Ranked Sprint

From April 29 to May 11, the 11th Ranked Sprint will take place. Battles will be played on Tier IX-X ships of all classes in a 12 v 12 format in the "Arms Race mode".

 

So..yeah..who exactly thought that this was a good idea?

I always enjoyed playing Sprint bc you could use ships of lower tiers in a rather small environment. It was a lot more forgiving than the usual sweaty Ranked gameplay and felt more casual after all. Transforming Sprint into a 12 v 12 Ranked clusterfudge will surely keep me from playing a single game this season.

As someone else said lately: I really dread any new patchnotes from this game because there is hardly ever a time in which one reads something encouraging anymore.

What the..............................?? Why don't they just extend the current Rank season?

I was really looking forward to a break from all the tier10 Rank/Clan grind. So, what's the difference between this and a regular tier 9-10 Random battle? 'Arms race' mode, which is not that popular in current Rank season? 10k Coal at rank 1 and some flags along the way, something one should be able to accumulate in , let's say, 2 weeks from daily containers anyway? That does not offset the expected stress of ranking within a short period of time in a game environment full of Smolensks (again..) Alaskas, Benhams, Frieslands, Stalingrads, CVs and other OP ships, as far as I'm concerned.

Well 2 man div vs solo  is a big deal BUT  yes I would love normal mode tier 6-7 instead..

we'll see if it is 2men or 3men..
because it is not 7v7 or 8v8 now.. it is like regular randoms with 12vs12

actually It really looks like this seaon is just an experiment to try "armed race" for "randoms" without trying them in "randoms"

Arms Race - ok, why not I've liked it so far.

IX-X - boooring, why every special event is IX or X? worst gameplay and meta.

12vs12 - dear god why?

Still same rewards even when you are required to carry the double amount of "team-mates" in this season?

Anyone want to bet that some sort of - obscenely expensive, naturally - way to get hold of Benham will  - entirely coincidentally - appear just around the time of the season start?

 

Of course, this removes yet another CV-free mode; I find it breathtaking that WG are cretinous enough to think that CVs are fine for all modes now - they're close, but most emphatically not fine.

 

Trying to be positive, this might turn out to be vaguely fun in some circumstances - there are a small number of T9s that are arguably better than the corresponding T10, plus it'll provide an interesting challenge for the really good players (of whom I'm not one)...

Hmmm, I'd missed that it was 12 v 12 (that's what you get for opening the forum too early in the morning) - why bother with this mode then, if it's basically just weird randoms, unless whatever missions that are going on at the time can be done in Sprint or the rewards are truly spectacular?

 

For me, it's about efficiency: getting the maximum amount done in a sensible time-frame. If Sprint doesn't tick the boxes, then I won't play it, but if it does then I will (but not with any aim/expectation of getting to Rank 1, because it'll be far too dependent on the random distribution of those few players who are even worse than I am).

I dare you to play a ranked battle r5+ with a CV.

You'll run into super unicums all the time and realize that nobody can dodge spotting.

I just Ranked out in Daring.....70% winrate in said bracket.

Not many CV games, but they were rarely bad. But beside the first 5 minutes, they usually are busy elsewhere and smokes can be used to annoy them to no end.
