@BLUB__BLUB this match is the other end of the spectrum, about the same damage to planes as my Smolensk screen.

But here I at least got something out of it. Then again, Kaga really shows the meaning of: near unlimited reserves

Agreed. They were still fairly OP back then, but the fact that CV's had to win the air war vs. the enemy one so it wasn't just a "who farms the enemy team faster" competition meant that they'd have to focus on what the other CV is doing and counter it, which did put some pressure away from other classes. In addition to that, the specific skillset required meant that you'd rarely actually see them - they still had the potential to absolutely ruin games, but CV matches were less frequent meaning the role of a stealth, flanking (or even, god forbid, AA) ship still existed. Ofc WG needed to dumb it down so they can peddle lootboxes to console players, so now we have this landfill meta. Old CV's won't return, sadly.

 I have just returned to playing after a long gap from WOW to find the CV play ruined. Not really much to add that hasn't been posted in the above 180 pages on this thread. No chance of getting my money back for all those CVs I bought that to me are now completely useless?

Problem is the same as it was 5 years ago, a class that ignores so many of the game's fundamental balance mechanics that it's essentially a completely different game piggy-backed onto the other.

Tbh, given unique nature of carriers, "unique RTS gameplay" was the most befitting for them. Just rebalance RTS instead hamfisting carriers into console friendly controls.

Actually have to revise that. They first start of going much more forward when gaining altitude but then as they're diving the reticle becomes completely static in horizontal movement. This makes IJN DBs hilariously awkward to use.

When does world of warship see that they made a mistake with the cv rework even tho they worked hard on the rework. We want back the old cv gameplay much more chanllanging and fun because you could control multiple squadrins

It's just a minority whining you know.

 

Btw I had a go with FDR. Now one of my best irl friends calls me cancer :D (person who never visits the forum). So they are indeed loved.

Too be honest it was mostly memes (how i got my warning lol) and fat arguements plus suggestions that were sensible that got ignored.

 

Basically we are at 800 or so pages since the last part died at page 550-ish.

Strange how people dont visit forums for games they play but that might be me.

 

Makes me wonder if weegee has actually lookec at any of the pages here yet?

Probably you, since clearly most don't do. Why should they really? To complain? right now I have 2 rl friends who play with me. I can hear them rolling their eyes when I explain how CVs work.. and when they encounter them. Yet they're at least smart enough to realize there's not really any point to say anything.. and @Excavatus wonder why we just talk crap here.

Did the CV reeeeeeeeeeework ever make it onto consoles?  To the best of my knowledge it didn't.

 

No amount of balancing changes the underlying problem, it's fundamentally a different game piggy-backed onto a FPS shooter, RTS was only tollerable becuase the players were sufficienctly rare, improve the balance and one of two things happen, more CV players or an even :etc_swear:ier CV game experience, it's not a solveable problem.

Yes, when you are in Kaga just stay away from Halland unless he screws up.

He'll just shoot down the whole squad without the CV getting a shot. 

Unless your team spots him and you can get him full boost,

surprise him with torps, or bomb him form behind an island. 

 

BTW he must have wanted you dead badly there...

Here's something funny:

Fighters have been heavily nerfed in their air-to-air role. They now need to get much closer to engage which often allows bailing squadrons to escape and their DPS has been heavily nerfed, so they will shoot down planes much more slowly.

 

Clearly fighters weren't useless enough in air interception yet.

Just saw a vid by Aroon that showed off some stupid moves. Stupid as in how does one design, test and still allow crap like this: no penalty when turning fully aimed. :fish_palm:

Dont these people learn from creating things like Enterprise and then being forced to remove it from the store because they effed up it's properties and handling?

So I got around to playing some CV.

I have to say that the worst part about playing CV is the demoralization and frustration due to witnessing in greater detail how your team manages to kill itself in the most spectacularly smoothbrained ways previously thought impossible by science. You literally cannot kill people faster than they find new ways to feed, I understand what CVs are balanced around now.

Yes, basically you are trying to help them to win, but you see them tater to death.

CV is more of a strategic overview, and you understand what happens.

Sometimes you can actually do something about it...

Somehow a lot of the carrier players I meet don't see the strategy in the overview view they have :P

a lot of carrier players only play carriers, they don't understand how other ships fit into strategy, with the rework, if they work out how to takeoff,  they quickly forget they have a CV (tunnel vision of squadron command) until it is sunk.
