No.

The RN used white camos on the china station.

 

Where WG was wrong are the yellow funnels

China Station white hull, white structure and yellow chimneys.

For the other regions blue hull, white structure and yellow chimneys.

Chester, St. Louis, Albany, all have that camouflage (Chester and St. Louis this is the base colour of the stock hull) but weren't part of the squadron, so was that just the standard scheme of the day?

When the Fleet was on its way home they were joined by Battleships Maine, Mississippi, Idaho, New Hampshire, Armoured Cruisers North Carolina and Montana, Scout Cruisers Chester, Birmingham, and Salem, 17-21 February 1909. Apparently all were in new-style grey paint.

Thats not true actually.

As far as I know a lot of books get the colors wrong.

 

From Admiralty Fleet Order (AFO) 3948 of 1919: China Station upperworks were grey at the start of the inter-war period.

 

The grey in question was 507B

 

 

And on orthochromatic film yellow funnels will render dark to extremely dark, more so than would be expected for the grey color.

 

Here is a comperison between Norfolk with the East Indies Color vs. Berwick with the China Color:

You can clearly see that the funnels are way darker on Norfolk then on Berwick

Article ninja-edited? Previously it said: "Twenty-two skilled Commanders who are touched by luck will get 3 months of Warships Premium Account  and 100x “For Meritorious Service”  camouflages, in addition to other prizes!"

 

This now has been removed from the EU and ASIA articles, and kept in place for the NA & RU articles (RU has a way bigger event with patches and free containers for the 23rd of February holiday).

Great White Fleet: Part 1
Over any amount of battles during the Great White Fleet event, achieve 2x top-3 places in your team standings by base XP (including lost battles).  Reward: 5x “For Meritorious Service” camouflages Ship restrictions: Tier V-X ships. Battle type restrictions: Random and Co-op You can complete this combat mission only once.
Great White Fleet: Part 2
Over any amount of battles during the Great White Fleet event, score 20x top-3 places in your team standings by base XP (including lost battles). Earn 15,000 base XP Reward: 4x Wargaming containers Ship restrictions: Tier V-X ships.  Battle type restrictions: Random and Co-op You can complete this combat mission only once.

Well, I did get the camos, so now what?

Facepalm.... Now I get it.... I don't know it is intentional on their part or simply they are just THAT "dumb"... Their wording is sometimes EXTREMELY misleading, I'm 50/50 about they actually making mistakes and not intentional, buut....

I've checked and the text is there. Can't see any record of it being edited.

For me, it was the 'expires 24/2/2020' that caught me out. Optimistic soul as I am, I assumed that meant the end of the day mentioned, rather than the end of the day before; now I've missed out on the containers for want of a thousand or so base XP (not like I'd ever be in with a shot of the extras knowing my luck)...

Try looking at https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/sales-and-events/the-big-stick/ , as linked in the original post here, rather than https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/sales-and-events/missions-091-weekly-1/ , as in your screenshot. The text should be on both, so they have screwed up, but it is on the first one.

They also released another article which was a complete mess with an invalid URL.

 

After I pointed it out, they deleted the whole article and related thread on this forum.
