best ships at tier 5-6 for co-op?

I currently have the Musuki, Aoba, Fuso, Kirov, Nürnberg, Bayern, Iron Duke, Emile Bertin and Bretagne

which ship would you recommend at these tiers for getting the best results in co-op?

pity they made the Fuso so slow, I'm wondering if Kongo would have been a better choice.

But then I could get the Normandie if I grind Bretagne a bit.

Why would you play Coop at tier 6?

You can play Operations at tier 6, much better and with better rewards than Coop?

never tried that ---

Co-op was interesting because I can rake in 3-4 kills per battle so get the directives missions done faster.

How do operations work?

You like Fuso?

Then, play  with Fuso.

My recommendations.

get Budyonny

Nurnberg

Bayern

Honourable mention to La Galionissoniere, specially if you want to shoot down planes

Normandie it's an OK ship, weak in AA thou.

For Ops and in addition to the above.

Dallas

Gneisenau tier 7

Shchors   tier 7

Helena     tier 7

Operations don t count towards the current directives though.

I could get what's after the Kirov

Budyoni is also a good choice, when equiped with the IFHE captain skill, she can be brutal to bots :Smile_Default:

Normandie is good. Leander and her sisters are great in Operations, as are French DDs. You can be very aggressive in a Guepard, you have a good health pool, good speed and strong guns and torpedoes.

It depends a bit on why you're playing Coop e.g. I've been doing quite a lot recently to get the 4,500 secondary hits mission done, so for that aim, things like MA/Tirpitz are spot on (or PEF at the tiers you're talking about). If you define results purely in terms of silver income (or reduced loss at higher tiers), and xp gain, then you want something that you can reliably do plenty of damage in, and has low running costs; it helps if it's fast too, so you can close with the enemy as fast as possible - with other humans on your team, there is usually a rush to blow up the foe.

If you're after PvE, @22cm's point about Operations is well made - the results are usually better, although different ships tend to be optimal (often bigger things, and with a heal).

Really though, I would suggest using Coop as a tool for things like missions with conditions that are easier in that mode, and grinding modules on stock ships (where you don't have free xp available); although there are people who entirely specialise in PvE, you'll probably acquire a wider skill-set playing against people as well...

Here's my build, only thing lacking is EL (Expert Loader). Perhaps instead of IFA ( Incoming Fire Alert), with PT (Priority Target) would be a better Hunter.

But I'm not complaining, It's as good as I can be. sometimes great.

If the cv doesn't come for you

Being bad in the AA department, I decided to specialize  my Buddy. Don't forget to equip Hydro.

those rail guns will do the rest.

yes, I obviously want something that counts toward the directives.

so no ops for me during the event.

thanks everyone for the suggestions.

regarding the Fuso, it feels a bit sluggish. I liked the Kongo in that matter, but I sold it.

but reading Normandie's stats I thought it could handle similar to the Kongo?

I like fast, manoeuverable ships that hit hard over long distance.

what I tried and liked so far:

Kongo

Scharnhorst

I disliked: Furutaka because of short range and sluggish, Svietlana because of short range, etc.

average: Emile Bertin, Königsberg, Aoba, Nürnberg, Kirov... all more or less the same, HE spam from a distance and AP close range on cruisers.

I also like Jap DD, German DD, French DD

.....

so let's forget operations, and come back to co-op

what's the best ship in my current ships?

I'm leaning toward Bretagne and that would get me the Normandie, but I'm not sure.

As previously alluded to: whatever you can consistently do the most damage with.

Damage (especially proportional damage) = rewards.

For just farming damage and kills in coop I find Nicholas and Podvoisky very very good. The Nicholas picks bot bbs apart with the classic sailing between move. Its an awesome damage machine in smoke vs thin skinned cl/ca of tier 5-6.

Podvoisky is fun gunboat with 360 degrees guns and fast close range torps.

Faragut is nearly as good in t6 as a gunboat.

From your port I would pick Nurnberg and Bayern in an heartbeat.

P.s.- Get Budyonny, it's fast, can have a fast rudder but with large turning radius, and heavy hitter, a far cry from previous tiers.

I was about to give up the line until I unlock Buddy, then Shchors.

End up being one of my favourite lines.

And Buddy went to be my favourite ship.

From the little experience I have, yeah, Bayern and Nürnberg would be nice. Especially if Bayern is in line with the Scharnhorst/Gneisenau and Tirpitz/Bismarck as far as secondaries and tankiness go.

In T7 Ops, the Atlanta can be a bit of fun in some, though tricky due to non-existent armour in combination with a low health pool... That said, if played nicely it can be as much of a nuisance as the Smolensk. T6 Trento did nicely as well, actually last week in killer whale. I have also heared people say nice things about the T7 Fiji.

I have only played one game in Leander, but it seems like a fun ship.

Operations are certainly worthwile to play alongside regular co-op battles.

I would recommend Killer Whale and Narai  for starters; random teams are usually more successful there.

Unless you have a randomly bunch of experienced operation players,  Newport and Aegis are a little bit harder; .i.e. save Newport for last to avoid disappointments.

From your list of ships, I would recommend trying Fuso and Nurnberg.

Fuso might feel slow but has accurrate, hard hitting, far reaching guns.

Nurnberg is versatile, but fragile.

Absolutely this ... :Smile_great:

Budjonny is kind of a must-have if you like cruisers. My absolute favourite, too.

My next top-picks for esay life in coop and szenarios are:

Bayern

Nürnberg / Makarov

Leander

DeGrasse

Operations are out of scope as they don't allow for directive completion. but thanks for the tips, I'll look at Ops later.

Before you pay any of the operations I'd suggest looking them up on YouTube.  This will give an idea of what happens in each of the missions and should mean you get more out of them.

Well I have a lot of both coop and random battles. First one needs a ship with reliable Alpha Strike i.e. torps. That includes Yoloing. Both Dds and Cruisers are good. Best DDs are those with smoke. You can also cap with them but as the Bots rush you the trick is smoking up position yourself so you can let the other allied ships spot for you while you in smoke preferably kill the enmey DD that is coming to you , the you if you are lucky can rush the enemy BB and torp him to death to the other players disgust! In domination if you have the time you often get the cap as well.

The BBs can sometimes get good results but if they are good DDs in your team they might on some maps leave you without targetys for long and the game ends without doing much damage. Cruisers are weaker as the enemy Bots tends to focus them and while the bots are stupid sometimes they have a nasty habit of deleting cruisers first ven from faraway so cruisers are often a bad choice especially higher up if you do not play f.e. Minotaur or Smolensk.

Best coop DDs - I like the German Dds fast reloading torps and smoke hydro is a very good combo in coop (Z46 and Z52 in particular). Spamming DDs like Akizuki etc often works fine also.

BTW when using the torps we are talking close range the bots seems sometimes to dodge the torps too well , it is suicide rush thats the best against bots to ensure the kill, ofc sometimes you get shot first but overall the best average tactic, you want to hit with everyone.

They help with some of the later ones (Directive 3 onwards) as does Ranked. More naughty (but welcome) backpedalling from WG.

if you look closely at the directives some can be completed in Senario mode.

Yup.... especially some of the (Base)XP earners in directive 3. Which is a good thing.... hope they also get an appropriate tier ship for that one... I have now - finally - some useful ships available to me.
