Is AFT still the go to 2nd 4-point captain skill for RN cruisers?

As the title, is AFT still recommended after all the changes to AA and carriers? (for any AA cruiser, but specifically RN - Neptune and Minotaur)

I'm sceptical it's as much use as Radio Location would be, especially if radar is used now and again..

Any thoughts?

AFT is no longer a good skill for AA. Far too expensive.

I've heard the same about massive AA but have never tried it.

Many thanks, glad I asked.

Saw a Flamu vid on the Neptune from 2018.. he says AFT, but seemingly much has changed. I wasn't playing then, but was aware things were different.

Only useful for Smol, Flint and Atlanta. And not for AA boost but for range.

RPF is very nice imo, especially for Radar Mino.

As the others said, AFT is practically useless. Massive AA is even worse, it NERFS your AA, dont use that! BFT is a bit more useful, but also not worth it. A competent CV player will strike you regardless, while an incompetent one will often die to your flak.

Skills you can take instead:

- Vigilance if you want to spot torps even further away

- SE because you can :Smile_trollface: But there have been instances in CBs for me, where i actually survived thanks to SE, so you never know.

What are these AA-cruisers you talk of? are they in this game?

Yep, Hermelin have so brutal AA carriers don't even enter the game, making her THE ultimate AA cruiser.

Radio positioning and concealment for the 4 point skills, great for staying undetected and hunting DDs

Massive AA Fire would be a ripoff if it was a 1 point skill :Smile_trollface: "I know the skill is useful for low AA rating ships, but its still overprices as surgical masks in this pandemic :D"

For what it's worth this is my current 19 Point Minotaur Captain Build:

Went for RL to replace old AA skills and went for more 2 point skills.
