What should be cv's primary objective in the game please if you have other ideas for what the cv's job should be please write your idea. and please do not say that cvs should be removed from the game, that most likely will not happen at this point. and if you wan't you can also come with suggestions as to how cvs can be change to fit the primary objective you chose

Can't we choose two?i mean punishing misplay and island campers isn't mutually exclusive right?

 Little clarification needed: are you asking what IS their primary objective right now, as is, what they do best, OR are you asking, what SHOULD be their primary objective, as in how a balanced CV concept should look like? Might be very different answers ;)

what should be their primary objective, as currently it is constant dps, and people don't seem to like that

sadly camping behind islands is not currently considered a misplay

DPS on primary target is what CV should do....not punishing JgPanezer33lite (randomly chosen name) player in BBs on A1 who is reversing and fiering HE with spotter plane out

If you are USA cruiser it is very viable and usefull play...if you are BBs....nop :)

It doesn't really matter what their role should be, as one can play CVs any way they want. The real question is how to MAKE CVs play certain role. :fish_book:

that is one of the things this thread is for, first i asked what role people think cvs should fulfill, and then i asked how they would change them to fulfill that role

i wonder how would work a line of odds tier CV who can do only verry little damage with one scadron, but have one big plane who can only do radar spoting and if it's die it's stay out of play, and a third scadron who can drop sonar buoy or deep water mine field (for when submarine will come alive)

I think the main issue right now is with rocket planes and DDs. Literally biggest issue is that DDs simply can't dodge rocket attacks from even average player and it ultimately leads to their destruction and therefore frustration that they couldn't even play their role. For the longest time I've wondered why the rocket planes were even introduced in the first place, they should be removed if I were asked, and replace them with non-offensive plane type, maybe some type of planes that drop consumable charges for other players or ASW planes that fight submarines when they come to the game.

Should be both spotting and punishing misplays.

Too bad that in the rework merely existing is a misplay for the surface ship.

None of the presented options. CVs should not exist in the game as there is no enjoyable option to balance them with surface ships.

 

Ideally the CVs should do recon behind enemy lines and attack lone targets/weak groups with some support for the main fleet in the form of spotting.

 

Looke at it this way:

 

1. CVs should be able to patrol and spot ships in areas of interest - basically some kind of spotter plane consumable that actually increases the hit probability on the called target - viable support role

2. CVs should NOT be able to attack larger groups of enemy ships simply due to the AA or attack them with low hit probability - think high altitude horizontal bombers - out of AA reach but large drop scatter (here the DD with torpedoes has its role)

3. CVs should be able to punish/finish lone targets - the usual dive/torpedo bombers

 

That way, CV needs some assistance from own team to soften large AA clusters however can provide something (spotter/accuracy increase) in that situation as well and can add with team DPS with high altitude bombers. Once there are smaller groups, the CV is free to attack in the usual way ...

it depends who you ask, OP 😂 

 

T4 main: “... to pad stats”

Sub 40% crew: “... to get deplaned half way into the game and get reported”

Play-4-phun crew: “... to farm damage on BBs”

Skilled / unicorn players: “... to influence the objective, punish enemy mistakes, remove DDs, provide spotting. Basically everything”

 

@El2aZeR @Bear_Necessities : “... to collect the sweet nectar of surface pleb tears”

No I want aa of cas to be heavily buffed. I want to drop with the entire squad. I want rockets to be removed. I want that cvs become extremely potent bb killers that need to make huge efforts to kill dd's and pay with many planes to kill cas. Summed it up Cuz I have no time.

Imagine if bbs were the most vulnerable  targets for air attacks and they needed the support of cruisers for AA. Crazy right?

Mine would be a focus on DD's followed closely by punishing poor map awareness and gameplay.

And harass toineh boutes that ree from time to time.

You got to be kidding! Such an amazingly stupid idea! Any sort of attempt at team mechanics??? 

 

oh wait, thats why I used to play Minotaur and Gearing before the rework
