Hello.

I present to you a modification that will change the color of all ships to a more historical one.

950007248_zZAl_frLa_8(1).jpg.55c58dcb73dffcc0feb8252cfa7e10f4.jpg.5f4b507d40f7029bb54ec30b7964e1a0.jpg

At the moment, all disposable event camouflages have been replaced with gray monochromatic color schemes that were used in the navies of the countries of the world during World War II.

Some permanent camouflages have also been changed. Some of them have become monochromatic (most of the Soviet, Japanese ships), since I have not yet found a historical color for them.
Therefore, do not be surprised or think that an error has occurred if your camouflage, which previously had a pattern, turns gray.

A couple of small tips in using the mod. Please disable all specific camouflages. This can be done using the gear in the lower right corner, in the port.
Also, given the separation of the economic and visual essence of camouflage, you can use camouflages for the price of 22,500 credits for premium ships as well - for some ships, I have increased the choice. The list is long - so see for yourself.
I also returned some previously disabled strange (Japanese, Pan-American and others, replenishment is in progress) camouflages as *Polygonal Blue/Polygonal Grey* camouflage.

In future updates, I will continue to modify and add historical color schemes for some ships.

This modification was created on the basis of the modification of comrade Sergbob from the Russian forum. In the original, his modification corrects the proportions of the naval flags, and makes the admiral's flags historical.

Link to the theme with the original version of the modification:

https://forum.worldofwarships.ru/topic/51254-0102-исторические-пропорции-корабельных-флагов/?page=1

I simply removed most of the flags, leaving only the admiral's pennants (with the exception of the Yamamoto flag), signal flags, historical naval flags (with the exception of the Japanese Navy flag, which I left the state flag), and flags of alpha and beta testers.

Спасибо Sergbob!

I also want to express my gratitude to comrade @OlliN, which simplifies some processes and facilitates the creation of flag mods.

Please report if there are problems with the display of camouflage.
I am also waiting for advice, ideas on the development of this modification. It would be cool if users were more involved in the dialogue.

A relatively small (relative to the number of colors in the modification) selection of screenshots of the modification, for familiarization of the new user.

The compilation shows single-color paint schemes, as well as several examples of unique camouflages created by me or one of the modders, which allowed me to include their work in this modification.

This modification would have looked different without the creativity of many authors of modifications whose work I use and will use in the future.

Thanks to Tanz, USNA_76, PunishedKAsual, TheStarSlayer, DD__Yukikaze, EH45, Jim_Kong_il, Edelweisse, MrFingers, TheKingOfUm, Swedgin381, KylerAdams, Sergbob, Brooklin82, HBuhring, Aqua_Ch for giving me the opportunity to use their work in the modification.

I hope this list goes on.

I would also like to thank users that help me in some technical matters.

Thank you!

Thanks!  Sorry, another question .. The company for Furious at one stage of the testing seems to have used camouflage at the end of World War I (not the one now).  Then it was replaced, logically thinking that the scheme of period 2 of the world is more correct.  Do you have a case in the bins left this scheme?  (unless of course this is possible and permitted)

In the next update (version 0.2, when enough camouflage is accumulated) I will add a number of new unique historical colors that will replace camouflages of type 1, 2, 5. Also, I will change some permanent camouflages. The post will be supplemented with screenshots that will be located under the spoilers, respectively, of the nation.

At the moment, the structure of the first update of the mod is planned in English, French, Swedish, Japanese (thanks to the help of comrade PunishedKAsual, who provided the opportunity to use its modification in this collection), destroyers, French battleships. there is still a lot of work, and I hope to bring it to the end, but I think at the moment it’s enough, right)? The other day I will post a new version.

Spoiler

Royal Navy. To begin with, the line of development of destroyers. I think I can give each ship a minimum of 1 pattern.

Spoiler

HMS Vanoc. Type 1 camouflage.

French destroyers. According to the plan, each ship (with the exception of Kleber) carries a type 1 camouflage with a tactical number, in two variations (for those who have the ability to change colors) - a red shade on a light gray hull. and white on a dark gray case. Type 5 will not be original for everyone, unfortunately.

Type 2 camouflage - on ships of level 3-5 it will be a standard color with black towers (it will be necessary to change the MG files for the towers, because now they look like they have lost herds of wild animals ), type 5 will certainly have something different from type 1. I’ll post a part of the screenshots now. To be continued.

He was gone for a long time, and he is not aware that I started this work, but earlier we talked with him about Richelieu, and he was not against using his work. So I hope there will be no problems and he will be glad that his work is here.shot-20_05_10_16_10.51-0480.thumb.jpg.09b5e2329337c64d400437d76ed8326b.jpgshot-20_05_10_16_10.38-0707.thumb.jpg.c76fb05a1cc6aa5145a14086739038fc.jpg

Type 5 camouflage. Normandie. American measure 22. It will also be present on the ships Normandie, Lyon, Alsace, République. This combination of American and British schemes seems acceptable and historically probable to me (well, these schemes are easy to draw).

Swedish destroyers. Added textures of ships with a neutrality band (on those ships that were on the eve of the war, and projects of that time) and tactical numbers (on those ships that had these numbers). Added modified camouflage of the Swedish arch (for ships of level 5-7), from which the neutrality strip was removed (there was a duplication of stripes on the texture, and camouflage).

Spoiler

I think you should not sign each screenshot. There are already well-known ships of the European branch level 3-10.

Well, while the test is in progress, I filed a scheme for Grozovoy. Funny, but this scheme is based on a real scheme (of course, another ship, the minesweeper T-407 Mina). This is really interesting, because I thought that it would be difficult to give the Soviet ships schemes. Destroyers will eventually receive each minimum of 1 scheme. So far, the cruisers and battleships of the USSR will receive only historical schemes where they were.

1678412427_unnamed(7).jpg.77f21f805452141a5046b4a98b81a67f.jpg

I used the camouflage from 1918 for the Type 5 for the Unique Camouflage mod: https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/topic/43815-0930-unique-camouflage-plus/?do=findComment&comment=2975470 - but not with the historic colours, if I remember correctly. Of course, Furious 1918 looks very different from the Furious we have in game, so it is impossible to make the pattern historically accurate. But if you want to use those files, you are welcome to do so.

I once found this scheme, either in the game’s files, or on https://gamemodels3d.com/games/worldofwarships/ (by the way, a good site to see camouflage textures if you don’t have all the ships). Yes, it is not historical for the modernization presented in the game, but it is more organic than for example the color of Argus) Thank you very much! I will be glad to see you here more often)

If I create something that will be interesting, I will be glad if you use it in your modification.

I thought, I think it’s worthwhile to delay the release of the new version and accumulate material in order to complete all the destroyer branches. He began to look closely at the Germans (since there are some blanks, while there are few of them - and something new needs to be done, and not just copied). There is such a book German Naval camouflage. I did some schemes of the Germans on it. But there, as I understand it, there is very little material - I just saw a couple of interesting patterns and variations in the search process) For example, I found a series of photos without dates, but personalized as Richard Beitzen (I'm not an expert, and I can’t determine them myself). This is a little suspicious, since the schemes are extremely diverse.

P.S. For Maas, I have schemes. Paul Jacobi and Friedrich Inn are waiting. But these photos, which are not in the book that I have, give an understanding of the fact that books are only part of the information. A small part.

4. And the most delicious. Perhaps this is the same scheme, asymmetric. But it will not work out well to reproduce, since the photos are not particularly good (foreshortening).

It turns out that the coloring of the destroyers Kriegsmarine is as complicated as the coloring of the Soviets (I have suffered so much with Grozny), unless of course I follow the beaten path of books and try to find something new that no one has drawn sketches on yet).

I copy my posts from the American forum. I hope this does not interfere, and gives someone new information.

Thanks to the comrades PunishedKAsual and Tanz, in the future the modification will be supplemented by the destroyers of Japan. I supplemented their work with a couple of my textures (if you find problems in the spelling of names - please let me know, I copied the names of Umikaze from the photo, and I copied the name of Isokase from his descendant - a destroyer like Kagero). Japanese destroyers have a single color with hieroglyphs and marks on the pipes. One exception is Mitsuki, which has historical camouflage.

Changed also some premium ships in Japan. I also changed the alternative colors of the permanent camouflage of Japanese ships. Now the destroyers in the main color have shades of gray, the alternative color will retain the green camouflage (I will not delete it - let it be a bright spot in my boring fashion :3). Cruisers, battleships and carriers, on the contrary, will have standard green camouflage as their primary color. An alternative color will give them a solid color. I did it to see less often spotted green destroyers (in gray colors they are more beautiful in my opinion). While large ships, game permanent camouflages are more suitable.

I forgot to say that I don’t have many ships - therefore, there are no screenshots, or they are without camouflage. Please check camouflage before entering combat to avoid crashes. If this happens (I hope that does not happen) - let me know. Thank.

Most Japanese destroyers (in the future, and cruisers), European destroyers are made in the form of standard textures - this is convenient, since the emblems will be visible when using all disposable camouflages, but at the same time, these textures are not compressed so well by the archiver and take up a large amount of information (140 mb). I will add them with separate modifications, which will be posted here. They rarely change in updates, but with changes or their additions I will let you know.

Alternative branch of Japanese destroyers. Pay attention to Kharagumo and Kitakadze. I noticed photos of Japanese ships after surrender, with the national flag on board, and the name in Latin. I decided to use a similar view for these projects.

Looking good... by the way, the name of the Tier X should be Harugumo (which means "Spring Cloud"). Haragumo apparently means "Belly Cloud", which can also be a meteorological phenomenon, but not one to name ships after ;)

You can test camouflages with replays from https://replayswows.com/. If you can't find a current replay of the ship using the camouflage that you want to test, you can temporarily mod the camouflages.xml, so that it uses the visuals of the camo that you want to test instead of the camouflage that it is actually wearing.

Hello! Unfortunately, I have not yet completed the coloring of the Soviet and German destroyers (overestimated myself hehe). But the tips are drawn. Now I can offer you an updated version of my so far small mod. At the moment, French battleships and destroyers, English destroyers are added to it. After downloading a couple of additional modifications from the first message of the topic, you will also give a historical color to the destroyers of Japan and Sweden.

Plans for the next patch of the game are to add the destroyers of Germany, USSR, USA, Pan-Asia (I think USNA_76 will help me with this).

If you downloaded an additional modification of the color of the Japanese destroyers - please download the modification. I made a mistake in the name Harugumo) Thanks for the help, TheKingOfUm)

Thanks for the support!  Modification does not develop as fast as we would like.  But I hope that after some time (considerable) I will be able to give players at least one historical camouflage for historical ships.  The only question is that few players need this modification (and those who use it are not so active).  There is no feedback on performance (only one old friend unsubscribed in private messages) - this does not give 100% reliability of the modification unfortunately.  Therefore, I inform the players that before going into battle, try to view at least 1 ship all disposable camouflages (if there is an error, tell me when trying on which camouflage the game crashed).  I do the same at home, play without crashes (not so much to test the modification fully), but this does not exclude the possibility of the game crashing - so I will be glad to help and recall.

A few months ago I tried to make a mini mod which replaces all the camos to a single colored one. ( grey ) We have a mod around, but some camos were red, white and black....so I picked the grey one, and renamed all the other files hoping that all the crazy camos ( like halloween camo ) will all be gray, and that's it. Unfortunately it did not work, still don't know why. So I was wery happy to see your work. It is even better than just color them all gray :) But if you don't have time to make camos, just make every camos ( except premium camos ) gray. I would love that too!

Sadly there are not so much players around who likes historical content, but I hope that WG will satisfy them with something as well.

I have time and most importantly - the desire to add unique schemes not only as permanent for doubloons) I just need more test and feedback from the players to improve the modification and reduce the risk of a game crash)

By the way. I did not duplicate my theme here with the replacement of permanent camouflage. But take a look at the topic. Perhaps you will find something interesting there. In the future, those schemes will go into this modification, such as the Irwin (Fletcher type) added today.

Hello! I gradually add color to theSoviet / imperial destroyers. Type 1 will be relatively simple colors - gradient patterns worn by Baltic destroyers at least during World War 1 (I saw photos with 2-3 and even a lot of stripes, which I reflected in the color of the ships), and the pre-war color scheme of Soviet destroyers with letters on board. I still think whether it is worth giving fantasy letters to projects, but I already gave the letter to Kiev - it turned out not bad. We should also pay attention to the project of Podvoisky. It carries one experimental scheme of the period of the 1920s.

Camouflage Type 1.

shot-20_05.19_00_43.33-0856.thumb.jpg.99ae373262dd83bc1a30de64d447855c.jpgshot-20_05.19_00_43.44-0591.thumb.jpg.2624444d6c8cc4d783df82415b6f0f93.jpgshot-20_05.19_00_44.08-0295.thumb.jpg.c9b5a2d9133b296b93c01b7659a4a813.jpgshot-20_05.19_00_44.26-0055.thumb.jpg.6ebf2e508240f6973c3677a94d5bf3a3.jpgshot-20_05.19_00_44.36-0068.thumb.jpg.8c598ff2856c8c83b54cbc9343c88cbd.jpgshot-20_05.19_00_44.52-0677.thumb.jpg.c147763a8d707dbb97a3aa513085fa3b.jpgshot-20_05.19_00_45.08-0668.thumb.jpg.fbabff0ead2c7f37c933862756ab4472.jpgshot-20_05.19_00_45.22-0019.thumb.jpg.18c77284d4a1c07ef0a0e1cecd62f749.jpg

Camouflage type 5.

This camouflage will be more complex. Each painting scheme has a real prototype. When I just started drawing skins and camouflage, I thought it was difficult for the Soviet / imperial fleet to give real schemes. For battleships, cruisers, this is true. But for the destroyers I found a lot, there was even some reserve)) I am glad that I was able to do this.

Storojevoy. I think in the future I will be able to make him a camouflage of type 5. But he is not a priority since he is a project.

Derzky has a scheme of the Black Sea destroyer Bystryy (Fast). This scheme of the period of World War 1, and for me is very interesting.shot-20_05.30_21_39.57-0006.thumb.jpg.5205e0ec82c3402a30b0e20e371cca61.jpg

Izyaslav is painted in the scheme of the Black Sea destroyer Schastlivyy (Happy) (Izyaslav was part of the Baltic Fleet, but the Baltic did not have the abundance of colors that were on the Black Sea. Baltic destroyers were painted according to the schemes that I used for camouflage type 1 - gradient stripes). Scheme of the period of World War 1. The author of the original skin from which I copied camouflage is comrade USNA_76. Thank you!

Groznyy. Destroyer of the same type to Gnevnyy. He was part of the Northern Fleet, as well as the subsequent Baku. The colors are probably not accurate, as there is no reliable information.shot-20_05.30_21_31.07-0733.thumb.jpg.2c43bdc2b1e578cca1fa7395177c6cf6.jpg

Baku. The leader of destroyers of the same type in Minsk. There are several photos in different color schemes (According to one of them, USNA_76 created a skin). I do not know if this is one asymmetric scheme, or two different paint schemes with the same pattern for both sides. I did not find evidence. Therefore, let there be a second option - a symmetrical pattern on 2 sides. There is also unknownness with color - changes are possible.

Kiev. I have often met similar angular schemes. The coloring scheme is historical, but simple. In the future, permutations are possible. For example, you can replace type 5 with permanent camouflage. In Kiev, it is cool and is a gradient scheme from the Black Sea destroyer Soobrazitelnyy. The Company used something similar by the way for Mikoyan.shot-20_05.29_22_16_16-0122.thumb.jpg.eb76141c928846b6a651ccc668ab5336.jpg

We will leave the blue cruiser in its famous color. All the same, I'm trying to make a historical collection.                                                                                                                                                                               shot-20_05.30_21_13.20-0936.thumb.jpg.fff0ded585e927099a293dc495679255.jpg

Khabarovsk.
An adapted scheme of the destroyer Skoryy (type 7-U), in which it is captured on the raid of Tallinn in August 1941. He participated in the Tallinn crossing. During the transition, the destroyer was ordered to tow the destroyer leader Minsk, damaged by a mine explosion, but when he tried to approach it he ran into a mine, broke into two parts and 4 minutes later plunged into the sea. Killed 57 sailors and an unknown number of aircraft technicians of the Baltic Fleet Air Force. So let it be at least in our game, in a similar form it will reach Kronstadt. A kind of reincarnation.shot-20_05.30_20_46.30-0400.thumb.jpg.525f91dfaae744a8697d589957eb6bdb.jpgshot-20_05.30_20_46.56-0455.thumb.jpg.02073dff0e77c1cb17b2353af6b2770c.jpgshot-20_05.30_20_58.57-0291.thumb.jpg.7bdcbaa38e787306ee17eed3f7374463.jpg

Ognevoy. Project 30 bis destroyer coloring - Otryvistyy. Surprisingly, this is a post-war camouflage.                                                                                                                                                                               shot-20_05.29_22_24.47-0916.thumb.jpg.b9ed7d74d2c464d32747a4107ffdf7fb.jpg

Below are the screenshots. Later I will add photos of historical prototypes and screenshots of other colors of the Soviet / imperial destroyers.

Follow the news. Comment on it. Suggest ideas if you're interested in a story.

Now added Udaloy. On this with the Soviet destroyers over. In the future I will return to changing type 1 camouflage, and probably to imperial destroyers - there you can add schemes of the period of the Great Patriotic War to the already created period of World War 1)

The camouflage file has not been updated, so just transfer it to the 0.9.4.1 folder. If you use this modification, please report bugs and color non-historical (New Year, St. Patrick and others) camouflage that should be turned into a wonderful gray to begin with).

German destroyers. I think I will bring it to the next patch to the end (unlike the Americans with whom there will probably be problems). 2-7 levels will have type 1 camouflage. 5-10 levels will have type 5 camouflage.

Camouflage type 1 .

Imperial destroyers carry several color options that I saw in some photos. I could make all the destroyers of World War I black, with a large tactical number, which is also beautiful, but I diversified their appearance. Perhaps they do not have such color samples among their sisterships, but at the same time give some understanding of the color options, and bring some variety.shot-20_06_06_16_43.04-0472.thumb.jpg.8aae2cdd29b76643422294f7ba630027.jpgshot-20_06_06_16_43.18-0395.thumb.jpg.38acc56aca3604af77a091bc4fd0f4e5.jpgshot-20_06_06_16_43.26-0386.thumb.jpg.25fe57daa7f8d0bb34c024d58cea5972.jpg

T-22 has the color of the destroyer T-24 made on the basis of the work of comrade Edelweiss. I could not find him and contact him, but I hope he will not mind when he appears. Thanks to him!shot-20_06_06_16_43.39-0179.thumb.jpg.1c161b0d4bf1332a5a817a44ff006a84.jpg

Camouflage type 5

Ernst Gaede has a scheme based on one of the sketches I saw in one book.

Z-23 - temporarily using permanent camouflage as type 5.

Z-46 - modified permanent camouflage, light nasal extremities added. Subject to change in the future.

Z-52 - historical coloring corresponding to Z-27 for one of the moments of time. Different from that used on Z-23 and 46. Unfortunately, I do not have these ships, and I deleted the screenshots of camouflages made on the test)

In a future update, every German destroyer will receive at least 1 camouflage. In the future, changes and additions are possible, since I have not yet included some of Tanz’s works in them, which I think is not very good, given the excellent quality of his work.

Now the Americans. The company uses on most ships one color scheme. Something like 5-L, 5-N and BK, which is not entirely true for some ships. Example. Original / Mod.  Birmingham's coloration used the colors 5-P, 5-H, 5-N. It looks like this for me ..

shot-20_04.01_13_44.11-0061.jpg.c97b43bcshot-20_06.07_13.01_06-0907.thumb.jpg.ce654fbc0637b22144d3bf14be5ea499.jpg

Notice how the appearance of the ship is different in different ports.

I'll add Baltimore later. There are two color options for one scheme, Baltimore Measure 33 itself and Boston Measure 32.

Given the diversity of schemes used by the US Navy during the war years, I would like to change the color codes of permanent camouflage, as well as camouflage type 1,2,5 that I will add over time. I would also like to display the deck pattern on American ship. To do this, I will modify the mg file. This will give us a more historical coloring scheme, but at the same time we will lose the blue deck when using most schemes with various bonuses. It’s sad. But otherwise nothing.

shot-20_06.07_11_41.07-0524.thumb.jpg.e85ae37e0a812aeb5b3ab2905db07c0c.jpgshot-20_06.07_13_13.47-0376.thumb.jpg.e3ad1fb491c74a91855a6fd101e60143.jpg

With the help of Baltimore and Cleveland, I compose color codes of various measures, which I will later use for redrawing (anyway, I re-draw most of the schemes) of destroyers, battleships, aircraft carriers and other cruisers.

If you want to change the deck colours without changing the mg file, I think that should be possible by using a material type camouflage. Take a look at the Black Friday ships in the camouflages.xml, for example Sims:

This way, they have made a skin for the ship using only the camouflages.xml, not the ship textures. If you take the normal ship texture, paint your camouflage on the hull and the deck (that is, make a skin for the ship, not a traditional camouflage) and then put the camouflage into the XML file like this, you can should be able to change the deck for just this one camouflage. I have so far only tried this as an experiment, not for a real camouflage, but the experiment went well. If you don't want to change the reflective and normal maps, you can just ignore the _mgn entries. The big problem with this is that the <gun> texture is used for many things, main battery, torpedoes, secondaries, and so on. So you have to work around that.
