Instable Ping and Pingspikes

Hello everyone,

i dont know how many fellow captains are affected by this, but since yesterday i encounter massive latency-issues. Usually my ping is quiet stable at 36ms but since yesterday evening it is not stable at all. it just jumps from 36 to 100 and sometime way past 200 ms. This is leading to huge problems as sometimes the game lags, consumables are delayed for more than a second and the same goes for torps or main battery shots.

I talked to some clanmates, they have the same issues so i would like to ask you if you have the same issues and what country and provider you are on. The guys I talked to are all from Germany and are with Telekom. (this is quiet common, so i dont know if that is a coincidence)

Thank you

The same. But wanted to examine my own rig/connection prior to posting anything.

It's been going on for a few days as I recall so 30th of December seems fair.

Usually i get a ping 20-40ms and this is a quiet playable ping, no problem, but currently when I enter a battle my ping spikes after a few minutes to 100-200-500+ms rendering the game near impossible to play.

During the battle it may drop periodically to the former mentioned 20-40ms but there doesn't seems to be a pattern at first eyes glance.

I dont have anything running in the background consuming bandwidth and/or resources so any input is greatly appreciated.

Problem is the same on WiFi/Lan and the router have been both reset and turned on/off. Same result.

I have the same in many games. Wanted to quit randoms yesterday evening and my division mates complained about the same problems. The last game however was fine again.

I dont think it has something to do with the connection directly. Im playing with another guy on the same connection often and when I complain about laggy game and a ping spike - he is perfectly fine. On other occasions, he has problems, while my game is running smooth.

Yesterday I either forgot how to aim completely, or the hit registration was funky as all hell.

I see 6 shells hit the ships (the small black clouds), and gor rewarded fo 1 hit. Other time I missed a DD completely (on my screen), but got the kill with 4 hits.

The Wargambling clearly thinks that containers RNG is not enough, I have to throw the dice every time I shoot as well.

I’ve had this happen before, normally it cropped up when my CV planes were about to attack something, or zooming in with the artillery camera.

Typical ping 30-45, but spikes were going 100, 200, 4-500, and once up to 1,000. A switch-off and reboot did the job, at least for a while.

Was putting it down to my local internet being worse than Wales, or my increasingly Jurassic PC, but now you mention it on a thread, maybe it’s not...

Maybe a VPN could help? Might give it a try.

How would it help? Does it connect you trough different route of servers or something?

Yes. It's probably more effective if you are in the US or are connecting to a game in the US (as there are US ISP's known to throttle game traffic).
