Should the game return to RTS carriers?

no doubt, the old CV gameplay was way much better. Harder, but at least it required some skills .... 

btw, flambass played in china server ... where it's the old CV gameplay. I miss it so much :( :(

RTS (for me) was more fun.

 

it was also much harder, as a result of that, a dominant CV player would make the difference in any match.

 

yes, they can now too... but vision is much more limited, and there is almost no risk due to recycled planes. Before... the risk vs reward was much higher.

 

but no, I don’t think that would be good for the game.

A straight reversal back to RTS CVs exactly as they were, although it will never happen, is a 'no' from me as well.

 

I would have preferred the reework to have actually been focused on making the RTS CVs work properly (we all know the problems with it), but it is what it is.

 

My order of preference would be:

  1. 'Proper' rework of RTS, such that it worked, was balanced, and the skill differential mattered a lot less.
  2. What we have now (although it still needs work IMO).
  3. RTS exactly as was.

All completely moot though, as a change away from the reework isn't going to happen.

It can't return to RTS.

 

RTS style doesn't work well on the console versions of the game, and WG want PC and console versions play style to be as similar as possible. It took WG way too long to start the rework in the first place. I truly believe the only reason they did, is because the development of the console versions of WoWS forced them too do something.

The difference here is between "naval theatre of war" and "naval battlefield", which is mainly spatial. And as WoWs does not feature 300km x 300km maps, having carriers and submarines present on those small scale maps feels as wrong as Disney's ridiculous attempts of Star Wars movies.

RTS carriers came with their whole set of own problems, but the ships themselves weren't so omnipresent. Thing is that the CV rework failed to meet its goals, and CV's are now more than ever an absolute burden, especially since they are now present in 9/10 battles.

if cvs are in 9/10 games then wg will class that as a success

one of the so called main reasons wg did the rework was so more people would play them
