Never happened to me. You must do something different.

And taking a more indirect route as a DD is a good protection vs early rocket attacks.

you write as if the maps were big. 2 CV sweep the relevant part of the map in the first 2 minutes. Nothing can hide there.

Then why do I do it regularly?

Start to change course as soon planes are spotted near your cap. When you are not going straight for the cap, there is a good chance to evade detection.

regularly, you mean once in every 3 or 4 battles with 2 CV?

"good chance" is that around 25% ?

Hard to say since I rarely encounter two CV.

Could be close to 50%.

ah then of course I understand your statement.

I would like to have preferential matchmaking too.

Play Tier VIII+, you rarely see two CV. And when you are Tier VIII and see two Tier VI CV, it is ok.

I still have many battles to play at tiers 4 - 7.

And for what I have seen so far, I'm not particularly thrilled with most tier 8+ battles, as soon as tier 10 ships are present, it turns into a campfest.

That is true.

You guys must be having severe bad luck. I play CV, and I end up in a double-CV game maybe 1 out of 50.

And when I do, usually it is me in T6 CV ending up in a T8 game with a T8 CV.

Which is crud, but the even more crud is that I'll often do better than the T8... :cap_wander:

But well, that's WG MM for ya, and it is bad for everyone it seems.

BTW I often team up with a DD, and he has no problem surviving to the last... some tips:

- Turn off the AA when not spotted by CV, then he has to come ~2.5km from you to spot;

- Yeah sure he will attack... but he can not do it RIGHT AWAY.

- He must turn to engage rockets. He turns? NOW you turn on the AA, and smoke up (if you can).

- Of course you change direction... and then he has to find you again.

Lately I have met lots of good DD players. They can be a nuisance, and sometimes they even manage to kill my CV.

Or it takes me at least 5 (or more...) attacks to finally get them. Takes me more time to kill them than when I play BB or CL.

And yes CV requires different defence/measures.

I often see DDs whining though when they have their AA on (so It spot them from 5-7km or whatever their AA reaches).

And then they smoke up, but they go too fast (and run out of their smoke) or stuff like that.

And then I torpedo them... because they think they can't be hit by CV-torps, somehow.

Not saying you're one of those. And absolutely, the Reeeework is crud in many many ways.

However, most DD-players just refuse to adapt, same as other-ship-players. And that is not the CVs fault.

One example, BBs/CLs crying "CV spot-kill that DD", yeah right. Like the CV always can or wants to.

I've even caught them they cry the above, when they play BB/CL and next game they play DD and the CV is sky-c@ncer.

I know i not best player but ffs this what is going now in your game is beyond any [edited].

I get the annoyance with CVs, but you are seriously complaining about four DDs when there are five BBs nearly every game? Such hypocrisy.
