The Thunderer. Love her or Loathe her?

I am at the point where I have sufficient resources to buy any of the top 4 Coal ships so I am wondering what your opinion of her is?

 

Is she worth the coal? (My other choices are Yoshino, Salem or Georgia)..

My opinion mate?

 

Love her.  She is your snipers sniper but a mobile one.  She rewards people that can lead and aim well.  I also had reservations about the ship but when you look into those guns, that rate of fire and the sigma and knew it was a ship for me.

 

I think she is a great ship.

 

She can cause MASSIVE damage to anything. 

 

but like any ship, you have to enjoy that style of play.

Lol :D  I say Thunderer among those four. Then Georgia would be my second choice. Salem is a derivation of Des Moines. Yoshino only if you like a Zao which can shoot harder, farther and send torps for 20km. You like cruiser or BBs more?

Do you have a Des or gonna grind the line? If so then don't get the Salem

 

The Yoshino is a huge citadel and ALL the players I see playing it play on the back line and hardly influence the game. I repeat, it has a MASSIVE cit that loves being found.

 

Georgia is a good ship but for little extra coal you can get a tier 10, and the Thunderer hits harder.  But the Georgia is fun.

 

If I had only one of those ships....Thunderer mate.

Thunderer is probably the second best battleship after the Kremlin (until this very important nerd that is coming).

 

Georgia is good as is JB but the Thunderer is a very special ship. you can HE spam and do very well or you can load AP and do even better.

But be warned like most ships (well, not much with the Russian ones) but there are weakness.

 

It will get eat alive by HE as it's only 32mm and it's HP is low for a BB. And it's cit will be wreaked if you show too much broadside to certain BB's.

 

But it's AA, Heavy Heavy guns and accurate fire makes up for it's shortfalls IMHO.

 

Play it as a medium range BB and move around.  It's not a bow-on tanker in the slightest.  You move around the map to locations where your team needs heavy guns.

 

Oh and it's HE is crazy good with massive splash damage.

Get the Thunderer. Thunderer is love. If you miss a salvo its you, not her.

I don’t think Kremlin losing some AA mount HP will have any impact whatsoever in the argument of best t10 bb.

JB it's more appealing, at least for me.

Being in a ship knowing I can't go in, there's something lacking feeling, even if I do good in it.

It's not as enjoyable as...

The only real choice here is Georgia vs Thunderer. Georgia is fun when top tier, but handles HE spam, Yamatos, and Musushis badly. Also, Massa is more fun, if you have it. Thunderer can handle HE spam by active manoeuvering/kiting, works well both in randoms and ranked.

Thunderer is better than georgia but i would say georgia is a better massa, both ships are highly mobile and play more like cruisers than i guess battleships (due to the odd armour schemes in this game).

 

But since you got the former this topic might as well be closed. Both are excellent flankers, kiters but georgia is better at aggressive plays and pushing through than thundy.

 

Both dont handle HE well or 460mm’s at all but few ships can too be honest.

I have only just got her myself and I am loving her, good speed, reliable guns that reward aiming its everything I love in a BB and best part is well angled and manoeuvring you can tank a surprisingly large amount of damage. 

 

It probably helps I have the Hood so the Thunderer is a similar beast.

This topic prompted me to actually try this thing out (I've purchased it about three weeks ago). I think I'm in love.

Hardly ever scraped 3M pot damage... now raked in 4M+ while often vanguarding with it, and I actually brought Her home in one piece! As for her guns... this Baby puts everything to shame that I've seen in the game. 

 

Oh, and what satisfaction Thunderer can bring you if you are teamed up against a non-unicorn CV... :D

I dunno, burned a few Thunderers with my Zao, they burn real good and lacking the Conq superheal they  dont handle it well. 

For me choice was Smolensk, Thunderer or Yoshino, I have the Geogia, Jean Bart and Salem

I have long range snipers,  Yamato, Republique and I have the Conqerour so no need.

I have, Zao and Azuma  so no real feel for the Yoshino (ok them 20 k torps may do some damage)

The Smolensk stands out with its "gimmick" spam, so  I went for the Smolensk.
