COOP only game

Hi,

is it just me or am I not the only one who EXCLUSIVELY enjoys coop games?

I notice an increase in coop players, I rarely see a bots-only game with me as the only human player anymore, not like two - three years ago.

So, that was the question. From here, some explanation where I come from:

I am a great fan of the ship models, and where ever I can, I avoid all fantasy ships. For example, I never advance the tech tree if the ship never existed, to have a 'historical' collection as much as possible. For example, I stopped the UK BB line after obtaining the King George V at tier VII. I -did- spend a fair amount of real money on the specials, such as the endearing HMS Hood and USS Arizona etc. and one of my favorite ships is USS Atlanta, among many... many others. WG knows how much money I spent...

So I quite like the relaxed style provided by COOP games. The short nature of those matches sometimes wreck the damage over time effects, and WG does not reward the game type as much, which is IMHO unfair. HA!

To those who think it's too easy: okay the bots usually stampede to the flags, but can be a challenge since the bots have laser precise aiming, and often concentrate forces, occasionally overwhelming a flank, or putting up a flak wall.

IMHO:  advantages of coop play: ... there is virtually no player aggression: the chat abuse is minimal.

Kind regards! Yours truly,

Your only question was if you’re the only one enjoying coop, which you’ve answered yourself in the OP as you say there’s an increasing number of human players in coop. Not sure what feedback/advice you’re after from the forumites.

Regardless, good for you. Keep enjoying the game. :cap_like:

Recently (last few months) I play co-ops almost exclusively.

I find them more relaxing and less toxic than Random battles.

That being said, WG is doing all they can to fuk up the co-op mode by making the battles shorter thus nerfing the rewards and the economic viability of playing them.

First of all: Good that you enjoy co-op, its the only thing that should matter to you!

Yes I enjoy CO-OP too for different reasons:

  1. Missions that are more forgiving in co-op,
  2. snowflake win hunting,
  3. trying out the new CV play (really bad, dont want to bother my team in a random game yet),
  4. inital testing of a new ship, unlocking some modules etc..
  5. Escaping the cv menace.
  6. Escaping the sometimes more salty random environment
  7. Escaping the frustration of working with even worse players them me that succeed in catching defeat out of the jaws of victory..

Although today it became clear that the better players went back tot PvP since i had some games with really incompetent tier 10 co op players that are so bad i cannot compensate in a mere tier 8. And they do get salty when you call them out for being really bad...

I like Coop too, in small doses. There are several reasons that I still play the mode (in no particular order):

  • Warm-up battles first thing (along with Ops).
  • Trying out new ships.
  • Playing ships that I'm simply not good enough in to not be a liability against real people.
  • Missions (which is probably the single biggest contributor to my number of Coop games these days).

I don't play Coop exclusively though...

I dont like Coop.

I use it for certain Grinds and Missions however.

I also use it now and then to test something as its easier than to create a Training Room.

But I dont like it.

The Bots are too weak.

And the Rewards are too low.

I play Co-op and Operations, these days.

I wish it was more demanding but it's easy to complete the directives/grinds and much less stressful than playing randoms, because of the lack of team mates and CVs.

I use co-op more these days due to the number of ships I have in port. Co-op helps me refresh my memory on how the guns/torps/agility performs before going into randoms. The training room doesn't give you credits when training.

Hang on. If there are less bots does that not make Coop randoms?

If you play at 2am, you'll be the only player in the co-op game. But they are fun games.

i would much rather play a co op version , i find the pvp mode to be pretty dull. really wish they would invest some time and effort in co op modes dont have to be deeply scripted events like the ops

@NovemberOscarOscarBravo

I play the majority of my games in Coop but I am not exclusively Coop.

I also play Operations (unless grinding directive that do not allow Operations,) and some Randoms. I can't remember the last time that my clan did a Clan Battle but I occasionally play Ranked. Therefore I don't fit your requirements of Exclusively.

I am finding that some of the Coop players seem to think that the toxicity of random is OK in Coop.

On the whole chat in Coop is either silent or actually is engaging. Yet the very short nature of the games limits the interaction somewhat.

The main point of playing WoWs for me is to unwind so the friendly nature of Coop is great.

If people want to think that the only point is PvP, then good for them.

I am happy that you enjoy coop mode.

I am unfortunately too much of a tryhard to find lasting satisfaction in it, but if you aren't: more power to you!

Don't let anyone give you crap because it's too easy or whatever – we all just play with virtual toy ships at the end of the day.

Some of my co-workers are also fans of it, for the same reasons as you are, so I think you are in good company. :)

-

Edit: If you ask me, the devs should increase the rewards of coop battles. It's not like the other players would lose something, and I don't see why people should have a harder grind, just for preferring a different game mode. And maybe it would keep certain players (and bots) from joining randoms altogether. ;)

I dont get it... Whats the point playing only coop? Booring, too easy vs bots, no challenge, you dont get any exp and credits, all games are pretty much the same

I usually take a spin or two in coop if I have a new high tier ship just to get the feel of handling and guns, low tier ships I just play in random.

Then there is the Christmas snowflake event, I have over 100 snowflake ships and knocking the flakes off all them would take forever in random so I just play the randoms I would have played anyway and do the rest in coop

@NovemberOscarOscarBravo, fyi the NA forum has an entire subsection devoted to pve gameplay https://forum.worldofwarships.com/forum/327-pve-content/

I prefer doing Operations mostly, as it's quite fun to run a mission with a small team of players you know you can count on and can chat with. Although it can become a bit of a damage race sometimes with larger groups and some people who hang around in the Operations channel are best avoided, for various reasons.

Co-op I also do frequently, just to grind up my silver ships and understand their handling and performance. But co-op is not a great mode for slower ships. It's an all-you-can-eat buffet for destroyers when there are eight other humans. But playing with potatoes can be tiresome when they die and somehow it's your fault. I get karma in Ops, I lose it in co-op :Smile_sceptic: To the point where I much prefer quiet times when there are fewer humans: it changes the game from a race to a marathon where you have to think strategically about preserving some bot allies while being in the best positions to get kills and achieve the goals.

My favourite game ever was one in the PR grind where we had me (Bismarck), another Bismarck, a Richelieu, and a Derpitz, the rest bots, and the three of us agreed to just use secondaries only for one of the Directives. Derpitz didn't play along and just went for the kills before getting himself sunk, but the rest of us had a great time taking it in turns to tank whilst racking up those secondary hits. Compliments to both those guys.

I play coop now and then, mainly if I need to knock off a snowflake or complete some mission where the coop mode is clearly the best environment (such as getting 200 secondaries hits, for example). And I play almost all my CV games either in coop or scenarios, since I don't regard myself as a skilled enough CV player to reliably pull my weight in a CV in random battles. Otherwise, I tend to find the bot behaviour a bit too boring and predictable to spend very much time in the coop garden.

I quite like coop games as well. I pretty much play no PvP at all. It's way more relaxed. Sure, progression is slower, but I don't mind. :)

I‘d like to see a second Coop mode, where the bot team has twice the numbers of the player team.

I enjoy co-op because there are no cowards dds hiding in smoke screen, invisible shooting and ships camping on both sides. Just plain and straight shelling.

They trailed this 3-ish years ago with a few different versions of Co-op which eventually became "Scenarios" instead, so convoy escort, team surrounded by increasing waves of bots etc and I really enjoyed it, but I'm a very good co-op player so I found it easier than some others who complained it was too hard.

Anyway, after they became Scenarios WG hasn't touched Co-op in any major way since, I mean an extra ship here or there, MM changes, slight bot tweaks etc but nothing like crazy 20 bots vs 10 humans or 10 T5 humans vs 3 T10 bots or anything else radical.

Hell even scenarios have been abandoned now!
