I'm afraid to say that said guy is - As It Is Written - pulling your plonker...

No he didn't (whatever he showed you wasn't proof) - I have almost every premium in the game, and not once has any of them provided me with even a win streak into double figures...

That's not to say there aren't any borderline OP things in the game - all of the ones I can think of largely removed from sale - but even then, none of them guarantees any meaningful win-streak.

Edit: empirical evidence to the contrary:

If buying Yamato's T9 sister *guaranteed* wins, then my WR in this thing wouldn't be 50%...

Edit 2: obviously I'm not talking about Coop mode, as you actually have to make an effort to lose that most of the time...

I'd say the ship depends on the player, but there are people out there that believes otherwise.

finally made it to rank 3 but no win there so far,  one guy in my clan told me that i should buy a tier 9 ship like yamatos sistership then  WG gurantees a steady win streak of 35 in a row hmm buy to win i say

I'm with Verblonde on this and don't think premiums give guaranteed win streaks.

My opinion is quite simple, pure luck with the matchmaker and how good you are with your chosen ship.

My journey to rank 1 was via silver ships only, some worked some didn't.

Buying a T9 premium won't guarnteee victory. However if you get one that fits your style and you enjoy playing it will impact your own preformance which as others stated will swing the edge cases. So check youtube or hop on the test server and try it out.

im sorry its not luck, it depends og how you play,, wg told me this, if you have a good run with a series of wins, you get a good team, if you play like shite like i do, you dont,, you get crappy teams and therefore the game is harder.

for me its even harder caouse i use only one ship, and have only half the flags  i know if i bought flags or doobloons or a fully upgraded ship with fully upgraded captain like you know a pay to win game ill have better chances of success.

still looking forward to my first win in RANK 3.

I think its not helpful to think that everything is stacked against you. Instead have a look at the feedback from Verblonde. I think its great!

Not all of it, but assuming Ranked works vaguely similarly to randoms:

  • The bulk of games will be won/lost more or less regardless of what you do.
  • The games that matter are the 'edge' cases, where how good a player is will nudge the result one way or the other (over a large enough data-set).

As a result of these edge cases, better players will have higher overall WR, and the less good will see the reverse. For those of us who aren't unicums, the aim should be to - at least - not be a drag on the team, so as to allow any better players on your side more of a chance to do their thing.

If you'll permit me to infer a few things from your current stats that might be helpful for the future:

image.thumb.png.599cfd57721426179b232353f7e3630d.png

The above distribution pattern (for randoms) is an enormous flashing warning sign: you've effectively skipped all the 'learning' tiers and more or less gone straight to 8+ (as indicated by the average tier - 8.2). There are a number of down-sides to this, but they mostly relate to not having a chance to acquire the necessary skill-set to hold your own in higher tiers i.e. you're increasing the chances of your personal edge cases being defeats.

image.thumb.png.c98ff63764466d8383b2154f575191fa.png

The above information provides more flashing warning signs. As well as jumping straight to high tiers, you're (essentially) only playing one ship type - BBs - and from only one nation - KM. This is also unwise, if you want to maximise your chances of nudging over the line to a win (although I get the appeal of the KM - have a butchers at my own port; the only one I'm missing - I think - is Currywurst).

Rather than just point out where you may be going wrong, please permit a few suggestions:

  • Drop back a few tiers (probably to the 5-7 range, if you don't want to be mauled by the T4 CVs) for a while, and take the time to polish your skills, especially via-a-vis situational awareness and the vision mechanics (these areas IMO are what tend to win/lose more games than almost anything else).
  • Diversify the nations and ship types that you play; if you get a decent number of games under your belt in things that aren't German battleships you'll become a far better player, mainly because you'll have a better understanding of what things other than your preferred ship type can/can't do, and what their aims are vis-a-vis defeating you.
  • Try and division (preferably using voice comms) with other players who can offer you helpful feedback - they may well help you find stuff out that you might have been missing previously.
  • Try and get involved with Clan Wars; it can be easier to learn high tiers there as (in theory) everyone on your team is vaguely coordinated, there are fewer enemy ships to keep track of, and (often) you have a unified strategy.

Of course, most of this won't help you right now (except for the divisioning part); but it gives a few pointers for how to get better for the next round of Ranked and hopefully you'll have a less frustrating experience next time.

Ranked or ranked sprint are always frustrating, you get to a point and bang 1 step forward 2 steps back, when this happens I remove myself from ranked and play either coop or random to put me in a better frame of mind before returning to ranked.

I did have a quick look at your stats to see if I could help but see you play BBs at that tier and I'm absolute turd at BBs so best of luck and I hope you rank out

Nope.

  • Flags will - technically (if they're performance ones, and not economic) - increase your chances slightly, but only slightly. Bear in mind though this is like a 120 kg fat bloke claiming the reason he can't cycle fast enough is because he only has Deore cranks, as opposed to XT, say.
  • You don't have to pay to get fully upgraded ships, unless you're impatient - you just have to play,
  • Ditto, fully upgraded captain; the vast majority that you pay money for are ten pointers - if you want higher pointers without playing, I'm afraid you can't generally pay for them - you have to earn them by playing.

Basically, WOWS is not P2W, but rather 'pay to progress faster'; in fact, you could make a solid case that paying money can easily make you a worse player - look at the number of idiots you see in high tier premiums that they have no idea how to play.

If your overall win rate is pants, it's all on you, I'm afraid. You can either accept that and do something about it (or try to, in my case), or keep being in denial and carry on as you are. Your choice.

I am at rank 3. Playing Alaska and having lots of fun. It is great being able to play more than 1 tier. I have better result with Kremlin, but playing Alaska is more fun for me right now, so I play Alaska :Smile_Default:

I would not wont to rank out as fast as possible. I would rather choose more difficult ship.

2 times I have managed to save star playing Alaska. The team was that bad :Smile_facepalm:

22 games to rank 1, of which 16 wins. Half in Montana (7/11 wins, 2 defeats saving the star), 8 in Hindenburg (6 wins), 2 in Moskva and 1 in D.Donskoi.

This time around Ranked Sprint didn't feel that grindy, but, with 12vs12, it didn't feel that different from random games either.

I don't think that Arms Race is suitable for large teams, due to the heal buffs. In one of the games in my Hindenburg I was focused and down to 3k health within the first 3 minutes. Playing carefully I managed to survive and at the end I was back to 75%health with one heal remaining.

78 games for me. Most of them in Shimakaze and Yamato, slightly above 50% winrate in total. Finally I found it to be entertaining.

My equivalent to this was getting a Dreadnought in my Gearing...!

Standard of play was trash. Not sure how the MM works in sprint, but the whole way through it felt like trash tier normal ranked. Usually in normal ranked you can see the difference in skill as you move though the MM pools, with rank 5+ giving some actual decent games. Seeing rank 3 sprint battles where half your team has no camo, kind of sums it up.

28 Battles 64% WR, almost all BB.
