When the airplanes return is not the problem as they will be at safe altitude faster, however it seems this doesn't work and nobody has reported it as bug. 

I will test it on next PTS.

No. Max airplanes are fast to closing to the target and aiming-locking. This is the same for all German carriers, so none of them needs Torpedo Bomber or Sight Stabilization skills, contrary to other carriers (Japanese, American and Soviet) that these 2 skills are mandatory. 

 

Also, a trick with Max skip bombers is that if you drop on the 3rd line (the one further), you can boost and turn immediately when the drop happens. That way the airplanes avoid all medium & close range AA and are ready to attack from the same side again. If you get your reaction time to be quick enough, you can do two full attacks and only lose maximum two airplanes from the third squadron. 

 

Sometimes I do all full three attacks as it is possible if the third squadron has lost just 1 airplane.

 

For DDs you can nuke them by aiming on the first line (the one nearest). It does still full damage and eats half the HP from most DDs 

 

 

If you don't play German carriers, no need to get a new commander at tier 10 as you will suffer. Pick a commander you have for the other German ships, even Lutjens, and set the skills for the carrier. Since Max counts as Premium/Special ship, the commander doesn't require retraining.

Today I noticed that wargaming added AUTO depth charges in aircraft carriers !!!

Yep. Max is one of the most consistent carriers somehow on Random battles. The funny thing is that the torps have 6km range and crawling, which means they stay active for pretty long time and had several times aimed at one target, missed 1-2 torps and later on hit someone else who just turned and passed on their path. :Smile_trollface:

From what I understand the -50% immunity altitude value is misleading as it doesn't mean your planes take half the time to reach it, it means that the distance between altitude ceiling and immunity altitude is reduced.

To illustrate:

Since the skill reduces return speed by 50%, that means even with the reduced immunity altitude your planes will still take a far longer time to reach it and take more casualties in the process.

Multiple WG employees have confirmed that this is working as intended. The skill is NOT bugged. It's just a noob trap.

I think Ahskance explained that with the HM skill, the flak will kill more planes due to slower speed to reach immunity ceiling. That is the main reason why HM loses more planes. 

 

Only with US I use that skill without affecting her plane lose too much as the main weapon comes from her tactical jet planes that don't come back.

Thanks. Never used HM because there are so many skills there that there aren't enough points but just had a thought about the "Atrocious".

 

What you described was one of my first observations when cancelled the airplanes to get the next squadron up. Except for the German carriers, which apparently rarely

losing airplane on return phase (maybe due to their speed? ), all the rest using boost + turn to get away from the flak range before click F to return them and pick next squadron. 
It has helped a lot to preserve airplanes from needless casualties. 

 

Btw added the Force Take Off module and the carrier improved on those 2 battles used it. (Ranked), that 20% extra boost time helps a lot to avoid a lot of AA damage.

Has anyone faced Malta? I know its still under NDA, but that doesn't prevent anyone who played alongside or against it reporting on their experience right?

I have faced it and played with one on my team. I believe it's stronger than Audacious and has great potential.

Malta AP bombs is too OP, AP bombs have high Alpha but they drop few in no and is also subject to RNG. Malta have the best of both world, good pen, dmg and high no of hits. I was killed in my Austin by her AP bombs, over 10k dmg per drop.

You understand that Haku and MvR also have those and hit just as hard?

Like i said, they drop 3 and RNG might screw you. You can try to dodge their 3 bombs. Try to dodge a shower of Malta AP brombs drooped in a circular reticle is much harder.

Richthofen bombs are reliable on cruisers if hit from the highest point. And only need 1 to do 15-20K damage citadel on a cruiser. 

I use them all the time if ran out of rockets against cruisers.

the only comment i have here ,   has the mods team of this game nothing else to do then kick CV players  outh of the game with span shells, torpedoes coming from islands ?

I've been playing here for years out of boredom I've seen a lot of Alm but never something like this.
