I'm a whale, I have a LOT of premium ships and since we've all been in lockdown for a couple of months no weekends away with friends or trips to the pub; so feeling flush with cash decided to buy the soviet squadron pack with the Mikoyan and her two big sisters and get a head start on unlocking Tallinn and Riga.

The patriotic camo may not be to everyone's tastes but the Mikoyan still looks like a ship (OK, I kind of like it on her)... the Ochakov and P-Bag however look like they were designed by Gold-member!

Why would you cover a warship in all that tacky gold junk, it makes them look like a Transformer, The tech tree ships seem to get a more reasonable quantity of gold bling but what I ask was wrong with just a paint job... why the need for the extra ugly junk?

I get the fact it's definitely a #FirstWorldIssue and I can (and have) switched them to the standard camo they also come with, but why leave one ship looking standard and do that to the poor Ochakov, she already explodes if you look at her funny, has bad firepower and her one party piece already raises ire in the community as stealth radar is BAD (P-Bag is great!).

Completely agree. The Riga looked great in the camo when it was unveiled a few months ago. These ships look like toys.

the good thing is, now you have all three premiums, you are more or less guaranteed to have enough tokens to get the Riga and it’s camo with the Petro camo in sight if you get lucky.

I've found a lot of camos to be kitschy, e.g. the Richelieu, the Kleber, the October Revolution, the Cleveland, etc. So for me it's just one in a long list.

He's the Cap
The Cap with the Midas touch
A Gamer's touch
Such a cold (crew)member
Beckons you to enter his ship of sin
But don't go in

[Chorus]
Golden shells he will put in the air

Golden torps he will shoot - but beware!

For an enemy captain knows when he sinks her
It's with shells of gold from Captain Goldmember

[Verse 2]
Pretty girl, beware of his ship of gold
This ship is sold

[Chorus]

Golden shells he will put in the air

Golden torps he will shoot - but beware!

For an enemy captain knows when he sinks her
It's with shells of gold from Captain Goldmember

He loves only gold

Only gold

And some coal

He loves oil as well

And also steel

(To get premium ships)

He loves gold

I got me the Cleveland Candy Cane Camo a few years back, and it's sort of given me an immunity. Nothing can really top it for sheer lack of taste.

The camo that made a lot of players finally considering mods for their client. :Smile_teethhappy:

I've not seen that Cleveland camo before, and I'm thankful... it's making my eyes start to bleed just looking at it!

Haha, yes. It burns the retina...

I wonder if it has a real effect on the players aiming at it...

kind of makes you wonder why there isn't a check box in the hide camo section for: Show only Historic camo styles... and make everything else no matter what they are look like a Type 1,2,6,10 camo?

I've always hypothesized that the dispersion effect of the Candy Cane Camo is due to the fact that the gun crews on the enemy ships can't bring themselves to look directly at it. Whether it has the same effect on the actual players is of course open to debate. The LSD Atago camo above is indeed very LSD:ish, but - as such - 'hippy' and somewhat restful, in my opinion. :Smile_Default:

I also happen to recall someone describing the navy blue camouflage on the Missouri - rendered below - as "the only camouflage in WoWs which actually works the way it's supposed to". That is, it actually makes it harder to aim at the ship since it's harder to see where the ship ends and the sea begins...

Frosty fir tree camo comes pretty damned close to being the ugliest camo out there, obviously designed by some kid on lsd.

Well I don't think anyone who has been to the Catherine Palace in St Petersburg would accuse the Russians of being understated, especially when it comes to the gold ornamentation. Prehaps the palace was the inspiration here.
