of a disadvantage rn. Cruisers need to be able to give helping hand to deal with the threats. I don't think available dd captains can handle the load (wit the usual notable exceptions.) Only one game ofc, game is getting even more difficult for casuals it seems. That is my overall opinion.

I'm actually looking forward to see Oyodo added, as it was specifically designed to command submarine operations.
