The rentals - which did you like?

So I tried several ones.

My first doubloon rental was the Missouri and since this is literally my most played ship, I didn't want to try her out again 

The credit rentals I very much liked even if only to be able to try them out!

I tested the Bayard, which I kinda didn't like. The Duca degli Abruzzi played only a single battle but she seemed pretty good actually. Good torp angles, decent reload, it has a heal and HE and hydro. I kinda liked this ship.

Loyang is basically a Benson (I really liked the Benson) but the match was a bottom tier one in which I got outplayed by the enemy DDs.

The Yūdachi though I ended up really liking. Kinda felt like a Shima put in tier 7. Conceilment is not that great (6.1km?) but 15km torps, even managed to land several of them. Yes, that was definitely a fun battle for me 

 

So which ones have you tried and which ones did you like? (and which ones you liked not?)

I tried all of the ones in the credits bundle. I quite liked the Haida, Alabama and Bayard. All of the others didn't really fit my play style.

 

I'm considering to buy one of the ships I liked, but not sure which. I can't find anywhere to buy the Bayard with doubloons, so I can't use the 25% discount coupon. I read forum comments that the Massachusetts would be a better option over the Alabama. And though the Haida is nice, I already have some tier 7 premium ships, and might be better of buying a tier 8 one instead. 

 

Hard choices, but I guess I'll wait for my 25% coupon anyways, so I have some time to think and make a well considered decision. :)

I liked the Duke of York, the Lazo, the Yudachi and the Monaghan. I was disappointed with the Alabama, and not so happy with the Lenin.

I got to try Abruzzi, Bayard, Z-39, Alabama, Mutsu, Yudachi, Loyang and Lenin. The others I aready own. Alabama, Loyang, Bayard and Lenin were nice, Mutsu, Yudachi and Z-39 soso and Abruzzi terrible. That last one is a shame since I was thinking about getting her. She is absolutely gorgeous after all and her sister at tier 6 is my favourite ship at the tier. In that regard, the rental system prevented me from a major disappointment. The tier 8s were all fine, but I still can't  justify the cost, even with the coupon. Alabama because I have NC, Bayard and Lenin because they didn't exist and Loyang because one-trick pony. Of course, I only tried the credit ships.

I was only offered Haida for 250K, and thats the only ship in  the line that i have.. And the captain is also less usefull for me..For doubloons I was offered Atago. While not a bad ship, i dont want to spend 250 doubloons for a rental. And also not in need of a 6 pnt captain.

 

Could try to throw some more cridits and see if I get a better ship and a nice captain as bonus but not really interested...

I only bought a couple credit rentals for the captains.

Didn't play wows in a while...with how grindy the game has become I choose to only play during events so that I don't burn out.

Lazo was fun in CO-OP. Lenin I have yet to test.

Well was only really buying the credit ones for the captains but I did confirm that the Lenin is ridiculously strong and the Yudachi's torps are the most worthless things in the game if you want to do damage in them, they are purely there for area denial, so it is a good thing the Guns and stealth are good... wait they were worse than the Tech tree ship, well that is the reason I completely avoided even considering getting the ship when first released and this just confirmed it (Mind you I did top games in it, though mainly cause the enemy was really bad and let me get away with murder like out gunning a Skane or Mahan...). Owned most of the ships anyway, though I have 2 more to Rent which I don't so I will try them out today.

None of them - the first random ship bundles were unappealing and there is no way that I will spend doubloons to "bypass" a ship i dont want to get to another one I might like to test.

Its a crap system.

If you stick Torp Tubes Mod 1 on the thing and TA on your captain, it gives you 12 km fish going at 65 kts, which isn't wholly disastrous (the T7 silver torp boat with zoomy torps, but no TA, gives a bit more damage, but less range, for the same speed)...

 

Edit: I'd still rather play Z-39 or Haida though...!

Same here, but I still bought all the random bundles for 250k creds... 

 

... Gave me a bunch of 6pt captains to work with in the future. That's a 7cred per CXP ratio and unless I remembered it wrong cheaper than the 4m creds for a 10pt captain a few months ago.

I did the credit bundles largely because I wanted to pick up some captains for a couple of tech tree lines I'm going to start going down. Liked the Bayard, thought the Nelski was quite poor (and confirmed the same about the DoY which I've rented before but can always use another skilled RN skipper), didn't really have any strong reactions to the rest (didn't bother playing any of the destroyers to be honest as it's not my thing). Only ones I'm not bothering with are Lazo and Molotov.

Even with that the detection is still worse than the tech tree torps, then you have the worse guns and stealth still, while having to also waste 2 captain points on TA for this specific ship (guess it would fit Asashio too but I hate that ship's existence).

I spent almost 3 million credits in the bundle I unlocked all but one, the German DD, Z-39 I believed.

and only played a couple.

 

Ships that I liked

Lenin - 3 salvos = 100 k, a WTF ship, Next time i'll brawl a bb at a time not 2 in the same go. Very nimble

Alabama - It's like Hulk, can smash everything it touches. 

 

Inconclusive testing.

 

Graf Spee -  I don't know if it's because it came along after Lenin and Alabama but the guns felt like pea shooters, I didn't get any citadels in BBs. :(

 

Ships that I didn't like.

 

Lazo - A Shchors/chapayev with low ROT comparable with CAs ROT and with a range/guns that nullifies the advantage of extended range with fast shells 

I have Shchors and I have the worse Shchors ( Chapayev) and i don't see the point of having Lazo.

Abbruzi: RIP tier 7 CLs (Still better than Zara and Gorizia)

Monaghan: A bit too vanilla, would spend coal/fxp on one.

Molotov: Super fun in PvE, would buy a very cheap one.

Tier 8: In the era of insane tier 9-10 premiums?? Hahahaha.

From the Credit List: Lenin, very yes. Bayard, Gascogne, Abruzzi, yes. I already own Loyang, Yudachi, Haida, Z-39, Spee, Mutsu, Molotov, Monaghan. Alabama, DoY, Lazo - nah.

 

From the Doubloon list: Gascogne very yes, Missouri, Georgia, yes. Already own Musashi, Kidd. Kronshtadt, Atago, Eugen look good. Vanguard, Roma - nah.

I got to try 2 more, Haida and Z-39. I did not like Z-39, end of line.

Haida was more fun, especially with that rolling smoke along with a spare smoke upgrade.

I played very badly in both of them but the Haida seemed more fun to me.

I did have 1 funny moment though when playing the Z-39.

I was bottom tier in both these matches, both maps Greece. At some point I spotted a Black and as I assumed his radar was on cooldown, I smoked up. Course he popped radar and proceeded to dakka me while remaining spotted himself.

Then his radar ran out (I still lived) and I got unspotted as he smoked up....at 4.8km distance from me. He remained stationary for some reason why I used my pingpongcannons to 'farm' him just inside the range of my 5km hydro 

 

DoY was next, but I already have that one and I was getting tired. Maybe tomorrow I will try out the rest.
