Those changes are quite huge and were announced in advance. Several of the upgrades were removed and changed, so you received the full price for them back. So you didn't lose everything. With new upgrades you have more options on how to set your ship, so that is why it is free for this week, as we understand you need some time to think how to set your ship properly or try a different approach.
