WG should differentiate AFK from disconnected

On topic: unfortunately there are a lot of sad puppies playing this game. Some even capable of pulling the plug on their router to appear "disconnected" because they don't like the MM.

Well Mate. Unfortunately these still exist. And Yes. Our Village Counts a Staggering 2500 People. Which means we are really pretty small.

(Not the Smallest here tough. One of the Neighboring Villages has 800 People which I think must Include surrounding Farms because the Village itself is basicly 4 Streets that split out of the Country Road which goes right through the village onto which maybe a hundred houses are sitting. And I somehow doubt each of these hold 8 People...)

 

We got DSL like 5 Years after it came out. And Laugh and Behold. For February this Year. They actually Upgraded the Cables to the City for High Speed Internet. Which means that since January this Year I can actually Download with 15mbs. (Byte not Bit)

After that the Random Disconnects Gladly also Stopped.

Not Denying that. But these People dont care about this System. Even if you made them Pink Instantly. The only thing changing would be that they Yolo. Which is what they currently already do if they go Pink after Disconnecting on Purpose.

The People usually taking Offense to being Pink and which generally feel annoyed by being Pink after Disconnecting. Is the People who got Disconnected against their Will. And I am sure we can agree. That a Penalty System that is easy to avoid and thus Generally Ignored by actual Offenders but tends to Punish people that did not actually commit any Offenses. Is not really working properly.

 

Moreover. Even a Small Change would already help alot. For example. Set the number of DCs before you go Pink to 3. Give a Warning message on 2nd DC that the Player should maybe not keep Playing if his Internet is giving him trouble.

And more Importandly. Remove the Warning Points after a few Hours. Because if someone after he got DCed is gone for 2 hours. Then he either Ragequit. And wont give a F*** about the Penalty anyways. Or he got DCed and either could not go online again or waited for his Internet to Stabilize. So Punishing him right away when he DCs again after giving it a second try 2 hours later. Is really not useful.

I'm currently in Cork Ireland and while the internet is usually fairly stable Virgin Media had an intermittent problem yesterday afternoon that continued for five or six hours where the internet would go down for a period of time.

 

Needless to say once it happened I didn't attempt to play any online team games sticking with Diablo 3 with a number of frustrating DCs.

In my case for last two years. I could have a Single Disconnect for like 10 seconds and then it didnt happen again the entire Month. 

I could also have 2-3 Disconnect in a Range of 2-3 Hours before it got Stable.

I could also have Lags for Hours which might cause the Server to Disconnect me and make me wonder what happened cause my Internet is still there and I can still open Websites with no Problem thus not Noticing it unless I run a Speedtest or Check my Ping on another Program.

I could also have about 5-10 Disconnects spread over the Day.

 

I had that for 3 Years before they Finally Renewed the Cables in this Village.

So mind telling me ? How long should I play Coop there ? 1 Game each ? Or should I just give up for the Day ?

 

The difference is, you are not whining on the forums about how its unfair that you got penalized for it. That makes a huge difference. If you would do that, id tell you exactly the same - probably even harsher as it seems you keep doing it.

- You got DCed once because your provider has problems - fair enough, crap happens

- You go back, get DCed again, you get pink - thats totaly your own fault, dont whine about it

- Coming to the forums because WG should not make you pink, even tho it actually doesnt do anything...

 

Thats whats happened, and you dont understand it. And you keep insulting people in your ramblings, while being absolutely non-constructive.

That's already how it is. It takes you about 3-4 warnings in a row to get punished. Getting pink in not a punishment, it's just the warning. Getting orange is a punishment.

ofc WG should do this & they could but the probable reason they don't is because this would cost them programming time to address this (so they don't)

I would dare claiming that quite alot of People think Differently.

Especially because the First tought most Players in the Game have when they See Pink Players. Is not that they got DCed. But that they are Teamkillers.

And alot of People actually Treat Pink Players degratory.

You can report them to WG... they actually do something about that, atleast if its a severe case.

I know for 100%, but i wont disclose who and what happened.

Actually. I did. When this happened to me a few Times I made Forum Topics complaining about this :)

Not sure if you told me the same back in the Day. But you would get the same Answer you got here.

Which is that your Suggestion would effectively mean that I have to Quit the Game because during that Time I could never be sure of my Connection Staying around.

2.

Thing is Mate. You have to Try again at some point when the Connection is Back. If I had always waited a Full Day before going into Battle again after my Connection came back. Just out of fear that my Connection might break again. Then I would have been Unable to Play for Weeks and 80% of it would have been completetely meaningless because most of the time I got Disconnected 1-3 times before it was fine again for the Day or even for a week or a month.

The Problem is not the People which actually take action against you that is Reportable. The Problem is that everyone sees you as a Teamkiller and will act accordingly. Not Trusting stuff you say or pings you set.

Of course its annoying that some People then Ram you on purpose to tick an offense for you. Or that they on purpose drive in front of you hoping you hit them with torps or Guns or even trashtalk you in the Chat saying "oh look we got a teamkiller noob etc"

But the Bigger Issue is the Public Shaming part.

There is a Reason why Public Shaming is Prohibited in the Forum. And its not because it doesnt do anything Mate.
