Atlanta price to high?

I was thinking about buying the Atlanta, but damn that price?!

Might be mistaken but right now its on a 30% discount but it is still 6800 Gold Doubloons, which makes it about 25 euro's?!

Isn't that a bit much for a "simple" cruiser, I know its generally a fine cruiser, but is it worth that much.... even the Warspite is cheaper at the moment...

 

EDIT: Or should it be put in a lower tier, to make its performance match its tier more and therefor lower its price a little?

Warspite is tier 6. Atlanta is tier 7. Even in WoT the price difference between a single tier can drastically rise.

It's expensive, but pretty much in line with what the premium vehicles in WOT cost at that tier. You can always try and wait for a discount event.

It`s premium, you aren`t paying for performance but for training crews and making credits.

Get it, once the first wipe happens you will have the gold back and if you liked the ship........get her again!

 

If you will purchase gold at some point anyway why not try it out.

Because to test how the game will be live, they need to test all parts of it?

So people will buy them to test. Same reason they have discounts on other lines like us destroyers last week.

 

Almost 100% sure the only ships you will keep after the wipe will be the pre order ones from the staff member post I've read.

 

People see the lower price and think yeah it's on discount so they get gold! War gaming are selling gold and making money.

 

I got the warspite so if they don't refund the gold it's not a problem as il get the ship again but have a lot around and I'm sure I'm correct..............I think lol

I think you keep the ships you buy in the closed beta after the whipe and dont get your money back... just keep the ship.

Anyone who can confirm this? Or Ill make a ticket for it and ask

Already stated by the devs, any ships purchased in the CBT will be wiped and gold costs refunded when moving to OBT.

 

And about the Atlanta; Is it just me or does it seem completely OP compared to the Pensicola? I mean the Peni is a real nice ship but that Atlanta is a monster in medium ranges in comparison.

Well I won't be rebuying it after the wipe anyway. It just doesn't have any real role. The guns are sub standard, 127mm auto cannons that barely scratch a thing and are only good for hurting DDs. In fact the guns are the same as the Chester all the way down at tier 2. Yes I understand she has an excellent fire rate and amazing turret traverse, but they're rather pointless when nothing of equal tier is scared of your guns because your damage is so insignificant and you have a mere 11km range. 

 

Now, she is somewhat capable as a DD hunter with HE spam, but you're rarely ever going to see a DD that close as most of the US DDs from tier 6 upwards can shoot further than you, and the IJN will just ninja spam torps at you.

 

Only thing the Atlanta is really good for is for shooting down planes.

Emmerik its just like in WOT after T5 its all WAY overpriced to the point its laughable but people pay that kind of price and so its sold as that price.

 

The end of the day its down to one question is it worth that much to YOU for me that is a massive NO the Warspite on the other hand is maybe if there is a good enough sale on.

I am fairly sure the Bismarck will cost more since rumor has it the ship will be T7 and due to been a battleship i expect it to cost 1000-1500 more gold than the Atlanta.

Its a cruiser with destroyer guns, it should masacre other destroyers, I have not sailed one yet but If I did I would proberly provide an anti destroyer screen to my teams carriers in it.

But the Atlanta is a pretty big ship, has less HP than the Pensacola and the Mogami. She is slower than the Mogami and the same speed as the Pensacola. The biggest rudder shift time of all three ships (when the Pensacola and the Mogami are fully upgraded) and has a bigger turn radius than the Pensacola and only just beats the Mogami in turn radius.

 

If her only redeeming feature is to kill DDs and shoot aircraft down then she has no real role in the game as the Pensacola and Cleveland both usurp her AA role and do it better so her only real role is as a DD hunter? As I said before the Atlanta is out ranged by any equivalent US DD and will struggle against IJN DDs as they can just torp spam her without ever being spotted and then run away to reload as you struggle to chase down where the torps came from.

Atlanta is a good dog-fighter due to her high RoF and very quick turning turrets, although you should never fight alone in one, always have some support (if there is no support, run away). Also she has torpedoes (unlike the Cleveland and Pensicola) which make for a nasty surprise in a close range brawl. My big issue with the Atlanta is the fragility of it's turrets. I am not kidding when I say that I lose 3+ of them every match to anything throwing HE rounds at me. Worse thing is usually they are so badly blown up that they won't repair. Worst time ever I finished the battle (somehow surviving) with only 2 working turrets.
