Serious. They still fly, they're still faster and handle mostly like aircraft so are decent training for higher tiers, but they're about as ponderous in turning as ships and they have to physically go to the place they want to do damage (am assuming it would be by bombs, on cooldown/reloading between attacks in the same way as ships' guns, could even give the same choice between AP and HE if we're feeling fancy). Ships would damage them with AA guns, then it would just be a matter of balancing their HP appropriately. Well it is easy to strike a Mino, since they always wait to deploy smoke - and if they sit still and smoke, it is not that hard to find out where they are. I'm always amazed how people think, they sit still, get spotted by CV, then just use smoke... and keep sitting where they were. I think it is this: Where in other ships the "lock-on reticule" helps with aim, and gets thrown off when you smoke up... CVs do not have this "handy helper". So, no effect... As for attacking a Mino in the first place... yes it can be done. Usually they sit behind mountains and such. They have good AA (well... as good as it gets) but if you manage to approach "unspotted" the AA does nothing. So you pop up 3km from the Mino, drop torps (into his sudden smoke) and get out quickly. Even best scenario would be 5% vs 10,4%. Also most DDs cant heal either. And CVs are most of the time safe. But apparently, they need more training wheels in case they do get under fire, so they dont sink fast enough. This could ofc also come from WGs theory, that BBs should shoot HE at CVs.
