12 vs. 12 Arms Race Ranked Sprint Feels like an Arcade Game

This mode provides bad gameplay. Basically it is a 1 cap epicenter after a couple of minutes with no goals for most ships in mid and early game. There are no incentives to teach teams to get into the right positions. Most teams lemming to 1 side, because of missing goals on different flanks. This mode is bad by design. We dont even have to talk about the stupidity the buffs provide.

What we learn from this:

Never bring Armsrace into 12vs12 random battles.

Both arms race and the 12 vs 12 is very bad for the ranked format. The original ranked sprint is a phenomenal idea and it should be done more often and on lower tiers with 7vs 7 domination format. WG in their eternal wisdom is doing their best to ruin Ranked Sprint just like the Clan Battles.

I give up on this :etc_swear:.

I swear some of these ranked players are actively trying to break the sub 20% WR mark.

They're so bad they make Random battles regular 40% WR potatoes look good.

Lemmingtrains lemmingtrains lemmingtrains lemmingtrains. Game over by minute 5.

Then getting flamed for not following the J10 failtrain when they all die horribly to inferior numbers, because I live kiting 1v3 (+ enemy CV) on the other flank.

Top of the team 5 games out of 6.

At least I can't lose anymore stars, being stuck on R8 :Smile_trollface:

Number of skilled players in ranked is way higher right now, then in randoms. Even if you are good player, no guarantie you win

I blame the spawn. They go 'we spawn together so we sail together'. In principle a good idea that you don't spawn alone at a flank, everybody has a choice where to go at the beginning but most players have no idea what to do and just follow the other sheep.

And the fact that this is 12v12 makes this game feel like a slot machine. I want my tier 5/6/7 sprint with 6v6 back.

I disagree strongly :D
I think that the same who play random, play also ranked sprint. Maybe it even drags players who usually play coop into ranked, because of the rewards. What makes you think that skills in ranked are higher than in random right now?

lot of good players and veterans don't play random, but they do show up for ranked, clan battles and some events

So this is ranked... I arrive, 3 times to be one victory for rank 1. Then you get 3 ships AFK, people that quit half of the battle. Destroyers not spoting... In 7 vs 7 the push harder sometimes works. Now back to rank 3, 0 stars. When the game wants u to lose. U lose. And thats all.

This was the first time I really had a blast on a competetive mode. I like that format with arms race. Well, I guess I was also lucky not having a losing streak. 😁

It's a ladder grindfest with a lot of headbashing against a wall until you get through, not a "ranked" mode. A proper ranked gameplay would have matchmaking that puts you against opponents of equal skill and success and bad players would be pushed down by the top of the crop. But in WoWS, there is no "top", because the top rank players get kicked out of the season (ranking out), which doesn't make any sense.

Clan Battles are the basically the only true ranked mode in this game, but that requires an entire team of clan mates...

A lot of players just want to charge ahead an shoot something. It's also not optimal in random battles, but the position of the cap centers mitigates this somewhat. Also the player base has much more experience in random, so they have more sense of what is appropriate behavior there. In arms race, the objective changes dynamically and it confuses a lot of players. Personally, I found this mode much easier, as by picking the right positions, you can catch a lot more broadsides than in randoms.

Secondary objectives change a bit (boosters), but the primary objective, which is capturing the central zone when the time expires in the big clock we have in the screen, doesn't. The problem is that people don't even read how to play arms race.Try to explain me what the hell was doing my team over there 15 seconds before the time expired :fish_book:

Since the COVID lockdown and many more people at home both random and ranked have become incredibly frustrating. Many, many players who have no sense of how to read the map. Battles are curbstomps, with one team losing one or two ships and the other getting wiped out, basicaly no matter what you do. If you're not in a ship which can carry a battle on it's own you're screwed.

It's particularly bad with the 12v12 format for ranked, with 6v6 or 7v7 a single ship had more impact.

less players, easier go up, now there is more so its harder, i stuck at tier 3 some time, but before that it was kind off easy

also if people listen the advice in battle,so those also give some victory

Its pretty fine if you speak with your teammates.

Even better if they listen or even respond to you.

but mostly its the BBs behind islands that are cursing me (in a DD) for not spotting them. Dude im in a DD with 3k health left chased by DD with better concealment and guns.

I aint gonna risk my ship so you can take 25km potshots to bow on kremlins and leave the enemy DDs alone.

Not really, in sprints its rather irrelevant as they are short and people rank out 2 quickly

for me most hardest battles was at there that people had no idea how to play this,

image if you full team go to map corners, and enemy go center map,

those who go corners have like 0 change for win because enemy collects all buffers and take victory by A position

Exactly the roflstomp due to border surfing meta is upedto the max in this, sometimes one strong BB that leads 2-3 ships to center early can decide match in 5 min flat

Last night's excursion was fun, caught a Harugamo sailing in a straight line......

Hit my goal, so that's good.

Definitely different to normal Randoms, probably because there are obvious places to go to.

Did run into first CV on red team for ages, I'd forgotten how to beat them.............

Easier to find the Red team, so yes more arcadey than normal, but that is a good thing as my normal experience is 10 minutes of positioning at opposite ends and then 2 minutes of destruction and my team runs away....... or tries to 'win harder' and we lose....
