So we finally hit 10,000 comments in this thread and whilst still a way to go to match certain previous threads it’s nice to see the core issues remain hotly debated.

Im sure WG have a good laugh at our expense that so much effort and even some good suggestions get posted here to be left in the dustbin of opinions.

I see things are going well here, the thread is healthy. I just have a quick question. I spotted this comment on a distant forum community, and was somewhat perplexed/

What do you think of the NA CC Ahskance as a source of advice on CVs?

image.png.bcb5ff66dd903fc352debd09b52403e9.png

Does anyone here follow/watch his stuff?

edit : also why so much dutch? I share the concern about them, I have dutch family, very troublesome.

I've seen it. His stuff is very good for potaters.

But even I can poke (large...) holes in his theories.

Anyone that is reasonably savvy with CVs is gonna ROFLOL.

He tries to teach which is laudable and he is quite good. I have noticed though that he will sometimes teach without having sufficient knowledge of a certain mechanic.

I do find him hat to watch has he always sounds angry and says F*ck every third word.

I actually prefer Reimu Bakeri. He is also pretty knowledgeable but also humble and easier to watch.

I wouldn't use him as a font of anything useful. He is notable for nothing other than an eagerness to have his nose firmly up the backside of WG.

Recall that he wheeled out an 'Ahskance Explains!' video where he told everyone all the events of the CC Exodus including those leading up to it - within minutes of the whole thing kicking off - impressive! Unfortunately - quite a few ex-CCs and ex-NA staff were on hand to say a) he was wrong about 95% of it and b) what little he got right he didn't actually understand.

WGNA should probably offer him a job. After all, there's probably only two people left on their community team and one of them is the guy who services the photocopier....

I've seen him spouting his wisdom on the NA forums.. and also every time he does El2azer is never far away to poke lots of holes in his teachings!

If only AA could do to CV planes what El2 does to Ahskance's wisdom then there'd be no need for this thread! :Smile_trollface:

Explains the basics very well, although his explanations are a bit too long winded for my personal taste but then again I prefer reading material over videos anyway so that's not really his fault.

Just don't get caught up in anything when he talks about game design, balancing, current community situations or anything of that sort. He has absolutely no clue about those.

I like his content. Not as biased as a lot of others and reasonably down to earth. Certainly not such a tryhard — refreshing!

Do we need to talk about Serows RPs or shall we talk about Mikojans armor?

Try the Serov in Raptor scenario and you will laugh on what you can do on those poor Kumas or even Hosho and Ryujo bots :Smile_trollface:

What is your preferred build for Russian CVs? Apart from the standard, do you go Proximity Fuse + Bomber speed or Torpedo arming distance + something else?

So far I went with Proximity Fuse and Bomber speed on Serov and Chkalow. You cant take a heal which frees up two points, no comfy Last Gasp either.

On a strike group that has only one strike?

Does last gasp kick in right at the start?

My preferred build would be one that includes something like a big red autodestruct button with a big "DO NOT PUSH!" sign shown onscreen...

If WG would give me the chance to change 1 thing about CV's than it would be the fact that it's possible to drop torps from high altitude. Now they come over an island. are still as high as the highest  ingame mountain and there go the torps with an as good as vertical fall. Hit the water and than go horizontal toward to the enemy ship.

I would love a maximum height ( near the water surface of course) for dropping torps. Above that height the launch should be 100% a failure.

I am just glad that WG saved the face of Comrade Putin, and was able to construct some effective RU CVs that shoots bombs that jump on water from some napkins (what the napkins were used for before becoming stronk soviet design is still a mistery).

The Kuznetsov embarrassed Moscow in late 2016, when it was deployed to the Eastern Mediterranean to support Russia’s intervention in the Syrian civil war. As usual, the carrier had to be accompanied by tug boats in case of mechanical problems. The vessel is not nuclear powered, and a faulty engine resulted in the Kuznetsov spewing a thick, black column of oil smoke as it rounded the European peninsula. Moreover, during the course of the mission, several naval jets ended up crashing into the sea (see EDM, October 27, 2016November 15, 2016). Last year, the floating drydock that was to be used to refit it sank, damaging the ship. And Russian yards, which have not built an aircraft carrier in decades, are too small to handle the job (see EDM, November 1, 2018). Indeed, one Russian official suggested that a new aircraft carrier ought to be constructed in three different places and then assembled at sea. And now, Russian naval ship builders have, in effect, admitted defeat: the country is unlikely to see a new aircraft carrier (the largest, most complicated and potentially most innovative naval vessel at sea today) any time soon.

you call reposting the same ideas for soon 3years in repeat effort?

There's a flip side to that comment.  I wonder if anyone can spell it out for me, because frankly I can't be bothered.
