Mainz has entered the shop

The german CL Mainz has entered the shop.

Basically a light-cruiser-version of Hipper/Eugen (more but smaller guns, faster reload, less armor, less agile)

Her 12 150mm-guns don't require IFHE, that's nice.

 

I tested her, and while she has good stats on paper, I personally recommend waiting for the Tallinn (the russian version of the same ship, while still work-in-progress - has better guns, AA and radar)

Means, you have to work like a horse to make her work.

She is a monster penning 38mm without IFHE, having higher dpm than chapayev and a fire chance of 11% with Demo expert and flags.

IDK she looks like a monster on paper? Heavy cruiser armor and 6 s reload on 12 6" guns, put Lutiens on and you will have Iron strike in no time making reload with some AR close to 5 s and that is not a joke with any 6" gun let alone the German "pen em all"

I guess we will see soon but... if wg remains true to himself then she looks good on paper and thats it. I think the Russian equivalent will show how the package has to be packed.

she was amazing.. 

but you need to stay alive for that damage to pile up. 

and her range can be problematic from time to time..

Well I looked at wiki specs and descriptions of the ship seems she doesnt have QUITE the CA armor (that Tallin might or might not sport) but the reload is insane...

 

Low alpha on HE shells is the "fun police" though

She has as much range as any T8 cruiser can offer?

And if you ever get close enough, the AP dpm obviously is off the charts, while even closer you get 6 fish per side.

Tallin is an AP focused ship as it has only 133k HE DPM with 30mm pen compared to 204k with 38mm pen of the Mainz, (which can also be boosted by a 7,5% with Lutjens); with this fire rate and 11% fire chance Mainz is one of the best fire-starter at tier 8, being beaten only by non-IFHE Cleveland and non-IFHE Bayard...

Also, at close range you have more than 400k AP DPM (Hindenburg AP DPM) which is a massive number if you can get some juicy broadside, considering Mainz has Chapayev ballistics on its AP... 

 

Better check the numbers next time

If WoWsft is any correct, Mainz have improved shells over Nurnberg, solving issue of losing too much speed (and thus, penetration) with range. So 12gun rapid firing, 38mm pen by default with terrifying AP damage output against all-or-nothing armored ships

 

Tallin have only AP pen at her side, something not quite relevant when target is angled.

I don't know if IFHE had any impact on Mainz armour but by last know values, Mainz and Tallinn literally had same armour everywhere except for turrets.
