change a year ago or so for battleships, bell sounds when reloaded ... just in case you fell asleep while waiting on the reload .... cannot be turned off ... praise WG for their eternal wisdom

Just been posting in the general thread on this topic.

A good bell would be bad enough. This one is horribly flat and discordant. It may seem trivial to some people, but to me it's fingernails down a blackboard, a baby screaming. It makes the game unplayable - I've played two matches with it, and I had to take my headphones off for the last half of the second match. I'm not going to be the only one who hates it. I won't be playing until it's fixed. If it's not going to be fixed, WG can tell me and I'll uninstall - it's that bad.

Today is the first time I've had it - it wasn't there for me before this update. All I got before was the ssssh-clunk loading sound; that was absolutely fine.

I agree with you guys. Never heard before and it's very annoying.

At least it's limited to BBs. Already I can't stand the sound of a DD's engine implemented a few updates ago, but at least I can zoom to spare my ears; but there is no escape from the bell. WTF?!?

I agree, that bell sound is really annoying - and it was NOT there before 0.9.0 (if it was I couldn't hear it). Switch it off WG!!

I've sent a direct mail to Crysantos on this. I'll keep you posted on the response as and when I get one.

No response from Crysantos; I've tried MrConway too, same lack of results. Apparently my mails haven't been read, which is odd since they were both active on the forum when I sent them the mails. I'm beginning to get the feeling I'm being blanked - which is even odder, since the questions I'm asking (can it be turned off? Is it intended to be permanent?) don't seem to me to be particularly difficult questions, or particularly time consuming to answer.

Anyone else know anything about this?

I just checked a video of me playing in june 2018 and the bell is there so a least one and a half year. In fact, iirc it's always been there.

Checked some BB replays in my collection and the bells are not there! Not in 2018 or in 2019. Maybe it used to be an option before.

Replays use the setting you have now. A vid made 18 months ago used the current settings.

And how do you watch a two year old replay? They stop working when a new patch comes out.

All I know is that the bell isn't new and I haven't changed my audio-settings for years.

Needless to say, I'm fully aware that WOWS replay files stop working after each update. What I meant is that I have a folder full of video files recording my screen while I was watching a replay of my best battles, same as you I guess except I don't upload them on YouTube. You are not the only one capable to do it.

And the damn bells aren't there. Happy now?

Nope

I have vids that go back two years and the bell is there.
