Balance across warship ages and cvs

Hello, I've just finished a battle playing a 1907 tier III Russian BB with zero AA guns and finding myself pitted against two enemy CVs with very aggressive and capable torpedo aircraft who saw me as an ideal target practically the whole game until they got me.  Whoever heard of CVs in 1907? What sort of balancing/matching is this?   What a load of b@ll#c$s!

Ships where usually not built and scrapped during the same year.

Langley was comissioned 22´, good chance that a ship from 1907 would have met her.

Kongo was completed in 13´ and was active until 44´.

 

The Schleswig-Holstein was commissioned in 1908 and active until 44´.

and in all these years the S-H was never upgraded with any AA-guns?

The AA refit was in 39. Langley is from 22...

That is not OP´s issue - his problem is that he gets attacked by planes in a ship which has zero guns to defend himself.

Would you enter a fps-shooter as a civilian, everyone carries weapons and shoots at you and you can not shoot back?

He asked how a ship from 07 with no AA can face a CV.

Knyaz outperforms 2 of 3 CV (Tier IV ships) in damage, while getting outperformed in damage by ALL Tier IV BB.

She outperform all 3 CV in kills.

She outperforms all 3 CV in winrating.

Despite Knyaz Suvurov being a ridiculously overpowered low tier BB it would be unfortunate for it to have a weakness against CVs. But frankly, the reality is that everything at this tier is weak against CVs and even with fictionally enhanced AA suites on the ships that did not receive such refits in the real world. Somehow, Knyaz Suvurov comes out better than most even in terms of AA despite not having a single gun on its stock hull.

 

The B hull adds 8x 75mm Canets for a total 45.5 AA dps with 3km range, for what that is worth when a single aircraft at tier 4 has 1,100 - 1,600 hp.

 

Relatively, KS has quite a generous AA suite for a tier 3 BB.

 

If you feel it is necessary you can stick with other players to share what little AA exists at this tier.

Thanks for your research and comments, everyone.  Actually as has been pointed out, I did have some AA capability, for what it was worth, 8 individual 75mm naval guns on a stick! Can't say they were much use against fast aircraft.
