Here is a quick tutorial on how to drop bombs which applies to all US CVs.

It guarantees bomb hits on broadsiding DDs with close to every drop.

This screenshot shows how to not aim the drop. You dont want the bombs to land on the crosshair overlapping the DD AFTER the drop.

This screenshot is a suboptimal drop you should go for if the next one is not availible. The DD needs to end up in the lower part of the reticle closer to the X as the Bombs hit the water.

This is the optimal place you want the bombs to land when they hit the water on the DD. Nearly always guaranteed one Bomb to hit and often even more than 2.

 

 

Here is a YT video showing the drops on a very small and slim ship (Umikaze) and their consistancy.

 

1drop:

RNG said no and Umikazes small size played a role.

2drop:

Perfect hit with 2 bombs. Perfect prediciton of the players drift.

3drop:

The crosshair overlapped the DD when bombs hit the water. This will almost never hit. 95% of the time it will be a miss. Avoid that to happen.

4drop:

Perfect drop with the guaranteed hit, only one bomb however and that with one less plane!

But it is wrong. You can hit. And it was the way to drop it until they did  change pattern to be more elliptical to prevent DD dmg and increase BBs dmg as bombs drop more on elliptical pattern and hit long ships all over. 

 

You would not drop BBs or CA from side. So no benefit to drop DDs feom side.

You cant choose how you want to drop a dodging and wiggling DD. If he shows you perfect boradside or a slight broadside, a diagonal my tutorial will give you success.

Obivously one should try to drop the DD the full lenght... it's so obvious i didn't want to mention it because if people can't grasp the obvious CV isnt for them.

Offcourse I am talking what is perfect approach. I missed it or you did not point it out clear enought that this is emergency drop. This, broadside strike is second best, if you can not do perfect drop. But good job on explaining broadside drop.

Yes exactly. Basically a DD with a brain will show you broadside. Every other DD doesnt need a tutorial to kill ;D
